  • Anyone purchased refurbished products from Breville in the past and can comment on product conditions?

I bought a barista pro, looks brand new with original packaging and protective stickers. Only two small dents on the front, near the buttons.

July 2024 I got a Breville the Bambino- Refurbished by Breville - BES450BSS Black Truffle for $290 with a eBay special like this. Arrived as new, no issues and happy with the machine. Used to have a larger BES860 for many years, this one feels more plastic on it but still makes good coffee.

edit: actually there was a problem. ShopBack tracked and confirmed as $0

Likewise I got a bambino (stainless) during that sale. As new condition and no issues.

got Bambino Black Truffle like the guy above lol last sale, looks and works like brand new, no issues

Bought a refurbed Breville Barista Pro as well - worked great, arrived near perfect except some minimal wear and tear marks on the stainless steel areas. Unfortunately a few months in we ran into some issues with the pressure and electrical noises (even when the machine was off but plugged in). Spoke to Breville support and eventually had it scheduled in for repairs at a local verified breville repair shop. Took maybe 4 weeks to get it repaired and now works perfectly with no issues since.

I wouldn't buy breville. Ours broke just outside warranty and every single thing about the product was designed to be non fixable. I had to order special tools from china.

      • That's not true at all. The back comes off easy and O-rings are easily accessible. Pump is easy to replace as well.

Thanks, bought it. Sick of my Dedica.

    How much rrp?

Having owned an Infuser and used friend's Duo Temp Pros, get the Infuser
still both very much entry level machines, but the Infuser was leagues ahead in the quality of coffee made
I now own an Isomac Tea Due and love it

Great machine… It was my first coffee machine and had it for a few years. But I bought brand new for $224 in 2018 from Harvey Norman…. Price matched from a Big W deal.

    • Yep same. Actually super happy with it.

  • Bambino or Bambino Plus?
I know plus has the automatic frothing but anything else is different?

    • Bambino. plus just means more hassle and cleaning. I make milk and froth using steamer nozzle on Bambino, no issues there

      • Awesome! Thanks I just bought the base bambino.

    • Bambino plus has a much stronger steam wand and is in general easier to use (bigger water tank means less refilling, bigger deck means you can fit a scale)

    • I have the Plus, and I would recommend it. The automatic milk frothing sounds like a gimmick, but is actually a convenient and useful feature (while the milk froths I go about grinding and tamping the beans which speeds up the whole process). The build quality is also slightly higher, the steam wand is better and the 3-way solenoid valve means the pressure cuts off immediately, so there is no dripping in your cup after you stop the shot. These are all improvements at the margins, but I reckon they're worth the little bit extra cost.

The other thing to consider is who's going to be using it? If you have other people who don't want to faff about making coffees, then the automatic features of the Plus make it a lot easier to use - I'd say it's the closest you're going to get to Nespresso level ease with great tasting coffee.

      • This is for the missus, we had barista express + smart grinder pro but recently sold the express due to moving and have no huge kitchen space, I was waiting for a good deal on bambino / bambino plus for her as she can make solid coffee with barista express

Got one from an op shop for $20. Solid machine, still going strong.

      True ozbargainer.

  • Is there a good option around for a steam wand only? We don't drink coffee but like frothed milk for chai/matcha etc

    • Breville has a milk frother machine

      • I have a Breville milk cafe. I'm specifically looking for a steam wand.

          • @smog: Interesting - thank you for sharing. Will check it out. Stovetop wasn't necessarily where I was thinking but good to know that this exists.

Lots of folks run a Bambino just for the steam wand!

Morning Dream and Meticulous Milk standalone steam wands are both coming out (from Kickstarter campaigns).

WPM ProSteam is the existing option in the market, but not cheap. (Or the La Marzocco Wally or Perfect Moose, if you are made of money! Lol).

Otherwise Bellman, as mentioned (and similar units like the Red Steamer from Indonesia and others from china).

If you just want better milk than Breville Milk Cafe, but dont need a wand per se, you might consider Nanofoamer Pro, Dreo Barista Maker (just coming off Kickstarter), or Nanofoamer Lithium (requires seperately heated milk). They should give better results / are capable of giving better results than your Breville Milk Cafe.

          • @caprimulgus: Thanks for the detailed reply.

I have an original nanofoamer that I'd basically forgotten about. Needing to heat milk separately is a bit of a pain but definitely worthy when I've got the time and will to make something better.

Thanks for the other suggestions, I'll check them out!

    • Mr Cappuccino!

side note: if you're in canberra, i have a portafilter, aluminum dosing cup, tamper, some filters for the water tank you can have. dm me for the address to pick up.

  • I bought a refurb from breville and it had multiple faults that were not fixed from the last owner that returned it. Huge waste of my time, never again.

  • Fantastic machine, bought one new and love it

  • Anyone know of any dual boiler stock / sales getting around atm?

  • Anybody bought from a refurb seller on Facebook? Found a few around Melb that it seems might refurb the machines, they say they’re certified repairers by Breville and they seem to offer 6 or 12 month warranties.

Some very cheap machines there but the sellers have good ratings on marketplace

    • Picked one up for $40 on fb from a private seller. Machine was 4 months old and the owner just wanted to get rid off because it's an impulse buy. I reckon you can pick one up for about $100 or so if you pay attention

  • 7 back in stock.
