iPhone 16 Pro 256GB $1929.99 Delivered @ Costco (Price Beat $1832.55 @ Officeworks)

1110

I know a similar post has been made about the iPhone 16 Pro Max; however, the PM may be too large for some (myself included). I’ve been eyeing the iPhone 16 Pro 256GB from Costco for weeks since its release, as Costco has the lowest marked price on this model, and Officeworks requires the item to be in stock for a price beat. I set reminders for all the color options—sometimes they’re in stock at 8:00 am but sold out by around 8:05 am, so it’s nearly impossible to rush to an OW store in time to get one.

However, the iPhone 16 Pro 256GB (Black, Desert, White) has been available all day today. So, I headed to the nearest OW store (North Ryde) and asked them to price beat. The final price came to $1,832.55 (receipt attached). I also paid with a gift card I got from the Aldi sale (10% off), so in total, I essentially paid $1,649.30 for the phone, which is a very, very good price. I hope my post can help anyone else who's after this particular variant.

They say they won’t price match for Costco physical store here.

Does anyone wanna share 1TB version?

    • Maybe try another store. I’m sure OW price matches Costco. I got it down without any issue.

      • +1

        My local OW doesnt.

        • +2

The phone needs to be in stock at Costco. It's in their terms and conditions to price match Costco. I had mine done, no issues. Many people have even done it over the phone with their head quarters. If they won't price match, Make them call up their head office and get their facts straight.

    • +7

They do not only match but price beat. I purchased a 16 pro 125 gb

Here is my post from another thread.

I purchased a 16 pro and had no trouble getting a price beat (5%) However just in case I had emailed Officeworks to check. So yes they do and here is the body of their reply email. So if any hassles show this.

“Thanks for contacting us and yes we do Price Beat with Costco.

Our Price Beat Guarantee (PBG) means that if you find a lower priced identical item that's in stock with a competitor, we will not only match it, we'll beat it by 5%.

Our guarantee applies to identical products with identical warranties that are:
      - stocked at Officeworks
      - in stock at our competitor; and
      - not excluded from the PBG (see below).

How can you tell if the product is identical? Make sure the model and part numbers on the competitors website match what we have listed on our website.

For more information including exclusions and how to complete a price beat, please visit - https://www.officeworks.com.au/information/policies/price-be…

Ready to Price Beat? Visit your local store or call us on 1300 633 423”

If you want a copy of their email please PM me and I will forward it

      • Can you please send me a copy of their email? That'd be really helpful. Thanks!

      • Yes please! I have PMed you @ern123

      • Could I please get the email too pmd !

      • Hi, thanks for the post. Can you please forward me the email as well. Thanks!

      • Hello, could I please get a copy of the email? Many thanks!

      • can u please send me a copy of their email please.

    • I price matched Apple Watch 10 yesterday at my local OW.

    • +1

Do it over the phone and get it delivered to any store near by.

    • +2

I'd be keen! I'll take it first week, and then we can switch each week?

  • Office works have this is stock ?

    • +3

Yes. As I checked yesterday afternoon, North Ryde has a black one in stock (the one I bought) and a few other stores have other colors, all shows “limited number” tho.

  • Anyone else couldn’t vote straight away because they suspect I have something to do with the poster?

    Never had that before.

    Good price lol

    • +1

Especially combining with discounted gift cards:) I believe it is the cheapest way to get a new model (if not through the JB Hifi mobile deal/hack)

    • Had the same happen to me twice today 🤷‍♂️good thing I could still tick a box and vote

I have bought it from jbhifi for full price in last 30 days. Can we ask them to match this price by showing receipt image and refund the amount?

    • +10

Would you go back and ask to pay more if the price went up after you bought it too?

    • No.

    • Yes they do. Not in this case as JB would rarely match Costco and Price best price of OW.

    • Need this answer too, still waiting for JB to give me the phone, i have placed the order.

      • can you cancel the order

        • Yes JB said i can cancel the order, but I have to buy from JB only as I have purchased using Gift cards

Does iPhone16 pro have a thermal issue?

    • It is better than 15 pro but don't expect too much improvement.

      • Bummer.
        Thank you for the info

        • Don't know why I got 3 downvotes. As long as the CPU is sandwiched between the two pieces of circuit boards, the heat will be trapped with the gap inside the motherboard.

    • Haven't had any thermal issues with mine. What specifically are you wanting to know?

      • They throttle after a while

        • +1

After a while of doing what? How long? What does it effect, just performance or does the screen dim as well?

As I said, I haven't had any issues with mine that I got on launch day. No throttling, no screen dimming, no overheating. I've used Waze on it for a 2.5 hour drive in the middle of a 30+ degree heat day, while plugged in and charging, zero issues. Used it at the beach to take tonnes of photos and videos the other weekend, zero throttling or overheating issues.

  • Wow you had a lot of gift cards

  • When is best time to get a good deal on iPhone be it the basic iPhone 16 or even 15?
Both myself and wife fancy treating ourselves for Xmas a new iPhone.
Both have iPhone SE 2nd gen.

Not seen anything yet to get excited about and the upper prices of close to $2000 is probably but to much

next time discounted giftcards are out

    • +2

Based on my experience, if you are buying a new model, there is no point to wait, just buy early with discounted gift card + OW Price Beat. Or you can wait for a good deal on iPhone 15 pro/ pro max as they will support Apple Intelligence. More ram = longer life span.

And plus the 10x points from flybuys, legend

    • Yes! Forgot to add I also signed up for a free trail of Onepass to maximize the savings lol

      • Where did you get these OW gift cards? Is the 10% deal still active?

    • How did you get 10x? I thought it was just 5x??

  • Just did this exact thing with 16pro 128. $1480ish all said and done. Plus salary packaging will take another 40% off of the $1642 that I ‘paid’ for it using gift cards.

    • +1

What job do you have where you can salary package gift cards?

      • Packaging the phone, not the gift cards.

        • +4

          Name checks out

        • Ok cool. What job allows you to package the phone?

  • +2

I’ve done the exact same thing at the start of the week.

Was checking the Costco and officeworks sites for stock constantly.

Huge upgrade from my pixel 6.

  • +1

Did the same for my iPad pro M4 512 GB and got a discount of roughly $470 comparing to apple store price 😬.

    • +1

What on earth do you do that requires an ipad with that much grunt?
I know the screens are great but the limitations of the OS and the price… I can't fathom why anyone would pay it.

  • Buying a phone case for $77 is not an ozbargain thing to do

  • +1

Can I get price beat when store has stock?
Or can I ask delivery with beaten price?

    • If you are going to pay with many discounted gift cards, you can only do it in store. However if you are paying straight, you can do price beat on phone.

  • +1

Amazing. Thanks for the tip. I've not thought of doing this.

Do you need to be a Costco member?

  • Does Officeworks ask you to confirm that you have a Costco membership?

    • Sometimes depends on who you get

    • I do have a Costco membership but they never asked to see

  • Anyone know where the new iPhone 16 for Australia are made nowadays ?

    • In addition to India, Apple is reportedly assembling iPhone 16 models in Brazil and China. According to a report by 9To5Mac, citing MacMagazine, regulatory filings for the iPhone 16 in Brazil have confirmed that Apple is assembling the device in India, China, and Brazil.
Apple has previously assembled iPhones in Brazil, but this marks the first time the company is producing a new iPhone model in Brazil from day one. According to the report, Apple’s manufacturing partner Foxconn has been tasked with assembling the base iPhone 16 model at its São Paulo facility.

      https://www.business-standard.com/technology/tech-news/along…

      • The article doesn't say where the iPhones 16 for Australia are coming from. Just asking cos of a bad experience with iPhone 15 I bought from JB which was made in India (apparently all iPhones 15 for Australia were from India), after 2 weeks, the battery wouldn't charge more than 50% and would power off after 2 hours, had the same issue after replacing the iPhone with JB. So had to return and refund the whole purchase and downgrade back to my iPhone 13.

Can anyone who has picked up their iPhone 16 share with us where their phones were made in ?

        • My iPhone 15 Pro Max are still Made in China.

          • @cloudie9: Yup. I heard that the iPhone 15 Pro and iPhone 15 Pro Max are made in China, lower models like the iPhone 15 are all from India. At least for the Aus market.

        • I had iPhone 15 Plus and currently using 16 Plus. Both are from China.
Look at the charging port. There's a line of text at the top side (facing down) showing model number and country.

        • India had a yield rate of 50%. 50% were rejects.

          • @gunso: Unfortunately, I probably got handed the 50% that were duds. So trying to improve my odds by checking where the new iPhone 16 for Aus are coming from.

      • Iphone 16 is assembled by China, I just bought one.

        • Awesome. Thanks for sharing the info :)

  • Can OW do price match ? I am a COSTCO member, but I wonder whether an individual Officeworks store would agree to do price match ?

    • Never hurt to try lol

    • "The OW in Sydney was very kind and matched me with English without any issues.

this explains why Apple office car park has mostly Porsche vehicles on display

I felt proud to be an OzBargainer when I got mine for $1305. Used the $1200 JB deal + GST return at the airport :)

    • I woulda paid just under $1k for mine having done that with the pro max 😂

  • Any Officeworks gift card on sale atm?

    • Same trying to find 😊

  • The bill of materials on an iPhone is 485$

    • Yes Apple maintain excellent profit margins - lucky them

      • +1

Yep. Better buy 2k of shares in Apple

  • I know this question has been asked before, but thought I would put it up here. I am about to fly to the US, so I can get GST back as well. Don't have the OW gift cards, but will check…

I am moving to America. Pixel Pro user, and the green shaming (texting) has been an issue in the US… although hoping the new RCS rules makes it better.

I still baulk at the UI habits update. Use a Mac daily, but Google eco-system for home and work. Google Photos. Big WhatsApp user so backup of those files, about 4000 contacts to manage. The rest I think doesn't matter on apps like linkedin Insta Twitter Youtube Browser — 90% of my time goes here.

What will my transition be like?

Currently 512GB storage but think I can purge my photos that are online.

What will be my biggest regrets moving from Pixel (eyeing the Pixel 9 Pro) vs iPhone 16 Pro?

    • USA iphone is more cheaper

      • Oh, I didn't know!
        Thank you
        Will check

        mmm checked:
1099 USD + Tax (which would be CA at 10% + disposal charge)
about $1650 without tax for the 256gb iPhone Pro Model. This means for SF where I will be, another 8.65% which you cannot claim back. ~1792 AUD…. So not far off this sale at AUD 1832.

Thx thought, will research a bit more. Also in Canada, but iPhones only sold there as part of a package with a carrier.

        • and I get the GST back on my flight to the US… so think I'll do it, making it 1650 ish… about the same as the US before the CA state tax.

  • +2

The Iphone 16 Pro Max 512gb is also listed as $2399, but only Natural Titanium is showing instock on the website.

    • Nice find. Might have difficulty find identical stock in Officeworks though. Will wait & see.

  • +4

    I can't believe idiots pay 2k for a phone.

  • Congrats on getting OW to price match Costco, it's been hit and miss for me.
