Powered by a CR2032 button battery

damn i rather prefer a slightly bigger body but take AAA

  • Pictures make it look a lot larger than it actually is.

Just like Temu items. They get young girls with tiny feet and hands to model items.

      • +3

Or they just overlay a big product image on a small background, no tiny girls needed

        Like that tent from temu

Damn thought it was a smart device, would have been nice for homeassistant

    • Same, they do not even mention, so I presume their own app does not support routines/automation

      • get tapo but way more exp

Ecowitt WN31/WN32 with their gateway can connect to homeassistant, $20 per sensor, I think the gateway is $40 or so

      • How are you finding these units?

        • Sorry for delay. I actually love the whole system, wish I'd spent a bit more to get the display gateway instead of just the network one and relying on my phone. Downside is when the power goes out (which is often here) the data can't be stored anywhere to be uploaded later so I get gaps in the data

I was thinking about getting a power bank with passthrough for the gateway which should solve the problem, but the displays probably have batteries in them anyway, I don't know

This one comes with touchscreen and more functionalities but not sure of the quality.

Much better option is the Govee
    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B08DJ5HF1G?ref_=ppx_hzod_title_…

AAA batteries (Eneloop work fine with around 2 year life) + Bluetooth. Can be integrated into a smarthome (home assistant) or read its memory via smartphone app.

Currently on sale for $16.79 with the discount.

This. Integrate directly to Homeassistant without any hassle

    • Can vouch for this, I own 6 of these Govee H5075 units, been running them for the last two years in Home Assistant and they've been flawless, and accurate. Well worth it even if you don't use them with smart home integration, TBH.

The 2x AAA batteries usually last 8-9 months or so before they have to be replaced.

Need something like this but to also include a wireless outdoor unit, so that it displays indoor and outdoor temps.

    • I used to think this too but eventually I just settled for hanging a Govee H5075 on the balcony outside my kitchen window. For ~$17 it's well worth it, and the flawless Home Assistant integration means I can check on the temperature and humidity at any time from anywhere (I use Tailscale for free remote access to my Home Assistant instance).

cheapest outdoor temperature reading I use is a $1-2 stick thermometer with hygrometer, I blutacked to the outside glass of two windows at my face level - where sun usually doesn't shine (that spikes temp readings) - one on south side, one on north side so I can always find an outdoor ambient temperature if the sun is shining on the other one.

so I wake up, open the curtains, glance at the reading for the outdoor temp and humidity - easy, done - and never needs batteries.

looks like this - https://www.ebay.com.au/itm/375495245751 - but I'm pretty sure I found them in like a $2 store for way less than $9.40 each
