Standard combo is not worth it. Comes only with one battery which is inadequate and forces you to get more batteries which cost an arm and a leg if you’re buying separately. Best to wait for adventure combo

    • good advice, and it applies to most of DJI's products imo :)

      • +1

Absolutely. Applies to all cameras and devices where you need more than one battery. That’s how companies make most of their money

    • $511.20 after discount at TGC eBay.
      Good?

    • +4

I’ve had lots of action cameras over the years. Always with just one battery and never really had an issue.

      • +4

It depends on your usage. I only use mine for 1-2 hours max per day so just having one is fine.

    • I have the 3 Adventure combo so thinking of getting this as i would have 4 batteries

The 5 is just too good!!! I think it's even better than the Insta Ace Pro 2 based on what I've heard.

I got the 5 adventure combo for $695 - averaging 2.5 hours battery at 4k60fps.

    • That’s decent

    • Where did you buy it for $695?. I am also keen on buying one. Lowest I can find is for $703 on Amazon.

      • I went through JB Ask for a deal. I purchased last week.

    • does the 5 use same battery as 3 and 4?

      • I've never owned a 3 or 4. I came from GoPro but I'd say no because there has been a big generational leap in the batteries. The new ones are 1950mah.

    • whats so good about it? the 3 works really good for motorbike videos

      • +1

10bit colour, the 1/1.3" lens, the colour, battery life, Rocksteady and everything else in between. Camera doesn't overheat.

        It's a very good camera.

  • Any good deals on Insta x4 ?

    • +4

There might be. Look it up

        Any good deals on Nutrigrain?

        • +1

Coles 3.20 fruit loops are the better deal

  • I got the Action 3 Adventure combo for $299 at D1 Store. I’d say it’s a sweet deal just for the extra batteries and accessories.

  • How does this stack up against the GoPro line up? Is there an equivalent Hero?

    • I've seen quite a few comparisons with the GP11 Black

    • I’d choose this over GoPro, but then again I like underwater diving and like the extra protection for the slightly deeper dives. But that’s just me. The reviews suggest this is better than GoPro overall. But they’re all the same for the most part. Look up a few videos on YouTube and choose based on what aspect or use you’re getting out of it

    • Anecdotally, people seem to like the Osmo range better.

For many years Gopro have really dropped the ball on features/reliability because they were the ONLY offering on the market. I don't know which Osmo is equivalent to which Gopro but head to head the battery and reliability is in the Osmo's favour.

I own two Gopros which I use moderately, and I've been tempted to jump ship.

    Oh that is tempting.
I will probably wait until Black Friday, aiming to get it around $300.

Adventure combo also a great price @$511 (https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/126662210882)

  • Gee prices have dropped a bit since the Action 5 has been released…
