    Good fast … Cheap.

they said it was impossible to have all three..

  • +7

OP has some storyful memory to save onto this USB drive. Thanks for sharing.

  • +2

Was that the reason they are your ex because they stole drive?

    • +21

Yes. I had very important things on it like my super rare uncensored yaoi manga collection

      • Oh dear, and your bitcoin wallet..

      • What's yaoi? Not safe to google with work laptop? 😜

        • +2

They're little chocolate monsters with a prize inside :D

        • +1

Yaoi is often used to describe gay male comics or anime. For an excellent example watch Tweek X Craig. Episodes can now be watched from Australia :).

          • @Loopholio: Ahh right… I'm sticking with Dragon Ball anime then lol

          • +1

@Loopholio: Hey everyone, @Loopholio isn't just being a helpful pervert, he's linked a SouthPark episode which explains this genre of smut. As SFW as any other SouthPark episode I guess.
            Take a +

            • +1

@Deterrence: Thank you @Deterrence :). It's a great episode, not just funny, but it made me feel my feelings and tears actually threatened to come out! Craig's performance is perfect.

You've got spikes man, you've got spikes!

  • Heat generator!!!

    • +1

      Will be useful next winter.

      • Free energy!

      • Bring back the AMD FX series on that note….

    • +1

Are there any brands which don't run ridiculously hot anymore? Particularly for ones to leave plugged into a TV or router, etc.
I remember SanDisk started making hot ones like their Fit drives, but now looks like Samsung is the same.

      • Funnily enough, this is a good option. The metal conducts the heat away well.

      • +4

if you look at the story from the other side, drives with plastic housing doesn't "feel" hot, but at the same time the heat is trapped inside the plastic shroud, the NAND have to slow down big time to keep temperature in control.

    Why would i buy this?

    • +12

So your ex can steal it.

  • Damn I just spent around the same amount on a 64GB drive from Officeworks because I needed it right away.

  • +1

I got one for free… Came with the Tesla.

    • Yeah good replacement if the one they provide for dash cam stops working or breaks

      • +2

I actually replaced it with a Samsung T7 1TB SSD drive.

        • +1

Samsung T7 1TB SSD is a better choice unfortunately with it's current high price around $150, it's not as good value. Need to wait till it falls under $100 like last year.

          • @edfoo: On this topic, what's a good (reasonable) memory choice for Tesla built-in dashcam? Thanks

            • +1

@8at8: The Samsung T7 SSD is still a good and popular choice, though the value is not as good compared to last year. Otherwise stick to the factory 128GB USB stick which is the same as this Samsung BAR Plus.

    • Same but that one is 128GB.

  • Cheers op!

  • +1

    • Got 2 for $57.34

    That's less than $28.70 each!

  • Did your ex at least thank you for the memories

    • Even though they weren't so great

    • Soooo, do not buy?

    • Probably a bunch of SanDisk lovers ragging on Samsung.

I have 4 x 128Gb and a 64Gb for at least 4 years now for some of them without any problems, plug em' in the appropriate USB and the advertised speeds are pretty accurate.
2 of them live in my TV almost on a full-time basis.

  • +1

Why does the silver version have more upvotes than the black version, which was a few dollars cheaper last time?
They both appear to have the same speeds?!?

      Speed in title I guess

Samsung has so many USBs no one knows what's what, but 400MB/s is quite good.

      • +2

        +1 good marketing tip reminder.
headline makes quite a difference :P

        • +1

Like OP mentions these are really confusing to predict though, ie he mentioned 100MB/s.

I have a Kingston instead which is quite solid but $55 https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09DVPH8NQ
Got it for $40 after promos at the time

      • yeah but it's 400 read not writes…

        • Yeah, the above is 900 writes.

No messing around with marketing titles.

      Smacks of racism to me.

      • +1

        Bloody stupid?

      • If you meant as a joke, at least put a smiley or /s.
Otherwise your post will come across as being stupid.

  • https://www.amazon.com.au/dp/B09DVPH8NQ $55 for 1GB/s speeds

They've been down to ~$40 with a discount promo

    • Can't edit, just benchmarked mine and it's BS. Barely manages 40MB/s.

Amazon must know because they refunded it without even requiring a return.

Write speeds on the USB or the ex?

  • Not a USBC connector port - heads up for the Mac users

  • -3

I ordered two of these in November 22 for $71.
Do you reckon I can get a refund?
