Aren't the 2 for different items? The BigW appears to be the older version and this one the new slimmer refresh.
Although you do get more for your money off the BigW one (250gb vs 12gb) I do believe they are different. I suspect there are also internal changes between the two which could be for better or worse…
The 2009 Slim revision has more space (compared against the 12GB option), an automated disc slot-loader instead of the drop-in spindle, and the older Slim has a quieter optical drive compared to the newer Slims. There's no other new internal changes. The only other differences that would come into play would be the aesthetics.
I personally bought the '09 Slim earlier this year in June, for the same price as this but from Big W (with Uncharted 2).
Also, the included games are pretty different. That may be a factor for some.

The new slims imo are very plastickie. plus with the big w option you get 160gb drive. GTA 5 one of the best car games if not best. driver 3 has not had many good reviews. i know where i would put my money. ps3 slim orig hands down
Got an e-maili from Sony where you spend $399+, you get $99 back. Went to check it out as their PS3 with 500GB drive is $399.95, so figured out it should end up being $300.95. Unfortunately when I select my cart, I get an error…
So, if $300.95 for the PS3 with 500GB drive is a good deal, you might want to give it a go.
