  • 5700g = 3700x/3600 tier due to lack of l3 cache

    nowhere close to 5600/5700x

will bottleneck the 4060 (can't believe im saying this) esp at 1080p

you are essentially buying a r5 3600 + 3060 pc in terms of gaming perf, would pay like 500-600 max

    • Looks like someone hasn't looked up benchmarks for this cpu/gpu combo huh

      Bait.

      • the 5700g is about 30% slower than a 5700x/5600 for gaming loads, the gpu does not matter here when testing cpu bottleneck.

it has half the L3 cache, basically a reverse x3d cpu, reasonable for an APU but when you have a 4060…

    • Cool. Well, when you find a prebuilt with those specs for “$500-$600 max”, make sure you post it on ozbargain.

      • A 5700g is much slower than a 5600 or 5700x for gaming loads due to the lack of cache, and you can find plenty of Ozbargain posts with those + 4060 around 800-900.

Performance on 5700g + 4060 would be similar to the 5500 + 3060 posts around $600, techfast etc all have them.

You shouldn't buy this unless you need a igpu + dgpu for some reason, 4+ monitors etc.

        • 8mb L3 cache is pretty horrible, reasonable for an APU but when you have a 4060…

          Pretty sure it has 16mb?

Just 5700g should not be paired with DGPU, the whole point is the igpu. It's much slower than a 5600 for gaming.

From everything I’ve read, you seem to be greatly exaggerating your point. I also don’t see the CPU bottle necking the GPU in many scenarios. Also, this a very budget build.

          • @aja12: 16mb yes, still terrible for zen3.

Even 32mb bottlenecks hard, just see the dramatic difference between 5800x and 5800x3d.

            It's pretty commonly known that 5600g = 3600 and 5700g = 3700x in terms of gaming perf.

Not worth considering at this price point when you have actual 5600 builds around the same price.

            • @HPdeskjet: Here’s a 5600 vs 5700g cpu gaming comparison paired with a 3070. Care to point out the huge bottleneck?

              • @aja12: I guess it does show that there are lower framerates, means that CPU is bottlenecking

                • @shabaka: In that video some games 5700g were better.

But at the end compared to gala 4060 build or techfast.

The HP gets u windows fully installed and activated. ( For the average Joe this is huge savings and also time saving )
                  Full WiFi and bluetooth.
                  1tb of HD extra.
And build in 5.1 speakers. Lol!

                  • @ttt888: See below post.

The 5700g is ~24% slower across the board vs a 5600 (134fps vs 166fps avg @ 1080p), with the exception of a few games that aren't cache intensive.

                    https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-ryzen-5-5600g-revie…

Personally I'd take their reputable dataover a random youtube channel with 8k subs and inconsistent testing metholdogy / hardware.

                    • @HPdeskjet: Do you mind swapping my 4060 with the 3090 in the benchmark and I will agree that the 5700G is going to cause slow down in any modern games.

                  • @ttt888: And free shipping, and possible use of eBay GCs with 10+% discount.

              • @aja12: https://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/amd-ryzen-5-5600g-revie…

From most reputable sites the difference between 5600 and 5700g is 20-30% favoured towards the 5600 @ 1080p.

In the TH test suite, it's 134fps vs 166fps average across 40 something games, so a pretty good sample size.

23-24% perf diff is pretty significant for me.

                • @HPdeskjet: I used pc-builds.com bottle neck calculator and fps calculator using 4060 card in all occasion the 5700g return a tiny better result vs 5600.

                  • @ttt888: None of the bottleneck calculators out there are even remotely accurate.

                    https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapc/comments/1axzsbo/bottlenec…

I mean I gave esentially the most reliable gaming test benchmark database that exists a source and cited specific numbers, I'm not sure what else you want.

Anandtech dosen't exist anymore etc, GN has a smaller test sample, TPU has too small of a test sample etc, and those are all also considered extremely reputable.

You're not going to find a better source than Tom's Hardware for CPU gaming data specifically.

                    • @HPdeskjet: Oh well. I guess we gone overtime on this topic. Overall is a budget under $900 gaming pc.

As I listed out before the HP has its advantages.

                      • @ttt888: I personally would take one of the techfast 5600 + 4060 deals at $748, considering that one is literally 20-30% faster than this one.

                        https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/868308

But fair enough to your points, activated windows + extra 1TB HDD + WiFi is pretty useful to a buyer, especially for someone looking for a no hassle prebuilt.

                        • @HPdeskjet: plus free shipping and possible use of eBay GC's with 10+% discount.

                        • @HPdeskjet: I personally will take the HP, playing modern 1080P MAX games knowing that 5600 will have 20% more idle time than my 5700G while the 4060 maxed out.
Also knowing that the 5700G doing most of the other multi threads stuff faster.

                • +1

@HPdeskjet: Do you mind swapping my 4060 with the 3090 in the benchmark and I will agree that the 5700G is going to cause slow down in any modern games.

    • 5700G is going to bottleneck the 4060? Which games from 10 years ago is that? Even if that happens, most likely this combo is producing a decent frame rate at this price segment anyway.

  • Hmm I just realise this. For a $863 pc,

Since the CPU has a decent integrated graphics u can just remove the 4060 gpu and build another gaming PC.

The gpu currently is around $460 at Amazon with free shipping.

So basically u got a fully activated Windows PC with integrated graphics.
    🤣

Don't think HP is selling their basic desktop for 400.00 lol.

Harvey Norman is selling a HP desktop with 5700g for $1298.🤣

    • Not sure HP has put any DP or HDMI for onboard graphics even though the CPU is capable. Look at the pictures in this ebay listing for another Victus 15L with Ryzen 5 5600G

      • There is a HDMI port on that one you linked so fingers crossed

      • Specs shows 3 DP and 1 Hdmi2.1 which are std ports for a typical 4060 card.

Darn I guess all the video ports are on the gpu only.

      • +2

see my comment above, mb does have VGA and HDMI, and in the mb documentation it is stated too:

        (1) RJ-45 Ethernet port
        (1) HDMI 1.4b/HDCP 2.2 port
        (1) VGA output port
        (3) Audio ports (Line-in/Line-out/Microphone)
        (4) USB 2.0 Type-A ports

"Integrated video is not available if a graphics card is installed."

so yes this can be used without GPU

    • That's a win in my book! Save another $50!

    • Man it's a win for u.

    • Same msg from HP for me too. $50 off an already great deal is gravy.

  • got it today, 2 questions

do we format and reinstall windows? if so safe to just copy down the window key and reuse?

do we need to register hp for extra warranty ?

    • Does it have HDMI and VGA connections on the back? Not from the GPU that is

      • +2

https://imgur.com/a/vh0alTk looks like they dont want you to use the onboard stuff, they covered it

        • Looks easy to remove tho haha

          • @CodeXD: yea 100%

are people selling the card? then using the onboard stuff? or building 2 pc?

            • @SS625: For me keeping my options open.
Knowing that without the 4060 it works well as any hp standalone desktop selling for 1k++.

          • @CodeXD: I think to stop people plugging in the mb hdmi and then wonder why the gaming pc is so slow when playing games. Lol

Since this is marketed to the average mum and dads.

            Or it's totally disabled.

        • +4

Mine just arrived. I can confirm the onboard hdmi is working, can't be bothered to unscrew and test the vga port.

  • does anyone have an issue when mouse pointer is freezing every few seconds in Windows? very annoying

P.S. very interesting. I have 2 razer devices: keyboard and a mouse, both wireless. on my old pc I had them both mapped to the same dongle, no issues. but this one has issues. as soon as I reassigned them to 2 dongles as they originally were, problem disappeared. so random.

  • How does the fan sound on this? Loud or quiet?

    • +1

played some Death Stranding, with DLSS Performance in 4k, and it was rather quiet

      • On mine, the fan is quiet on "Quiet" and "Performance" settings in Omen Gaming Hub. But "Default" setting is quite a prominent fan sound. Any reason for this?

        • I never changed out of default mode. strange

mine is whisper quiet l, but I haven't played for prolonged periods of time

        • +2

I guess everyone experience is not the same? eg. If Someone who has not use a desktop for many years now will be shocked at how noisy a desktop fan is even in when not playing games on it?

  • -3

Interesting it comes in a sustainably manufactured box from Wuhan.

  • +3

interesting that it has 3 SATA ports on the MB but only 2 SATA power plugs on the PSU. I successfully added a SATA 2.5" SSD into the box with a spare SATA cable and using the free SATA power plug, works well

also planning to stick another PCIe x1 to NVME converter and put in another 2TB NVME I have beating about..

already cloned original drive onto a 980 PRO 2TB and replaced that.. that takes total storage to 3 drives: 2 (SATA SSD) + 2 (NVME SSD) + 1 (HDD that came in it) = 5 TB. then will see if the PCIe x1 NVME slot works then I'll add another 2 TB

not bad for a reasonable size system. note that the second SATA can be another 3.5" HDD, so you could buy 2 identical drives and have a software RAID through Windows Storage Spaces for instance. just speculating, a lot of folks won't even need so much storage and / or RAID

..OR just chuck out that 1TB HDD and put in another 2.5" SATA SSD, why even have a spinning disk in 2024

    • PCIe x1 to NVMe adapter works fine, installed another NVMe SSD in it.

  • +3

didn't think I would say this, but 4060 actually surprised me. I can comfortably play the games I want on my 4k gaming monitor.

I recommend running NVIDIA built-in performance optimizer, mine resulted in extra +165MHz in GPU core speed. takes 30 minutes or so. to do that, make sure you got latest NVIDIA Experience installed, then press Alt + Z to bring up overlay, click performance and enable "Automatic tuning". leave the system running for 30 minutes and you're done

overall super happy with the system. sold on my old RTX 3070 system with 9th gen i9 for roughly the same kind of money, so 1-to-1 replacement lol

solid deal! super happy. thank you OP

    • Didn't know of that before! Hopefully could generate a few more fps :)
