So the current listed price on that site is $180 and now we have this incredible deal that reduces the price from $180 to $141 by using the coupon 50OFFCOONAWARRAMIX.

And from $180 to $141 we are told that is a 85% saving! Wow! ColesWorth teached these guys some marketing skills.

So, actual 21.6% price reduction from $180 to $141 is marketed as 85%!

    P.S.
A real 85% off from the current selling price of $180 would be $27, not $141.

    • To be fair, the $50 voucher is off the pre-shipping price. Shipping is $11. So 180-50 + 11 =141.

Also the 85pc off claim is from the 900 “rrp”, not the 180. Without knowing how legit the 900 price of course.

But basically the maths checks out.

If $900 to $141 is accurate, why is this post so quiet? Would this be considered legit?

    • +2

The deal is for applying the coupon to get from $180 current selling price to $141. 21.6% real discount vs fake advertised discount of 85%.

      • +1

        Ok that makes perfect sense.

    • Cuz we don't know which wine those are. Could be great, could be wasting.

      • It's a Devitt & Moore. Ordered their last deal. Fantastic drop.

        • Could be liquid gold as well. The problem is that the discount is from $180 to $141 and it’s 21%. Nowhere near the claimed 85%.

          • @ALBastru: Good deal's a good deal. The marketing surrounding it is bunk, for sure. But somehow it's not impacting my enjoyment of the wine.

  • You also get a $50 off voucher for your first purchase anyway - DD50

    False advertising!

    • Look at their past so called promotions. All fake.

14 posts in the last 3 months, so probably average more than once a week, is certainly a bit rich.

Have a neg for expiring this post 2 days ago so you could post it again basically using OzB like it's a website for free adz.

    Fake 85% off.

  • +1

It is tagged as marketing. But it is just a very bad one, especially for ozb audience

  • +4

Negative as per comments above. It's not a genuine 85% off sale. Deceptive.

    • +3

      Ditto.

      • +3

Yup, deceptive and misleading promotion. This doesn’t belong on ozb.

Fake RRP which one one ever pays

    -ve for poor grammar.

  • The report of this fake deal was marked as "Resolved". However, even the ACCC states that:

Ways that a displayed price can be misleading

Comparing the displayed price to a recommended retail price (RRP) that no-one generally charges for the product.

    Source: https://www.accc.gov.au/consumers/pricing/price-displays

These guys do not sell that wine at the price they compare with, i.e. RRP. They sell it for $180 and they advertise a new price of $141 by using the coupon 50OFFCOONAWARRAMIX.

21.6% price reduction from $180 to $141 is STILL marketed as 85% off RRP and accepted as okay. I wonder why?

    P.S.

    Example from ACCC:

    Date: 24 November 2015

The ACCC considered that by displaying on its website statements next to images of certain Healthy Care products including:

    ‘Don’t Pay RRP $39.99’ ; and

    ‘Save $18.00’,

Epharmacy represented to consumers that by purchasing these products from the My Chemist, Epharmacy, or Chemist Warehouse websites they would save the specified amount off the RRP. In fact, the products had never been offered for sale at the RRP by those or any other retailers.
