Had one of these for a year or so and they’re great.

    • +1

same, run a couple constantly without any issues

      • I have one and it seems to throttle its output (but keeps going) soon after getting hot at full power

        • 100%. Can do 100w for about 30mins and then turns off for 10, back on for 10 etc etc

          • @mfazackerley: Does this become frustrating at all? Obviously would extend how long until the item is fully charged too.

Was looking for one for in the car to charge macbook air between meetings/when on the road. Concious in WA though too that during summer this heat throttling frequency may be more a hinderance.

            • +1

@BradeDoe: I think the macbook air only draws 65w so it probably won't happen for you.

I've got a Zbook Fury and the minimum it can run off is of 95w so I suspect the charger is actually toggling between 100w and 65w when it gets hot. Because my laptop can't run off 65 though it appears to be off for me

        • +1

Yes it does tend to throttle the output if you’re maxing it out for an extended period. Pretty sure mine drops to 60W when it throttles.

  • +1

What's wrong with this one with cable included for original price?

    https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B0B3CSLPZR/ref=sspa_mw_detail_0…

    • +4

Nothing, $5 for a good quality 100W cable isn't bad at all.

    • unfortunately the coupon does not apply to this but nice find.

  • Pardon my nativity, but would running something like this regularly reduce the longevity of a 12v battery?

    • +2

      No not at all

  • +1

Is this this really drawing 130w/12v=10.8A ?

    • I am thinking about the same thing, most likely to be very hot under 130w load.

    • No, it's a BS Chinese rating. I have one and definitely does not make anywhere close to 100w on the USB-C port.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 requires 45W to recharge at "Super Fast Charge 2.0". This charger cannot get anywhere near it, my phone never initiated the 45W charge speed. On the contrary, my 6 year old 60W Kogan power bank does every time.

      • Thanks. Had my doubts. The contacts in the cigarette lighters don’t seem to be big enough for 10A.

For the parent: 10.8A doesn’t even factor in the power regulator inefficiency. Assuming 90%, you’re now up to 12A.

        • +3

For the parents, this is perfect.

          • @DeeTrance: When I said parent, I meant the parent comment to yours (the one you responded to) 😄

        • If you go to the bottom of the Amazon page in specifications it shows that the USB-C 2 port goes up to 100W but its not at 12V but 20V/5A max, this reduces heat output as it doesn't go higher than 5A. I have this charger and the USB-C 2 port performs well when under PD load. I can charge my Samsung TAB S8 ultra, Dell XPS laptop and Kogan 26,800mah PD 118W power bank all at 20V. It can also charge other devices on the other USB ports while PD charging at 20V.

      • +3

Maybe you have a faulty one? Mine does 45w and 100w as per the spec. Have been going strong for a year

      • +1

I can get 100w from the usb c port (using an HP Zbook Fury).
It does throttle after about 30mins though

    • At a cars operating voltage of 13-14 volts, technically speaking it would keep it under 10A.
Most cars, especially older ones usually have a 120w limit on the 12v auxiliary plugs due to having a 10A limit on that wiring and should be fused as so.
Care should be taken if running one of these adapters at full load.

  • +1

Bought one of these and overheated and smoked out my car after 18 months.

  • Just be aware that the one I got a few months has started throttling after 30mins or so of drawing 100w on the usb c port.

Because my laptop can't be powered on less than 90w it basically turns off for 10 mins then back on for 10mins etc

Does anyone know if this can charge an Oppo Find X5 pro at its max of 80W? Super vooc protocol I think it's called (but I've struggled to get find anything that uses that terminology).

    • +1

It says not supported in the description

    • +1

It doesn't do any proprietary charging, like VOOC or Warp Charge: Not compatible with private protocols like: Xiaomi Turbo, OnePlus Warp and OPPO VOOC.

    • I used it for my oppo findx 5 pro was fine for 12 months and then turned uBlack after smoking up.

I remember when these things used to cost $4 at the corner store.

    • +3

      At 130w? No chance.

The difference between a good quality high power charger like this and the crappy cheap ones that barely charge your phone by 1% an hour is night and day.
Same as when you use the charging points on a plane that barely even stop your battery from draining.

I have a similar one to this in my car and my phone battery will easily charge 80% during my half hour commute.

    • These specs never cost $4 at the corner store.

  • finally wife and me can charge our phones at the same time. thx OP.
