very decent specs but I don't think it worth it without a SSD!

    • Wow pretty awesome laptop for the price.

Should be able to buy a caddy and put it in the DVD drive slot with an SSD and voila!

        G75 has 2 drive bays.

$100 for a 120GB SSD and its $1599 for a very quick laptop.

Good specs, I wish I could get it in a 15.5".

  • This seems to be better pricing than the Alienware range…

  • Its at least $2000 on http://www.staticice.com.au/

Decent price for what it is.

…but as a 17" laptop owner, I suggest spending about $500 less than this by buying a $650 desktop gaming PC (more powerful than this one) AND a $350 basic laptop.

Better gaming/performance when you really need it, plus better portability for work/study, plus the savings.

    • Defiantly agree. Although my 2gb video card really helps with excel :)

        Defiantly agree.

That's something of an oxymoron ;-)

"Something of an oxymoron"? For an English Professor, you sure make little sense.

        • "Something of an oxymoron"?

'Something of a…' is equivalent to 'to some extent'. It makes perfect sense, thank you very much.

For an English Professor, you sure make little sense.

So merely because I know the difference between 'defiantly' and 'definitely', as most people should, I'm an 'English professor'? Right.

        • It's either an oxymoron or its not. Since when were there part oxymorons?

        • +1

Since 'defiant' can possess a number of connotations (see here), it would be inaccurate to say that it was an oxymoron in every sense of the word. Therefore, it was, to some extent, an oxymoron. I'm not really sure why you're nitpicking.

        • Not nitpicking here but your argument is rather unique ;-)

        • Well it's not a statement I expected to be defending, that's for sure.

    • A good gaming desktop would cost about $1000. If you travel a lot a gaming laptop comes in handy..

      • A good gaming desktop would cost about $1000

Not these days. A $650 rig will play most new games at max settings. See www.reddit.com/r/buildapc for examples.

If you travel a lot a gaming laptop comes in handy

True. Most people don't, though… and don't realise you can get faster gaming, a lighter backpack, and a heavier wallet by just buying 2 separate machines, so I thought I'd put it out there.

Good price, these are around ~$2k. The only downside is the 1 year warranty as most other places offer 2-3 years. Add Catch at checkout for $5 discount

    • add another $149 for warranty extension to 3 years!
      http://www.cybershop.com.au/products/Asus-Notebook-Warranty-…

    • Just pay with a platinum credit card and the extra 1 year warranty is yours :P (although, no where near as convenient or easy as the standard Asus warranty is. Use to be awesome from what I hear, has been a long time since I owned an Asus laptop (but is still going nearly 7 years later).

  • Does anybody know who the supplier is? I would order one if it came before Christmas.

  • Clevo metabox seems like a much better deal!

    • Do you have a link?

      • just google it, 17.3'' non 3d 3rd gen i7 with 660m is about $1200. 660m is probably all you need for this resolution
