Laphroaig 10 Year Old Sherry Oak Finish Single Malt Scotch Whisky 700ml $99 + $15 Del ($0 w/ $200 Metro Spend) @ The Whisky List

580

Get a bottle of Laphroaig 10 Year Old Sherry Cask Single Malt Scotch Whisky for $99, which is $36 cheaper than anywhere else in Australia.

This is a supplier clearance due to a change in distributors, so once stocks are sold out, these prices are unlikely to be seen again.

This is one of the better Laphroaigs as well, if you like the stuff. Massive briny peat, balanced by the dried fruit sweetness of the Sherry casks. And 48% ABV giving it a good punch without being overwhelming.

  • Looks good, I've never tried one before but definitely interested. How does it compare against Ardbeg Uigeadail, Kilchoman Sanaig and Talisker DE?

    • +3

Probably most close to the Sanaig, but more briny and medicinal, maybe 'dirtier' lol

      • Thanks, ordered!

        • Cheers, enjoy!

It's good, … similar to Ardbeg Uigeadail, not rounded, a little sharp like PX casks. My point is… the sherry cask is quite dominant.
I haven't had Talisker Distiller Edition.
It's good to try it for this price for 48% ABV.
With current inflation, I would pay maximum $70 for Laphroaig Select Cask, $80 for Ardbeg ten, $120 for Lagavulin 16 years old and $115 for this Laphroaig 10 Sherry Cask.
So this is a very good price.

Some 'good old days' prices there hey! Keen to see them come back that way for sure!

      • I think I deserve a free bottle after I place my $3-4K order tomorrow. Still deciding if I want a Speymalt.

I was wondering who this was haha. Makes total sense. OISHII! ;)

      • Is it still $40 credit for the referee? It says $20 when clicking through on a referral.

  • Thanks for the post!
Bought 2… and I am feeling happy (for now,… until I have to explain and deal with my wife when credit card statement comes out :P )

Oh man. Enjoy the whisky and good look with the CC haha

  • There was a bottle shop in Sydney clearing out Laphroig 25yo for $399 a week or so back (now sold out).
Not sure what's going on with Laphroig supply/suppliers?

    • There will be ppl tracing you for the place, not like they can afford it.

    • +1

Change of distributors! And they're both massive companies, so it's a shit fight lol

  • Love the Whisky List!!!

    • Yes mate!!

Good! They can't handle the heat lol

  • I have bought a lot recently. Can I do a lay-by?

    • Haha good one!

I ordered this and a Laphroaig 10 Cask Strength batch 16 which is on special for $169. I've had every batch from 10 to 15 and they're all magnificent.

    • +1

      great call!

  • GL tasting any sherry amongst the smoke and iodine notes.

    • GL tasting anything else ;)

  • How does this compare to Glendronach?

    • +2

It's like comparing medium rare steak to mango gelato.

    • stig is not wrong. GD is rich dried fruit and baking spice. Laphroaig is smoke, salt and earth

  • Interesting, is it one of the newer release? I have never seen the Sherry Cask 10yo before. Is it similar to lagavulin 16?

    • It is! It's been out worldwide for a bit longer, but only brought here recently. And now on crazy special!

It's quite a bit different from Laphroaig just because the two distilleries are very different in style, but it has more of the rich sweetness from the Sherry casks, which is a profile many people like in Lagavulin.

      • Yeah i had the PX cask finish before. I guess this will be similar. Definitely will grab one for my upcoming birthday lol

      • Came in to buy a $99 bottle, ended up spending extra $139 to save $15 shipping

        • Muahaha. But also, nice haul!

  • Any other good deal/recommendations to hit free shipping?

    • +1

Definitely the Laphroaig 10 cask strength! Or a sample ;)
