  • Been looking at these. Anyone who's already grabbed one. what's it like?

I’ve got one - was lucky enough to snag a unit from Dyson in exchange for an honest review.

In general, I’m pretty happy with the device. Our house is a mix of wood floors and tiles. I was shocked as to how much dirt it was picking up (as evidenced by how dirty the water was post wash).

There is a tray at the bottom which fills up with all the crap you pick up from the floor - this is a bit annoying. Best way to mitigate is to vacuum first - and use this for pure mopping work. Overall it does a solid job with mopping and cleaning up wet messes. Instead of yelling, I now get excited when the kids spill drink on the floor haha.

I use it probably 2-3 times a week - and its now part of our cleaning routine.

Would I pay $900 for one? Hmmm. Think that’s a bit rich if I’m honest. Maybe 6-700. I’m sure if people wait a couple more months, Dyson will start with the 30-40% discounts like they do on their other machines.

      Hope that helps.

      • You got one free in return for a review?

        • Yep. Just answered an email survey and they contacted me with the offer.

I highly recommend purchasing from Dyson first so you can trial it for 45 days. I found its cleaning performance lacking, and spent lot more time cleaning the device itself than expected. Currently looking into Bissel and Tineco range instead.

    • Can you please describe its performance more? Is it not scrubbing the floor well, or is it not picking up the water well?

      • +2

Not cleaning as well as you'd expect. Certain spots remained. Its not leaving dirty water around, just not quite scrubbing certain things off. I suppose due to the weight. A normal mop you can force into the surface more.

Wow. I've heard all I need to hear. ~1k and performance lacking. That's nuts.

      • Really? Wow it's not hard to convince you with little information. You must be a sales persons dream.

I'd want to first find out what floor it was being used on, what was getting stuck on the Dyson that required it to be cleaned so often, how often and long cleaning sessions were, how dirty floors were, and what mode of cleaning was being used.

I'm not wasting time on a detailed essay. Buy it and see for yourself in your situation. Have fun with the debris drawer.

Wouldn't even clean dried milk drops on floorboard (my cats a messy eater).

          • @stealth: Did you vacuum before using the G1? Pet hair can be quite bad.

            • +1

@ATangk: No. I paid $1000 to not have to.

    • Good point, however I’ve sworn off buying direct from Dyson as I had a faulty v10 vac and they refused to return it. They only want to repair which didn’t work at first and was a headache with all the back and forth. Next time I’d buy from a retail store where you can easily return a faulty item.

      Can recommend Tineco.

    • Just FYI,

Tineco is better for hard floor cleaning as it glides better due to raised head.

Bissell has also the capability to wash your rugs/carpets but and that's why the head is lower and sometimes struggle with debris.

I bought a Bissell Crosswave in the end because i like the ability to wash the rugs.

I actually went with bissell omniforce edge. It was realesed this month. What i find good is it has an option to dry vacuum as well, which most including G1 dont.

This is one of Dyson's flop vacs. I tried it out and returned it asap. I ended up getting a Roborock Flexi Pro. A almost perfect device. Currently on sale at Costco for $699 :)

    • Do you recommend Roborock flexi pro over vacuum robot?

    • Yeah the one at costco also comes with 3 bottles of Omo cleaner. Just trying to see if JBHifi will price match. Otherwise a trip to Costco. Need petrol anyway.

      • It's $699 delivered!

        • +1

so it may even be cheaper in store? at worst, i get a hotdog
          edit: JBhifi wouldn't pricematch

This is essentially a fancy wet/dry vacuum and not a steam mop type of device isnt it?

  • This or a tineco?

    • The Roborock Flexi Pro or Lite…

    • Can not say anything about this, but I just bought Tineco S5 Steam for around $450. It is perfect apart from a cord.

    • Tineco.

  • Not long ago on YouTube watched a comparison video between this and some Chinese wet and dry vacuum cleaners, this was so bad performed and get almost 0 points out of the review.

  • For the other comments on here that say get the Tineco, Tineco's start off great. I recommended it myself when I first got it, yet the performance dwindled over time and my charger ports rusted (common issue). Godfreys says its because the wet conditions + charging make it rusty. At the end it wouldn't pick up long hairs, just kept rolling them into clumps and that was with a new motor they replaced when they 'fixed' my rusted over ports - which they just brushed off some rust with a brush. Most of the screws rusted, which is stupid for an appliance exposed to water, and I take off all the parts to dry off after every use.

Got a dreame h12 pro and been pretty happy with it at the $550 I paid on Prime day, picks up way more fine hairs and the tanks are bigger. Edge to edge like the Tineco s7 and it fully dries off the roller with warm air after self cleaning, I just leave the roller in there now since it won't smell. Also has a suction only function, but I just go over my rugs on mop function as a refresher. I've read Dreame has better customer service, but I bought from Amazon anyway who would probably just take it back if any issues pop up.

  • Also a Dreame H12 Pro oner here.
Bought it for $600 on Amazon sale. (always on sale just need to keep eye on it).

The vaccum strength is very strong, better than my Dyson V11 Outsize.

Bought it so can mop and vacuum at the same time, so convenient. (also can select vacuum only mode).

Still use the Dyson for quick clean tips but the Dreame is worth it for the convenience, bonus it has the heated self brush clean.

  • I was thinking of buying this unit. Then I read Choice Magazine's article in September issue. You can read it for free on Flipster app if you have a library card. I bought Anko one for $49 which was rated number 2 in their test. They said price is not always an indicator of the quality.

I bought one and I am very happy with the performance. You will need to vacuum the floor before steaming the floor.

Very good performance and I would say thanks to Choice Magazine I have discovered that a lot of Aldi brand products are rated very well.

Hope the above comments helps someone.
