  • does it have a microphone?

    • +4

      No, there is no mic.

atl I believe? Very tempting even my ivory one still going strong

This is atl, well people in the comments were true atl getting it for $60 with codes.

    • +2

      Yes possible ATL.

I have one of these in ivory, still going strong but the quality of the faux leather is bad. Mine is about 4 years old, the leather started peeling.

I bought some nappa leather and looked for a leatherworker to do a custom job, and now its better than ever.

    • ATL?

      Nah.

It appears on Ozbargain for around this price several times a year, just a few months back there's one for $100:

      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/product/sennheiser-hd-599

  • On my cart in checkout shows $115 delivered. So OP, for prime members, there is an additional $10 discount you can mention in the listing.

    • You have $10 credit from something. Because there is no discount for me and I have prime

      • There's a targeted $10 coupon code for prime members on some orders:
        PRIME10X1 and PRIME10X2 I believe?

        • Plus 8% Westpac/Shopback 8% cashback making it ~$106 delivered. Pretty stellar deal. Although, headphone geeks love Sennheisers especially the 5 and 6 series, if you are not a headphone nerd, you will find Sennheiser 5 and even 6 series headphones underwhelming and too 'eh wateva'. For normal people into the doof doof and still want the wide sound stage of an open headphone design…. look at the Philips Fidelio X2HR/00.

  • So many models of Senheisser and Beyerdynamic. Any thoughts on these vs other open back headphones for mixing?

  • What’s the beginner/easiest way to set this up with iPhone? What amp do I get??
I’ve got a momentum 4 but really want to explore open back and I have Amazon music unlimited (lossless audio)

  • Sennheiser HD 560 S currently AU$216 from Amazon US (-24%)

    • This looks eerily like a successor to my 20+ y/o HD 555. 🤔

  • +1

These are spectacular value. I use them for music and gaming (no mic of course).

If you’ve never tried open back headphones like these you’re in for a real treat.

    • Open back is the only way to go for at home use. Comfortable.

  • Deadset bargain. Got mine from amazon Germany deal close to 10 years ago for more than this, still going strong, comfortable for long use, good spacial awareness for positioning in gaming and solid for music.

  • Damn seems to be out of stock 😭

    • Looks in stock to me…?

      • My mistake. I was logged in to a non-Prime account

  • These are so comfortable. I have a beige pair for probably over a decade. Did recently just tape up the headband which has been (profanity) for years to be fair. I will use my new pair for my WFH zoom calls cos I got external mic. Should be sweet.

  • I got one last January on a $150 deal

they are good, but don't expect anything extraordinary.

yes the other sets I have are more expensive closed backs (one of them 5 times dearer) and they are more enjoyable

these ones are more detailed and balanced if you prefer that sort of thing. solid for gaming however.

    Does this have bluetooth?

    • +1

Why the neg? Not everyone is an audiophile. Convenience of not having dangling cable and not relegated to using with a computer (without dongles) are big factors which affect the enjoyment of a headphone.

  • Anyone knows if this will be good for a guitar modeller like quad cortex?

    • +1

Depends on what you mean by good.

I have a pair of hd800 plugged into my quad cortex and they're okay through it so, I'd say yes.

  • I just got a pair and these are not good headphones.

If you're someone who also has fairly expensive headphones and you're just looking for something to get a cheap job done, the 599s are not say.. 90% as good as that. They are quite rubbish. I was shocked at how bad their sound was. I have become accustomed to really getting very good results with fairly cheap headphones. I think nothing of using cheaper audio technicas rather than my expensive ones but wow, these are not good. I am willing to bet that the audio technica a700x's which are 162 are a better deal.
