Paid $61 for mine. No regrets. Use it twice a week.

Agreed. Had one for 4 years. No iron and no regrets. But as noted in my comment below, would highly recommend the over-the-door steaming pad accessory, which allows you to get results as good or better than an iron: https://amzn.asia/d/5484Rup

Thanks OP! Wife said she wanted one literally two days ago, so this'll make her happy.

Does this thing really work? How it is better than regular iron in terms or quality of ironing or time saving?

    • +3

Not as good as regular ironing, but it’s helps with micro wrinkle, and great for suits.

      • +2

Thanks. Will give this fancy toy a miss.

    • +1

Depends on the clothes and how wrinkled it is.

For men's clothes, like pants and shirts I'd say stick with ironing. The steamer is more for helping with wrinkles here and there.

It's better for some women's clothing since a lot it cannot be ironed easily.

  • Thank you OP! Finally a worthy travel steamer. Been looking for a while this week.

    • I'm looking too but decided against this because its corded so not a true travel steamer. Why did u buy this one over something else? Or did u have others in mind? Curious as to what you found :)

      • +1

Sure :) so was looking at the Phillips range and also generic cheapies ($30) on Amazon. At face value, Amazon reviews for all of them looked good but after putting them through review checkers, i wasn't so confident any more. This Sunbeam however, proved to have a more favourable result for their reviews.

I think it's a little heavier, both with and without water, compared to other dedicated travel steamers. I was happy to trade this off for the larger water tank and seemingly more steam (though couldn't find the x g steam output rating).

Also all the steamers I've seen are corded. If they were not corded, tbh I'm not a fan of rechargeables due to the eventual eWaste (you could argue everything will be landfill at some point; I just don't want it to be in the immediate future).

I personally rate the Phillips Steam&Go as a travel steamer, curious to know if anyone has tried both.

  • If I want to get the best of it - should I pick up with the max continuous steam output?

    Like this one - https://www.thegoodguys.com.au/braun-quick-style-7-garment-s…

    35g/pm continuous steam output…

  • This thing looks like it functions better than my Phillips 7000 series.

Less sleek and compact though I think..

  • This is best one so far that works for me, for the portable ones.

  • How does it compared to this? Half the weight

    https://amzn.asia/d/5K1QjSO

Philips steam and go plus 1300w 24g/m

  • Is this model better than the Philips 3000 handheld steamer?

    • +3

It's bigger so it holds more water.

Depends on use case. If you're travelling a lot, then the Philips one would be good for travel because it's smaller. You can probably do one or two items before needing to fill it up with water again.

But if it's for something to use around the home, then I'd say get the Sunbeam one. Keep in mind it won't be as good as ironing.

      • Thank you robotform1984.

I take one to two road trips yearly, but it would come in handy for at home when I don't want to use an iron. I'm aware it won't be as good.

I do like the size of Philips, but swaying more to the Sunbeam.

  • Couldn't recommend. Bought one with high hopes of replacing the iron. Never really got much out of it and the novelty wore off pretty quickly. Been back to ironing for a while now. Haven't used the steamer in months.

    • Depends what you use it for? Will never replace an iron but good for delicate items, linen, etc. but you’re paddling up shit creek if you’re expecting it to do the same job as an iron on business shirts

    • This actual model?

    • +3

I have had the opposite experience. I bought this to replace an iron. Have been using it for 4 years now and haven't had an iron the entire time.

But, to use it in place of an iron I highly recommend the steaming pad accessory. You hang it over the back of a door, hang your clothing on the pad and steam while pressing up against the clothing directly. The pad essentially acts like a vertical ironing board, allowing you to properly press against creases. Works brilliantly. Better than an iron IMHO because the steamer produces way more steam than an iron.

      Here's the steaming pad: https://amzn.asia/d/5484Rup

    • That is a different model - Power Shot SGS0900

  • Also not sure if this model will have the same issue but had a steamer before that carked it cause of scale buildup.

Bought some distilled water to use for this purpose

  • Used it for hours and hours steaming new sheers & curtains. Did a great job for that purpose. Might be good for delicate items and shirts you leave on the hanger to steam.

  • Heat time of 18mins?? That's a deal breaker if correct. Can anyone confirm?

    • +1

That's definitely a mistake. Mine heats and is ready in about 30 seconds.

    • +1

Maybe it only lasts 18 minutes?

    • +1

yeah its not, its actually extremely quick

  • Thanks and I got to use the JOINPRIME10 deal too

  • It says "Currently Unavailable" for me. Anyone else getting this issue? It's not locked by State is it?

    • Same for me. I'm in VIC. I don't think it's state locked
