  • Probably ok for a solo BBQ

I have used this to bbq for 4 people. Works fine, food is obviously slower but most bbqs we graze through the day rather then smash lunch out in 15 mins.

Love this comment. Low and slow. Savour that charcoal taste, move aside gas.

I whill not hear this slander about propane and propane accessories! Propane burns clean and is therefore superior product.

      I love to barbecue alone.

      • Hell yeah brother

      • I like to heat my sausage alone

      • Nothing beats a solo sausage sizzle

    What's the regular price?

  • can this be used as a smoker for smoked ribs

    • if you want to smoke a single rack, sure. you'd also need something to monitor the temperature

    • +6

Nah, you don't really have the space to do 2 zone cooking and fit even a small rack in. This will only be good for grilling or maybe smoking a couple sausages.

      Buy a used Weber kettle.

Perfect size for my desk at work!

I have this, not bad. used it once. Had it for 3 years

    • +3

      Sounds like a good purchase

    • +1

I used it a few times. Could never get the coals to stay hot for too long..
I assume there’s not much airflow with this.. or maybe my technique is wrong?

      • I own this and agree, I don't know that I'm a barbecue expert by any measure though haha

  • +5

    Confirming this is junk/landfill

Bought one years back and it didnt even do a good job

    • +2

How'd it compare to a Weber?
My Weber 47cm keeps getting borrowed without notice..

    • Whats the issue with it?

Works well with lunp charcoal. I use it for yakiniku. Much easier to cleanup than a hibachi grill.

    • maybe use it as a fire pit ;)

Paint will start peeling, followed by rust.

        • Have a similar one from BBQs galore. Has lasted 8 years so far no rust - blue enamble paint. Lives permanently outside. Can't fault it. But then again I paid the mighty sum of $35. Jumbuck brand is generally very cheap quality though.

good price for a naval mine

  • Not a good bbq. Can never keep the thing going..

Open the bottom vent with no lid, and both with lid on, unless you use damp charcoal there is no way it'll stop burning

    • +1

I have a few of there's and they get pretty hot. You do need a charcoal started too. The coals need to be white. Clear the ash out as you go because it goes cut airflow.

  • +5

Fyi - these require a certain amount of finesse to cook anything at a consistent temperature due to the size.

Mine was pretty much landfill after two uses, the bottom/top vent tabs are cheap plastic and melted off onto the table on first use :(
Made for a deliciously plasticky steak.

  • +2

    No it's garbage.
I bought for weekends away and not enough airflow.
Red hot charcoal dies out before cooking is done.

    • If you don't cover with the lid, it should last for a while.

    • chuck in a old brick

I use this for holidays as it's quite compact. Been using for a quite few years with no issues.

It works great for basic grilling, sausages, steaks, etc, can easily cook for a family on this.

I have used it once for smoking some ribs, but it's not ideal (although the ribs were delicious).

Also I'm pretty sure it's always been around the $20 price, that's what I paid.

Have had this for almost 4 years now. Have used a lot for charcoal bbqing for 4-6 people. Needs manual intervention especially when using the lid - keep it on too long and the charcoal goes out even with all vents open. Quite happy with it and never felt the need to upgrade as I just do basic bbqing - chicken, corn etc. Fast to cook, good to eat. Not suitable for slow and low. Great space saver as i just keep it in the shed or garage when not in use.

    • You can say that again … and again!

  • Where to camp for free these days? Went to the beach this week and see no tents at all. I must be behind.
