    This wins prime day!

  • oh my goodness gracious this is tempting

  • +3

Obligatory HIFIMAN HE400SE non-Stealth on AliExpress mention, but at least Amazon are pricing a lot more competitively, so definitely take the time to understand the strengths and weaknesses of each headphone.

    • Yes, I don't know why you got downvoted.

  • Very nice, can't say no at that price.

  • +2

    dont need it but #damn

  • As a uneducated Bose QC35 II user, what would be the upgrade if any? Wouldn't mind a set to stay at the PC

    • I'm departing my qc35 ii, hard to say no at this price.

    • +2

depends on if you're comfortable with the 599s being open back and less portable. these would give you a very wide soundstage compared to the bose, for sure. detail would also be better, and you dont need to fuss around with different wireless codecs to get the best quality possible. having said that, its probably not worth an impulse purchase if you're already happy with what you have

      • +2

Honestly wouldn't mind just leaving my bose in my bag for work so at this price I'm in

Or this is just copium and the ozbargain fomo hitting at 1am

        • -1

go for it, they're great headphones:)

  • +2

Already have so many headphones do I need another?? At this price though..

  • +1

    Paid $80 with the code

    • +4

      What code?

      • +3

$20 off first in-app purchase I'm guessing, but I can't speak for them.

        • Yeah another person below said that's what they used, Added to the description.

      • Probs the one for signing up to Prime.

  • +2

Kind of feel obliged to grab another set of these as this is crazy cheap. Price came down to $80 using the $30 coupon code plus $20 first time app use code.

  • How do these compare to AKG K612 Pro?

    • +1

Weaker, overall, while probably being more timbrally correct. If you've already got the AKG K612, stick with what you have.

      • +1

        Thanks jasswolf

    • +1

It's a rather personal preference and depends what you're using them for. But personally of just those two, the K702s over both, lol. I still use K612s too, but if I was buying today they're both currently ~$200 so I'd get the the k702s. In saying that, the 599s are currently half that so they are very inviting if you just need some headphones, but if you already have K612s no these are not an upgrade, good value but not an upgrade.

  • Impulse purchase but will be used for gaming as a upgrade to my old Sony headphones, should this work fine? Games like PUBG and COD would be the main use case other than music and videos.

  • +1

such a good deal, but I already have the 6xx!

  • My DT770 Pro broke recently. I mainly play competitive FPS (Valorant and CS), so I've abused it for quite a while. Does the soundstage of 599s compare to DT770's? I have no issues with it being open back as long I get to hear those footsteps

    • +3

It would be wider sounding with less precise imaging, but keep in mind you've got the option of the HD 560S @ $220 in this sale as well (before any further codes).

      • Thanks didn't notice - that ends up being the best outcome for me since the 560s is obviously very good and cheaper than the DT770

        • Beyer parts are also fairly widely available, so your third option is to order a replacement part and re-fit it. But if you always wanted to try open back, this is a good spot.

          • +1

@jasswolf: cables are broken unfortunately, had to replace the parts in my cans twice aswell and the warranty's finished, so I'm watching out for a sale instead. Next time I buy the cans I'm buying a case for it, to take to work.

  • I managed to go get these for $60. I think it applied two $20 discounts with the app - first20 + 20prime

    • They stack?
Tempting me to make a new amazon account to try haha, dont need these though.

      • +1

Neither do I as I already have the HD 6XX's. But I couldn't pass on it at $60. I didn't have to manually apply any discounts for what it's worth. Within the app it just auto applied and showed the $60 total

      • They do, but you won't get them on new accounts.

  • +1

Paid almost double for these back in 2021, used daily and almost new condition, highly recommend, and also super comfy

  • +7

Nice. Make sure when you're ordering to select the drop down menu and select "Hide what's inside, dispatch in Amazon packaging" otherwise it will come as is with the shipping label on the product box.

    • +1

Bugger I forgot, wish there was an option just to default to an Amazon box…

      • Cancel and reorder

        • Already shipped before I could! Crazy quick

  • Tempting, but I've got the 598SE.

Probably not worth buying even at this cheap price

  • Goshdarnit now I need a headphone stand :P

  • how do these compare against the ATH-M50X?

    • +1

Different headphones as these are open back whilst M50x is closed back. Open back headphones leak sound out so not good for travelling and/or office wear. Open back provides a wider soundstage as opposed to the sound-in-your-head of closed back headphones.

Try an open back prior to buying one as sound is very much a subjective experience.

I just opened up the 599se that just arrived, in comparison to my K701 and m50x, the 599se sound like having water stuck in your ear… quite a muffled sound. Thinking that it might be a dud pair, the second pair sounds exactly the same… Maybe I got 2 dud pairs?

  • this vs my old k701? my k701s are like 10 yrs old but alive and well

    • -1

      Sidegrade at most.

      • Use it for 20hrs to 'burn in' the diaphragm. (Leave it plugged in playing music for a few hours a day for a week). It will liven up. For even better performance, get a cheap $80 - $150 DAC / AMP combo unit to power it. Yes reviewers say it is good without an amp but it comes alive with a small cheap DAC / AMP combo unit (doesn't need lot's of power so a cheap amp/dac will suffice for this model).

Let's keep the audio woo woo out. If 'burn in' is a thing, you just blast music through it for x hours straight, no need to do a few hours a day for a week. The headphones are not going to overheat and melt.

50 Ohm impedance headphones. If they don't sound good from the existing source, throwing an amp at it isn't going to magically change the experience.

Maybe he has to just get used to the new sound, but it's not going to be some mix of burn in and extra gear that costs more than the headphones.

  • I was only offered FIRST10 on my app for some reason, but are these still worth as a backup for $90?

  • Does this come with a microphone

    • +1

      No mic.

      • Missed out, but hard pass for me without a mic

        • +7

Missed the Ducati sale, but hard pass from me without a tow bar and 4WD.

  • While there are arguably better and pricier options around, these are the best sounding headphones I have owned. Perhaps an overstatement, the audio quality on these headphones is a feeling to remember. Bought first in 2017/18 for my LG V20, sold in 2021 for $150.
Had been looking for this or similar since getting MBP as it can drive high impedance headphones, thanks to OP and comments here, managed to get it for $60 after stacking coupons on wife's account. It is going to be a happy reunion.

  • How would these compare to the Sennheiser Game one (open back)

  • +1

Turns out my amazon free trial reset so I got another $20 off. Nice

  • Sorry, how do you get the $30 off? Can't see that option.

    Am I too late??

    • +1

Sorry but Amazon has removed the $30 coupon.

      • Ty for replying! Thought I was going mad… oh no!

Are these still the best headphone deal currently? In a tricky situation. Need to replace a lot of things and I'm not the most cashed up.

  • Any deals on a good pair of closed-backs?

  • +2

    Real bargains sell out quickly.

  • Paid way over this and they're well worth it, these headphones are amazing!

  • +8

For those that missed out. $110.50 with a code through Sennheiser ebay store

    • +2

      Code is TJULY15

    • Thanks! $107.50

  • Received mine already, love the sound quality and comfort. Already liking it more than my qc45.

  • Darn, sucks that I missed out!

    Thinking about grabbing them anyway…..

Annoying that Amazon isn't price matching the 110.50 on the ebay store as it would be nice to get them tomorrow.

    • Have you missed out again on the eBay deal?

      • Yep - thought about it for too long ahah

      • Oh wait no the eBay deal is still up
