  • What makes this particular model good? These looks nice. I do need to replace my ceiling fans..

    • +2

For like $205 delivered it’s hard to beat for those that need

      Dc
      A light
      Wifi control
A brand other than Arlec (don’t get me wrong, some of the arlwc stuff is actually ok)

I paid slightly more for a lower tier model in Martec , and it had dc wifi only, no light, and that was basically staff price

  • I take it the LED is integrated into the housing? How do you change it if and when it fails? Not that it's a major concern given how long LEDs are expected to last.

    • LEDs not replaceable unfortunately according to Martec.

      • +3

        Thats not good

      • +3

Lmao, seriously? Direct to landfill garbage. Was considering before this. Why would you cripple yourself to having to reinstall a whole ceiling fan to replace a light 😂

        • They probably expect the light to out live the fan

        • +1

I just had a Martec fan light fail on me again, first time was in warranty, close to new or out of the box, cannot remember. The model and light module is discontinued which means getting a replacement is impossible.

        • Putting aside the irreplaceability of the light, I think this is still a pretty good deal if you're just after the fans without the light.

    • +1

I rang and the part number is spmvdclkitw, about $50 for the housing.

      • That's interesting. Their official installation guide for the viper fans state that "LED lights are not detachable nor replaceable. It can only be supplied with the ceiling fan as one unit." It would be great news if the LED lighting unit can actually be changed.

        • +2

True of the older models with no wifi, note the model numbers in that documentation are different.

  • Considerably cheaper than the Mercator fans that i put through my place and similar warranty.

  • So your better off adding $16 worth of items for free delivery.

Wonder if these are outdoor/alfresco suitable, can’t see any regarding weather rating…

    • +1

It’s not weather or dust proof if that’s what you’re asking. I have my martec dc fan in an outdoor area though.

  • Anyone who can provide some reviews please?

  • +1

Just installed 9 of these. 52" 3 and 4 blade versions without light. They move a lot of air even on the lowest speed and are super quiet. Haven't tried the Wi-Fi side of things yet. Could have saved about 500 with this deal….

    • I want to buy a ceiling fan for my family / dinning room too and thinking between 52 - 56”. My area is apporx 5x7m though. My other ceiling fans in bedrooms were weak so I’m keen to get a strong one. Any different between 3 and 4 blades? Thanks

      • No notable difference in air movement between 3 and 4 blade. I went the 3 blade in my smaller rooms, so the fan doesn't look big in the space. I used a 52" in a 5 x 4m room ok. So maybe a 56 would be better. Then again a 52 vs no fan is still better

  • I want to get a decent ceiling fan for summer (i.e 52” for an area 5x5) but I saw mix reviews of Martec. Like product reviews are really low but other retail websites are high. Can someone use these before provide some feedback? Thanks.

  • Anyone have an absolute ballpark figure for a sparky to install 4 of these?

Also, I assume 4 blades move more air than 3?

    • +1

I paid $170 per fan, when I got 6 installed. Going rate seems to be between $150-$200 per fan.

  • Wow their website is running really slow for me this morning

  • Moving early next year and looking to upgrade one of the lights in the main room to light/fan. Wonder if its worth buying this now or just waiting until after I move.

  • Is it Grid Connect Wifi or something different

    • Grid connect is the arlec ones

These are tuya based (at least mine is)

      • @Jimothy Wongingtons - I’m thinking to buy 2 of these fans. LED lights are replaceable?

        • +1

No as far as I know

Actually looks like there is a listing for an led plate for martec, whether or not it suits or will be available in 3-5 years is another thing though. Looking at the retail cost prob cheaper to get a new fan as I strongly doubt it would be a diy job (could be wrong, as it is dc… )

Best to check with the seller of the product

          • @Jimothy Wongingtons: Just had a chat with the supplier. It seems the light panel needs replacement. Also it can only be ordered through the supplier.

Bunnings fans integrated with LED light that can be easily replaced similar to other bulbs I believe. Correct me if I’m wrong.

            • @Di20: Is it? I would have expected them to be same deal with the led board arrangement. The traditional style of fan light uses es or bc globes , which are easy diy, but yeah… pretty ugly as the light is uneven, and the fitting becomes bulky

      • grid connect is tuya as well

        • Oh true, I was always under the assumption it needed a grid hub , not just straight wifi to router

          • +1

@Jimothy Wongingtons: Nope you can add grid connect devices to tuya directly as well

            • @asa79: Nice I’ll add them back on the list, their smart power board looked decently priced for something that definitely has Australian approvals

  • has anyone got their order, seems like a scam website to me.

    • +1

Apparently inundated with hundreds of orders - shipping will be delayed by about a week. Customer service seem helpful and legit.

Mine is out for delivery today. Just noticed that that all their emails went to spam too.
