  • Flights may have an upsize too, will have to wait and see when it starts tomorrow.

Still bank bonus doesn’t track from last deal. Sent the email of it to shopback team but still waiting for response

"Cashback is not available through the Trip.com app."

Should be a major warning in big letters when booking on the shopback app

    • So the funny thing about this is that people have used the Trip.com app without issues, but for me it's best to just paste the info that SB provides.

  • To confirm, this is essentially 27% cash back capped at $150/$100?

    • That's right, though I'm not sure if they include GST in the cashback calculations.

      • Hey mate, do you know if we have to book & pay using eligible bank cards in order to get the bonus? Or having the card linked in shopback is good enough? Tia

        • +1

          You have to pay.

          • @Xizor: So you can't use pay later? Or does Trip.com not offer that?

            • +1

@Sweet3st: Not sure what you mean. The 10% bonus is on the condition you use a card from one of those banks for payment via trip.com - that simple.

        • You can get the 17% bonus with any card, the extra 10% is via the banks listed (so 27% total if you hold one of their cards).

  • What if I have a $20 promo that automatically applies? No code used…

    • +1

You should be able to remove it when at the cart or checkout screen

      • What about a 'silver tier discount'?

        • That's fine it's not a promo code

  • When will this start?

    • You can see the start time a bit further under the referrals section.

    • 7 Oct 12:00pm–7 Oct 6:00pm

  • How does this work with rooms that can be cancelled where you don't have pay until you check in? How does it track a payment like two months from now?

    • I've had this situation with shopback/cashrewards for hotels using booking.com and it tracks as usual, but it doesn't confirm the cashback until after you stay (in my case about a month after the stay).

      • +1

I think what @serpserpserp is asking, if you have to pay at the hotel upon check in, will it track? In this instance Trip.com only takes out a pre-authorisation fee. Upon check in, then the amount is returned after 14 days. If this occurs, then the tracking will eventually be cancelled too. Is this correct?

        • No, it goes off purchase price and the retailer confirming payment amount

    • It will take longer time to confirm

    • It's in the T&Cs which has also been posted here in OP's post up the top, cashback is confirmed and redeemable 120 days after the stay. That's how they make sure you've paid/stayed before issuing the cashback

  • has this started? I dont see it yet.

    • -1

No, you can see the start time under the referrals section.

Hmm… $150 cheaper after cashback than my normal agoda booking. But $120 more expensive if the cashback doesnt work. Decisions decisions.

EDIT: Actually, when i add to cart there are more fees and it end up the same price as Agoda normally. Dang.

    • +2

My rate on Agoda is $130 a night, if I activate the 12% Shopback, the room rate goes to $159 a night,

      • Yeah, i haven't found a decent price on Agoda with cashback for a while. Always seems to get jacked now. Been looking for Thailand lately. I have however got some good normal rates / non-cashback with Agoda by just keeping an eye on the price fluctuations, and am yet to find a better price with cashback elsewhere. So many annoying variables to this stuff.

  • I know it's old but how do you get the extra 10% if you're banking with BoM/BSA/StG? How do I "connect" it to my Shopback?

    • You add your card as one of the payment methods in ShopBack and then pay with that card.

      • Ah so in this particular deal, when making the booking in Trip.com I also need to use the BoM card I have?

        • Yes, will need to use the same card you linked in Shopback.

  • If booking via app when redirected from the shop now button is verboden, then this means you have to pause/uninstall the trip app then complete checkout through the trip website after clicking through. This feels very much like they are trying to "gotcha" anyone whos used to usual t&c's. Of course theres no way to clarify a response in a reasonable amount of time..

    • It's not just this, there are quite a few where the app is excluded. Must be some tracking limitations.

  • Westpac should be part of this too shouldn't they?

  • Does anyone know whether Trip.com gives you a tax invoice when you pay or when you complete your hotel stay?

  • I think flights is 1% cashback

  • Is Trip.com safe website for flights and hotel ??

When will Agoda have such upsized cashback? Have used Agoda in past few times, it is safe and reliable.

  • Bonus Westpac cashback showing as 2% still when will the 10% kick in?

    • Doesn't look like Westpac is part of the bonus cashback.

      • Boooo I just realized that.

  • Just booked a few hotels. Has anyone got confirmation emails from Shopback that the transaction has been tracked? Generally, how long until they will pop up?

    • In the past have had them show up within 45~ mins, been 1.5 hours now though and nothing yet…

Edit: Just showed up after 2 hours or so.

      • Just got an email as well. Thanks for sharing your update.

  • No westpac?

  • Thanks OP $250 savings is huge! Cashback for me came through in about 15 mins for a domestic hotel booking

  • +1

Agoda is cheaper even after factoring in cashback.

    • +1

Depends on hotels. I booked Hobart and Launceston via Agoda (much cheaper) but for Cradle Mountain, Trip.com was cheaper plus the extra 5% cashback. Trip.com has already tracked but Agoda I think may take some time.

  • Is Trip.com requiring a credit rather than debit card? Or is this Japanese hotels?

    • Usually if it's a pay at hotel, it'll require a CC to reserve the booking. If you pay online, it'll let you use debit generally.

  • is bank bonus only via shopback app?
Would I get bank bonus if using shopback desktop website?

the reason is getting different price from trip via shopback app and via shopback website, strange

    • +1

Available for both shopback app and desktop website, as long as you pay with that card.

  • +2

How do I know if my St George card payment is tracked? Saw the email for the 17% but nothing on the St George

    • +1

Same issue here, only 17% is tracked about an hour ago. No sign of Stg bank bonus yet.

      • +1

Trip.com charge St.george card via eftpos not VISA

        • +1

Does this affect bonus cashback eligibility? Didn't notice that it went via eftpos :/

          • @albert7777: I think Yes,most cashback programs are partneship with Mastercard and VISA,I noticed this issue when filled my St George card in the payment page, there was a eftpos logo showed, I highly doubt this could be the cause.

        • +1

Oh that's a shit go :S ill email them and see what they say

        • Also in the same boat :( please let us know what they say.

    • @gotyourback, look like trip.com selected eftpos as payment method instead of VISA for St George card. This was reported in previous trip.com deals as well. So moving forward, can this be communicated with trip.com instead we have to log tickets to get resolution every time..Thanks:)

    • Does anyone have any update from ShopBack on this one? Ticket raised and no response at all.

      • same no response

        • @gotyourback, Just got a reply from Shopback that need to wait for 14 days before we can raise this issue. That's inconsistence with the Bot which is 2 days, can you help with this situation?

          • @vihand: Just received email from ShopBack the debit card transaction has been tracked. Bonus appears on my ShopBack account. Thanks again! @gotyourback

            • @vihand: No worries, mate! Glad it's sorted.

  • I raised the issue after 2 days through the chatbot channel to complain that Shopback didn't recognise my St George debit card due to the transaction was processed as eftpos channel. After a week, I got an email from a human customer service person to let me send the official receipt from Trip.com for them to further investigate. There is no timeframe provided but they said it will need to wait for a while.

  • Had to email support and they successfully confirmed the extra cashback from st george
