Looks like a bit of a price drop on this well regarded CPU. Ships from the US and is the cheapest I can find compared to local stock. I was keeping an eye our for this family of CPU for a 4K VPin I am building. Its about a 10% price drop from when I looked yesterday.

This version is able to be OC'd I believe but does not have onboard graphics.

Enjoy

Correct, the F stands for "For (profanity) sake" after you realise this after spending an hour troubleshooting without a GPU connected.

    • Ha……that would possibly be a touch frustrating.

I wouldn't be surprised with Intel CPU price dropping, their CPUs have never been the biggest scam and headache.

Check trustworthy sources to understand the problems around Intel before buying Intel in 2024.

I haven't seen a single source that claims 12th gen has problems, it's only 13/14th gen.

I haven't seen a single source that claims 12th gen has problems

        Yet!
Intel current dramas didn't happen overnight, meaning, any other gen problems might or might not be around the corner,
All it takes is one problem for the community to start looking closer into things and finding out stuff that we skipped before.

Like I said, in my personal opinion it is not worth building an Intel setup in 2024.

        • So has anyone reported any 12th gen problems or is this just a where there is smoke there is fire type of argument ?

  • I have this exact CPU, it's been nothing but rock solid. It's more than capable for most things I throw at it (Photoshop, Premiere Pro, Pro Tools, modern games, etc.)
There are more powerful options out there, and more power efficient, but at this price point it's decent.

  • I bought one with an integrated GPU 'just in case…' and surprisingly, realised I could use it for Jellyfin encoding in parallel with my 3070 for regular gaming!

Also mean that at the end of life in 10 years, this particular CPU can still be used in a basic server without needing to be paired with a discrete GPU for setup etc.
