Harry Potter 8-Film Complete Collection 4K $9.99 (from $79.99) @ Apple TV

4220

Definitely a price error. Get it while you can. Generally the lowest it's gotten to is $49.99: https://www.cheapcharts.info/au/itunes/movies/776215550/Harr…

Note: You don't need an Apple TV subscription. If not using Apple/Mac, you can create an apple account and download the Apple TV app in Windows and purchase/watch the film. You could potentially download the Apple TV app on your Smart TV and purchase there too. Once purchased, you can watch on the Apple TV app on your Smart TV. The subscription is an additional feature for Apple TV - buying/renting films is separate. You cannot use Android to purchase/watch the films.

  • Thanks OP. Bought.

  • Thank you. Purchased from iPhone with no issue. Awesome deal

  • Thanks OP, bought.

I used iphone, opened Apple TV app, typed Harry potter complete in search bar

  • It only shows me option to buy in HD (no 4K). It shouldn't depend on the device I am using as I can see other movies can be bought in 4K.

i bought without checking anything, just hit go… looking now in my library on my iphone 15pro max and says watch in 4k HDR.

      • Thanks. I bought in Itunes on my PC and it was hsowing HD on only. But accessing it through Apple TV shows them as 4K.

  • Thanks, Op!

For anyone else that uses a Türkiye apple account, it's only ~$3.83

    • lololol

    • Yes but you need a new account for that. Normally that would be worth it but for only a few more dollars I think it's worth getting it on your main

    • How is the experience using 2 apple IDs on 1 phone? Any problem with paying for purchases using australian cards?

I thought of it but not sure if it was worth the trouble

      • +1

Last I tried, it was not very convenient to use multiple apple IDs on 1 apple device, since you have to sign out and sign back in anytime you want to switch to a specific account. I don't have an Apple phone (an iPad is the only Apple device I have), and mainly just use my Türkiye account on my Android phone, PC, and Nvidia Shield.

It doesn't support Australian cards. You'd have to purchase Türkiye Apple gift cards. Best site seems to be TURGAME.

TLDR: Probably not worth the trouble on your primary apple device. But worth it if you're using it on any other device (Android TV, PC, Android, Non-Primary Apple Device).

So apple movies work on android TVs?

ETA, news to me, never thought there'd be an app lol!!!

          • @TEER3X: Of course. Download the Apple TV app from the Play Store and you're good to go.

It’s good for Apple TV. Takes a second to switch to secondary account from the menu. I am guessing not many people would watch it on iPhone anyway.

      • +1

Using two Apple IDs on an iPhone is totally fine. One can be used as the primary Apple account for iCloud, Find My, iMessage, etc., while the other can be used solely for Media and Purchases. If you plan on using Apple Music and buying media from Apple TV, you can easily access all the content on your phone. However, it can be somewhat inconvenient when you need to install apps that are only available in Australia, such as local banking apps. In such cases, you need to switch the Media and Purchases back to your primary account, install the apps, and then switch back to your TR account. Therefore, I recommend installing all the necessary apps first before logging into a separate account for Media and Purchases.

You are awesome, got it from the Turkish store just now and working great

  • is it only locked to Apple TV? howzat work

    • You can watch it on iphone, ipad, PC, apple TV

  • I can't see any purchase option at all! ** Should have read more - assume need to do via the app.

  • Thought it was Blu-Ray 4K for a second!

  • Is it better in anyway like resolution or any special features compared to what is available on Netflix?

    • It should be. Apple TV streams normally has a significantly higher bit rate than Netflix and particularly Amazon. You’ll need to have good Internet connection though, at least NBN50 afaik.

  • Just got my invoice through. Charged exactly as it should’ve.

  • Got it! Unreal! I've been chasing this for months. The price might be an atl.

Sadly the audio isn't spatial audio (just a flat Dolby Digital 5.1) so no Atmos but all films are at least in Dolby Vision. This is because all the Harry Potter films only support DTS X and since Apple TV doesn't support DTS X codec, we are stuck with a flat 5.1. Nice thing is Apple update their catalogue on a fairly regular basis to support new formats for free such as proper 3D for their Apple Vision headsets so I wouldn't rule out the possibility of these films getting DTS X support in the future

  • Hailo bossu.Thank you.

Worth noting Fantastic Beasts 3-Film Collection is also on sale for $9.99

    • doubt anyone wants that

  • Unreal price. Bought one when it was available. Thanks OP.

I am surprised to see this kind of reaction to the sale of digital media.

What is the context people will watch this? Watch it with kids/family or just randomly in the mood for older movies?

    • Yes me too, I thought if it was bluray 4k then fair play.

There's just so many other ways to get it online to be played offline for free lol.

This one requires a constant internet connection and an Apple TV account to watch. It also doesn't let you store it offline indefinitely correct?

      • +2

You can download to watch offline.

        • Until you can't.

You never own media when you "buy" it with DRM. Can be taken away at any point.

          • @PainToad: Blu ray discs have DRM too

            • @onlinepred: They have protection to try and stop you from copying them. The seller of a Bluray can't break into your house and take the discs away from you like they can with digital purchases.

              • @PainToad: They don’t need to break into my house to take anything with digital purchases…..

In fact one of the oldest purchases I made was on YouTube - a tv show called firefly. I bought it when it was 720p, and they are now 4k. That’s a sweet free upgrade!!!!! I don’t think you can do that with your old dvds

  • I have this on a good sony tv with dolby vision and apple tv 4k

The quality is crap for the first few movies, even some 1080p movies look better!

Not sure if it's the film grain…

    • +1

Agreed. I had the UHD Bluray boxset (which I've since sold) and had to read the packaging again to make sure I hadn't bought the 1080p boxset by accident lol! Terrible quality imo.

  • I mustn’t miss this type of deal on HP next time!
