Telstra $35 Prepaid Kit for $12 (Limit 2 Per Customer, Use on Casual 6 Months Expiry Plan) @ Telstra

930

Good for low usage, long expiry users.
I like how there are included minutes, texts and data, rather than an 'as you go' plan, eg Amaysim $10, 365 days, where you pay per minute/text/MB.

Pre-Paid Mobile $35
6 months expiry
Click on 'Casual Plan' on the Link to see.

Inclusions:
350MB data
95 call minutes to standard Australian numbers
120 texts (SMS/MMS) to standard Australian numbers
Capped 4G and 5G speeds. Download speeds are capped at 150mbps on our 4G and 5G network. Great for most customers’ regular usage including streaming, browsing and social media.
Some very limited international calls and texts as well!

I just bought one from office works for $11.40 after the 5% price beat

    • Which one malaga?

      • Doncaster VIC

    • What expiry date does it have on it?

        December 2025

        • Which sim kit did you get from officeworks? I only see the $35 35gb starter kit on the ow website

    • So I believe it’s the regular $35 Telstra sim starter pack which can be activated as Casual plan of normal 28 days expiry plan?

    • Which sim kit did you get from officeworks? I only see the $35 35gb starter kit on the ow website

  • Do you need to pay to activate the sim card ? As i only want a sim card to receive sms messages.

    • just buy a $5 aldi SIM which lasts for 1 year

      • I wish aldi had esims 😞

      • But must buy a plan within 60 days to keep it alive.

  • According to the Telstra website, you do not have to pay any more after the initial $12.

The SIM will last 6 months.

  • I bought the $12 Telstra physical SIM.

According to Telstra, it should arrive in the next 7 days.

Having had the misfortune of dealing with Telstra recently, I though I'd check the reviews. They average a woeful 1.3 out of 5 stars. I'm not surprised.

    trustpilot

    They're a national embarrassment.

@celery juice I cant buy the eSIM, on app it shows full price ,

    • The price reflects properly for me when I try to purchase it as an eSim. It shows $12 for the $35 recharge on the part where you select how much you want, shown after the contact details stage.

        • You'll have to buy the actual sim kit and convert to eSim for prepaid casual it seems

          • @celery juice: $12 3GB 7 Days one?

            • @Ehty: No, buy the $35 sim kit for $12 and then activate it as prepaid casual. Convert it to eSim once it shows up on the app.

              • @celery juice: ok so can i buy second sim ( physical) and acitivate after 6 months?

                • @Ehty: Yes, as long as it doesn't expire by then.

  • My $12 SIM arrived and I have installed it on an old Nokia.

I found it easiest to install using my PC, using my passport number as my proof of identity. I did not need to scan my passport.

Other than the initial $12, I have not needed to pay Telstra anything more or sign up to an automatic credit card payment.

  • How would this work for incoming voicemail? How much credit would it use each time? Deposit vs retrieval etc.

    • That’s a good question may be @celery juice can answer that for you.

For prepaid casual, based off the CIS, using Messagebank will count against your included minutes. Prepaid mobile has it as part of the unlimited call inclusions.

  • Is it good to activate anytime before expiry?

    • Yes

      • "60GB on activation. Activate by 21 October 2024. New customers only." If I activate the sim kit as a 6-month casual plan, will I get this extra data? Thanks

        • No

          • @celery juice: Hi mate. I activated yesterday at 6pm to get 60 gb, but only got 30gb. Who can fix it?

            • @amorn: It will be easiest to head into your local shop, they can check when it was activated and if you received the data or not.

  • i just need internet, so the other 2 options currently are better lebara and amaya

  • Doh.

    • I had same, then switched payment card details and went thru - sim arrived today Expires 9/25. Can only guess maybe something went wrong with first card (I might have mistyped)

    • I made the effort to visit the store. They checked my ID, but said everything was ok and proceeded to put through the purchase online.
I used a different credit card and it went through without any issue. I guess I may have mistyped my other card details.

  • Anyone facing issues while porting to Telstra , I have been trying for the last 2 days. It will verify my id and address and everything and last step is keep failing

    • Try doing it on another device. See this possible solution.

      • Thanks, it did not helped but contacted customer care and able to activate it

  • Still pending shipment after a week. The deal said activate before today to get the promo extra data, but Telstra doesn't want me to have it

    • +1

I wish to switch to neg vote

    • before today? I was told by an Affilliate here that it is good to actvate anytime before expiry. So I was plannng to activate tomorrow to also get the new increased data ? under the plan. Am I being wrong to trust ?

      • The $35 SIM contains only 15G data but 60G under promotion, it says activate by 21 Oct or we will lose the promo part of 45G

        • Does 60GB apply if I activate the sim kit as a 6-month casual plan? Thanks

          • +1

@amorn: Of course not. There will be 2 options when you activate this, one is normal 28-day 15(+45)GB data unlimited call and text, the other is casual 6-month 350MB data limited call and text.

            • @Meteor Anarcom: Activated last night only to get 60 GB, but only got 30GB. Who can fix it?

              • @amorn: Try online chat via Telstra app. I don't trust them anymore

      • nothing bad for long expiry option, but only when we need the 28-day plan

    • Just checked again, they were shipped 4 days after I placed the order, and they are shipped from NSW while I'm in VIC. I doubt they did this intentionally. I couldn't find any reason for them to ship from another state while there are plenty of local stock.

      • most of my sims from NSW, nothing wrong with it as they have distribution centres there. if you still havent received your sim, contact Telstra, they have the tracking number and will probably send you another one.

        • The point was they held my order until they could make sure I cannot receive them within the promo period so I will not be able to obtain the extra 45G data

  • Are the Telstra points redemption sims any cheaper as well?

    • Yes. I redeemed 4 of them. Each for 4200 pts

      • -1

Any idea what they are normally. Got 42k points..might load up.
