[My NRMA] 4¢-5¢/L off Petrol & Diesel at Ampol Foodary (Stacks with Woolworths Fuel Discount at Selected Locations) @ NRMA

510

My NRMA members can now stack the (up to) 5c/L discount off petrol and diesel with the Woolworths fuel discount (6c/L in Tasmania, 4c/L elsewhere) at approximately 200 Ampol Foodary service stations. Previously, only one discount could be used at a time.

This combined discount can now also be used in conjunction with the My NRMA spend in-store offer: if you spend $5 or more in one transaction in the Ampol Foodary convenience store on non-fuel purchases (excluding tobacco and purchases of gift cards) and present your My NRMA discount, you will receive another 4c/L discount to redeem on a future fuel purchase. This means you can get a total saving of up to 13c/L (or 15c/L in Tasmania) between these three discounts. You'll also earn Everyday Rewards points on any fuel and eligible in-store purchases (excluding Ampol Foodary service stations in Tasmania).

Access the My NRMA discount through the QR code in the My NRMA app. You can also use the My NRMA app to identify Ampol locations that accept the NRMA discount. You can access the Woolworths discount by scanning your Everyday Rewards membership card, or surrendering the fuel discount voucher towards the bottom of the Woolworths receipt.

For payment, you can use AmpolCash physical gift cards and AmpolCash Digital gift cards (but not Everyday WISH gift cards, EG Ampol gift cards or Essentials gift cards).

Terms for the My NRMA discount:

  • 4 cents per litre off the Pump Price (incl. GST) for Base grade fuels including Unleaded, E10 and Diesel, up to 150L per 24 hours.

  • 5 cents per litre off the Pump Price (incl. GST) for Premium fuels Amplify 95, Amplify 98 and Amplify Diesel up to 150L per 24 hours.

Not available at EG Ampol and independent Ampol retailers.

  • Probably a lone voice here but I never bothered trying to scrape cents off petrol prices. I just pay what’s at the bowser at the time and maybe drive a few minutes to save 20-30c. Just doesn’t seem worth it when a tank is 40L so i’d be saving 4 dollars here. Handing in my ozb badge now.

    • How often you drive? A tank a month? A week?

    • +4

Yeah, but if you happen to have an Ampol near you, then why not take advantage? I agree, it’s not worth driving far for petrol savings, but i always check a fuel app before buying to find the cheapest petrol on my journey - and can count on additional 8 or 9 cents off at Ampol.

Better than buying blindingly and paying $2/litre, when you can find it down the road for $1.65/litre!

  • They bring back the stacking discount? I think last year they not allow, I can only use either 4c but NOT both, good to know they are back !!! Thx!

  • Does this apply to NRMA insurance customers as well? Or just NRMA roadside assistance ("My NRMA")

    • -1

      Roadside assistance only

    • +1

You can have My NRMA membership (which qualifies you for this discount) without roadside assistance. Basically you need to be a member of the NRMA.

If you only have NRMA insurance then you’re just an IAG customer, not an NRMA member.

    • +2

I got a free myNRMA membership via an OzB posting a couple of years back. I can see the discount code in the app.

  • As per the other post. The Toyota app stacks as well. Guessing the Origin 4 cents will as well.

    • +1

Origin discount can only be used at EG Ampol, not Ampol Foodary

      • Are you sure?

These used to be EG only offers, but this very post suggests that has all changed?

        • +2

The Woolworths fuel discount offer is accepted at both EG Ampol sites and selected Ampol Foodary sites. This is a hangover of the previous joint venture between Caltex and Woolworths, all of which accepted the Woolworths fuel discount offer: most of the joint venture sites were operated by Woolworths, but a large number (over 100) were operated by Caltex. When the joint venture was dissolved in 2015, most of the joint venture sites operated by Caltex continued to accept the Woolworths fuel discount offer, although I think Caltex then expanded the list of Caltex-operated sites accepting the Woolworths fuel discount offer in 2018.

Woolworths Petrol (which were the Woolworths-operated sites formerly part of the joint venture) had a spend in-store discount offer for a long time, which settled at spend $5, get 4c/L off. However, I don’t think Caltex Starmart ever had such a deal… Even with the transition to Ampol Foodary (and for a while, Ampol Woolworths Metro(Go)), there was still no spend in-store discount offer at those sites.

EG (which had taken over the Woolworths Petrol service stations in 2019) started offering a discount through their EG Club app in 2020 (I think) that you could stack with the existing Woolworths fuel discount and spend in-store discount. In 2021 (I think), EG then started offering various fuel discounts through various partners (e.g. Origin Energy, RACV, RAA) that you could also stack with the existing Woolworths fuel discount and the spend in-store offer. The My NRMA offer and Toyota offer has never been accepted at EG Ampol; it is only ever been accepted at Ampol Foodary.

The big deal of this deal is two-fold:

          • Ampol Foodary now has a discount offer for in-store spend on convenience store items.

          • Ampol Foodary service stations accepting the Woolworths fuel discount now officially allow you to stack the Woolworths fuel discount with one partner discount (as well as the new spend in-store offer).

@WookieMonster: Cheers for the detailed reply.

            I take from this…

            1. 4c Woolies $30 spend vouchers, and in store spend discounts are now available (and stackable) at Both Foodary and EG.

            2. 10c Toyota and NRMA are also stackable..but Foodary only.

            3. Origin, AGL, RAA etc are definitely also stackable at EG stations with only 1. above….but not sure if they are allowed yet at Foodary (like the in-store spend used to be EG only, but is now both).

            4. Get an electric car..saves the need for a Phd in spending and stacking…. nek minute chargefox+ampol+,,,

            • @tunzafun001: Having spent more time reading about this new My NRMA offer, it is a bit more complicated than I first thought.

              In regards to your takes:

              1

The spend in-store offer from EG Ampol is completely separate to the spend in-store offer from Ampol Foodary.

The Woolworths fuel discount offer can be stacked with the spend in-store offer at EG Ampol. The discount from the spend in-store offer is an instant discount, which means it needs to be redeemed in the same transaction as your fuel purchase. Anyone who spends $5 on eligible convenience store items can get the 4c/L discount, so you do not need to redeem a Woolworths fuel discount or an EG / partner discount to get this spend in-store offer. (That has not changed as a result of the refreshed My NRMA offer.)

The Woolworths fuel discount offer can be stacked with the My NRMA spend in-store offer at Ampol Foodary, but only at selected service stations, because only 36% of Ampol Foodary service stations accept the Woolworths fuel discount offer. The My NRMA spend in-store offer requires you to scan the My NRMA discount, but the discount from spending $5+ on most convenience store items is not actually applied until a future fuel purchase (and you have to wait up to 72 hours before this discount is loaded onto your My NRMA card). You can see on the My NRMA app when this discount is available for redemption (and you may get an email about this too), but you only have 28 days to redeem this discount. All the evidence I have seen so far is that the My NRMA spend in-store offer is only available to My NRMA members, and I have not seen any evidence of any other types of customers being able to access the spend in-store offer; for example, I checked the Ampol Foodary offer on the myHyundai portal this evening, and I cannot see anything about Hyundai owners being able to access any spend in-store offer (nor being able to stack the Woolworths fuel discount offer with the myHyundai offer).

              2

I still suspect the myToyota cannot officially be stacked with the Woolworths fuel discount offer, because the myToyota website still does not listed the Woolworths fuel discount offer as something that can be officially used in conjunction with the myToyota fuel discount offer. Granted, we did see someone this week say their Ampol Foodary was happy for them to stack the Woolworths fuel discount offer with the myToyota offer, so who knows whether the myToyota website is slow to be updated.

              3

Since when did EG Ampol offer a discount to AGL customers? I thought BP offered a discount to AGL members at selected BP service stations.

EG Ampol is operated by EG Australia, which is independent from Ampol Retail Pty Ltd (which operates Ampol Foodary service stations). EG Australia and Ampol Retail organise their own fuel discount offers independently from each other, although they both have the Woolworths fuel discount in common (but I already explained before why that is the case). In other words, unless Ampol buys out EG Australia's service stations, I would not expect the Origin Energy discount (for example) to start working at Ampol Foodary anytime soon, because Ampol Retail would need to strike their own deal with Origin Energy (and who knows whether that will piss off EG Australia in the process).

              4

Fair point haha. I mean, there was a reason I wrote the Fuel Discounts wiki. There are a lot of fuel discount offers out there…

              • @WookieMonster: You are correct re AGL at point 3. It is indeed BP and it's 6 cents. I was loading up all these annoying fuel apps the other day and confused myself.

              • @WookieMonster: Tunza was possibly thinking about Origin Energy which has 4cpl Ampol EG barcode, 4cpl for Ww $30 spend and 4cpl for $5 EG in-store spend. I might have to change strategy if the Toy/Ww discounts don't stack esp as I get >120l of U95 at most visits.

Is there currently any way of identifying which Foodaries will stack the Toyota and Ww discount?

                • +1

@Igaf: I do not think the myToyota discount officially stacks with the Woolworths fuel discount, because there is nothing on the Toyota website to suggest it does. Is there anything in the myToyota Connect app to suggest it does?

If you want to give it a go stacking the Woolworths and Toyota discounts in Canberra, you can only attempt to do this at four Ampol Foodary service stations, because there are only four that accept the Woolworths fuel discount:

                  • Kippax/Holt
                  • Weston (opposite Cooleman Court shopping centre)
                  • Kambah
                  • Calwell

If you are on the go, you can use the My NRMA app to see which Ampol service stations accept the My NRMA discount. Ampol Foodary service stations that accept the Woolworths fuel discount will also be tagged with Everyday Rewards (except for the five Ampol Foodary service stations in Tasmania that accept the Woolworths fuel discount, but I doubt you are worried about that).

                  • @WookieMonster: Thanks Wookie, I'll check the NRMA app for ER Foodaries although I'm not confident about NRMA's map data accuracy.

I sent them a query a couple of weeks ago because their list of NRMA fuel discount outlets conflicted with their map info. They've "passed my query on" but given past experiences I doubt they've done anything.

          • @WookieMonster: Second point is good news for long suffering Canberra drivers. U95 best price currently ~187cpl while in Sydney it's 17+cpl lower. Wagga, which used to be 10cpl dearer than Cba, currently has 95 for an astonishing 163.5cpl. APCO please find your way to here.

          • +1

@WookieMonster: APOD (Australian Partners of Defence) had recently advertised on their Facebook and Insta (Social Media Platforms) over the past few days that their discounts at Ampol Foodary (5c/l for Standard and 8c/l for Amplify Premium) are now able to be stacked with the EDR / Woolworths 4c/l (6c/l in Tasmania) at over 200 participating (Foodary) locations across Australia.

  • Anyone know if you can use with the ampol app for pay at pump?

    • Unfortunately not. The NRMA discount can only be redeemed by scanning the QR code in-store

  • +3

    RACV stacks with Woolworths also

    • +2

Only at EG Ampol, not Foodary Ampol. But if you have both, you’re covered!

Also, even if you don’t have RACV (5c discount), you can get 4c stackable discount with the Arevo app.

  • Free RACV app AREVO gives 4c/litre off and stacks with Everyday Reward (Woolworths) 4c/litre off.

    No RACV membership required.

    • This seems to have changed from 10th sep 2024. Now if you stack woolies 4cents off voucher with Arevo's instant 4cent off voucher then you would only get a total of 5cents off. 4cents woolies (eg:- 30$ supermarket shop or WW EG's instore shop) + 1 cent (Arevo) = 5 cents only. You may check the updates terms & conditions on Arevo fuel voucher page.

  • I had to update the app to see it…This must be new because it was previously 3c off base grades. They've upped it to 4c and made it stackable with EDR 4c.

  • I've been using the NRMA 5c discount and scanned my Rewards card every time to get the Rewards points, but it didn’t stack with the additional 4c discount. I tried it at 4-5 different Ampol fuel stations.

    • +2

When did you last try? I got an email only yesterday so maybe the change is new. There is not start date mentioned in the email.

      • 2 weeks ago. But yeah, will try it again and check it out

        • +1

I did moments back and it stacked.

        • Popular Foodary locations do not accept Woolworths 4c/l off voucher, but award EDR pts.

In other words, even if you do not apply NRMA discount, Woolworths 4c/l off voucher still does not apply at these locations.

MyNRMA App displays the discount on its map by showing 4c (or without it) in line with EDR at a Foodary location.

          • @Neoika: As stated in the original post, only over 200+ participating Foodary locations that accept the Woolworths 4c/l voucher participate in the NRMA/EDR discount stacking. The Ampol Station finder also has a "Woolworths Fuel Discounts" filter highlighting over 200 Foodary locations around Australia that accept the Woolworths 4c/l voucher.

I wouldn't call all Foodary locations "popular" either, as the remaining 400 plus Foodary locations that only accept the EDR card for points are also scattered around Regional Australia as welll as the busy metro/surburban locations where EDR is only accepted for points.

            • @abr83: My perspective is Sydney Metro based, starting from Strathfield that is recognized as the centre of Sydney. The closer to it, the less likely to accept Woolworths fuel voucher. Of course you can find exceptions due to competition situation against others. Once it is the only option, no need to provide more discount.

Don't forget that in most regional areas, no Woolworths store around makes it pointless to offer its discount.

              • @Neoika: Depends on the region. Ww can usually be found in any moderately populous district in NSW.

                https://impact.packcentre.com.au/docs/packcentre_woolworths.…

              • @Neoika: I've used the Woolworths Store finder which include EG Ampol and Foodary Ampol filters, closer to the Sydney CBD the surrounding suburbs lists more Foodary sites that accept the 4c/L voucher with fewer EG Ampol and Points-only Foodary sites.

It seems once you zoom out in the WW store finder to include the outer surburbs of Sydney, the EG Ampol sites increase in the outer suburban areas.

As someone posted in another post, lot of regional areas have at least 1 WW and many regional areas usually have the 'dog-box' sized EG sites next to the WW, the nearby Foodary in those regional areas are generally the points-only EDR sites, with obviously some exceptions (a handful of regional Foodary locations are also 4c/L redemption locations) in selected regional towns.

    • Same here at Canberra airport Ampol Foodary but it was a few months ago.

      We received no notification NRMA.

    • The change is new, just this week. I just did a fill-up for a consecutive EDR offer ending 30 Sep, but I didn't have a fuel voucher on that account. NRMA Ampol discount did take 4c/l off the regular fuel (previous was 3c/l).

  • Got this email from NRMA too….
Just in time to stack with NAB spend $50 at Ampol, get $10 back goodies deal

    • dang got email today but just filled full last night as my NAB offer is to spend $80 …

  • The Long Running tag on this is wrong. The stacking or NRMA and Woolies discount ended long long back and has only now come back.

    • +4

The intention of the Long Running tag is for a deal that has no defined end date, but is expected to last longer than 45 days going forward. There is no end date for this deal posted anywhere on the My NRMA website, so it would be inappropriate to add a placeholder one to this deal.

If the Long Running tag was not assigned to this deal and an end date was not set on this deal, the deal would auto-expire after 45 days. This is specified in the Deal Posting Guidelines.

The Long Running tag is not intended to be a reflection of how long the deal has been around before it was posted to OzBargain.

      • +1

Thank you. Apologies all, i always misunderstood this tag.
