this is probably my favourite smart home accessory, it's great having it come up in your carplay dashboard to open and close the garage door!
also, this meross one has been very reliable.

  • One of the best purchases I have made in the last two years

  • +1

Mine hasn’t been very reliable with HomeKit, often get ’the garage door is taking a while to respond’ error. Using HomePod Mini as the hub.

  • Please if anyone could suggest, if this is compatible with the Powertech "Triple Star" gate opener.

  • Thanks OP! Bought one, just as I need one. I'll replace my current eufy entry sensor with this :)

  • got this a few weeks back at $59. I agree at most of the comments here. Very good product.

Is there a version thats tesla compatible?

  • Is the non-homekit version enough for android users?

    • Yes, works great just on wifi. Even works remotely, I can monitor the doors from my hospital bed, the kids have a habit of driving off without closing them.

  • I’ve had a non HomeKit grid connect one for a few years. Shouldn’t have cheaped out and got this one. Worth the upgrade for the convenience?

  • longshot but anyone used this with a B&D door? they don't seem to have it listed out on their website but saw a review where someone said they did it. I have a

    B&D Controll-A-Door S Sectional Door Opener

    • It’s literally just an on/off switch signal.

If your remote is basically one button to open and close you should be able to hook it up quite easily.

I’ve hooked it up to my driveway swing gate and it works fine. The sensor took some thought to put in a place that worked well, but once I figured that out it’s been perfect.

Ok so I received this unit and works a treat… Install was a breeze!!!

Only hingsight is that I missed this comment from a previous deal, until I experienced the issue and when researching… So sharing for others in case you missed it like me!

Just a heads up on this, if you want it to work with Homekit remotely you will need a HomePod/Home Pod mini or apple TV running 24/7 to create a home network. If you don't it will only work while you are connected to your home wifi network.

Correct, or you can also use the Meross app when away from home too.

I don't currently have a HomePod to have a Home network, so when I try to use the Home app on my iPhone to control the garage door when I'm off the same wifi network, I get a "No Response" and have to use the Meross app, so not really able to use voice control for hands free.

Still very happy with this unit for ~$50!

  • Not sure if anyone knows or cares but you are supposed to have a safety beam with these….legally, need two points of safety.

    Just an FYI.

    AS/NZS 60335.2.92:2012 Amendment 2:2018

Personally I do not have a safety beam but have the smart opener.

If your garage door is heavy like cladded, probably already has one as the weight of the door requires one as it cannot close on a kid.

If you are going to rent out or sell your house. Recommend removing to remove any liability in any rare instances something goes wrong

    • If close limits / forces are set correctly it should be fine. Mine work great.

  • Anyone have any ideas. I bought this thing cause it passed the compatibility check when I shorted it with a wire but my garage door opener itself isn’t on their list. The app set up was fine but it doesn’t actually open or close the garage even though I can short it.

My opener is a Vicway VT1000E

page 14- looks like you connect the meross to gnd and PB, then you need either a photoelectric sensor between PE and gnd, else just connect a wire between PE and Gnd to short it. should work after that.

had the same problem with my door and asked my door guy

      • Hey sorry never saw this reply.

I’ve got it connected like that. There’s already a PS between PE and gnd. Attached some pics

        • Not sure then. Have a look at the ismartgate installation guide, it should be quite similar to install as the Meross. It seems with them they don’t have the short? Maybe you don’t need the short?

          • @Whodis: Yeah I was looking at that too.

I removed the short and still doesn’t work. Really hoped this would work :(

            • @Arkhxm: does it open and close when you short those terminals manually?

              • @Whodis: Yep. I use a wire and it opens it

                • @Arkhxm: are you sure your meross isnt faulty?
