      • +1

        no invoice in my email

        • I didn't get one either. Didn't get any emails from DS, just one from paypal. Package came today though…

  • This is stupid but I got mine today but my mum doesn't want to replace the old one because the box for the new one doesn't say explicitly say it meets Australian standards. Can't find it in the documentation anywhere. Anyone can find it? I'm not bothered myself but I just gotta prove it to her..

    • +1

Dick smith could not legally sell it if it doesn't comply.

    • +1

While you look for the documentation, Also consider buying a whip.

  • What the hell. The document which came with it seems to state it only has a 5 year connected equipment warranty. Did I get screwed or is everyones like that?

edit: Just checked the other ones I bought. The internal documents all state it only has a 5 year connected equipment warranty. So yeah … WTF

    • Yes, I just checked the provided documents and as ninjapanda says, it is a 5 year connected equipment warranty, not lifetime

    • What is up with this? Website states lifetime.. Lifetime guarantee with $100,000 Connected Equipment Warranty.

    • -2

hahaha you really believed a $20 protector offered more?

"Lifetime guarantee with $100,000 Connected Equipment Warranty"

      Guarantees are NOT Warranties

      2 separate things here:
1 - Lifetime guarantee that the product will be free from manufacturer defects etc… IE they will replace your $20 product with another $20 product. It will probably cost you more to send it in.

      2 - Then 100k CE Warranty
Does not specify duration on website and is not false. Everyone here just assumed it was Forever due to the Lifetime guarantee. Chances are you probably are also not covered for what you think you may be covered for.

      Buyer beware. Neg for misleading.

  • just got mine

  • Yeah, received mine too. My life is now complete.

  • I cannot connect the given coaxial cable to my TV.
Does anyone have the same problem?

  • Got one. Thanks OP :o)

  • This deal over? It's showing the same price for me ($19.99) but is adding on the $9.95 for postage?

    • Click and collect for $19.95!

    • Delivery cost removed on payment page.

  • Bought another! Cheers!

Also just noticed if you search on the DS site for the surge board, this comes up:

      http://dicksmith.com.au/product/M7812/8-way-network-ready-su…
      Which is $39, save $30.

      And then:
      http://dicksmith.com.au/product/M78101/surge-interceptor-8-w…
This is the one for $19, however it looks different….

So is the $19 one the older model? Looks like the new model has RJ45 support…

      • No! The $39 one is the special in the current catalog, this one is the 'online exclusive' deal for SAME product. As posted previously, this deal is for the new model! Has RJ45 support - just checked unit.

Quite normal for DS to have 2 prices (eg recent deal - Norton IS $85 in store but $30 'online exclusive'). Different deals, so different DS codes & different web pages.

        • The unit I received yesterday doesn't have rj45 support? Has 3 rj11 ports (1 in, 2 out)….

I don't think it is the same product…

        • Does the powerboard have the 'Surge Interceptor' & black DS on yellow logos on it like in the $39 web page? It is the same model I saw in the stores for $39. That was the one I & others reported receiving. Thats the latest model.

Phone ports on it accept 2 sizes of plugs in the one socket. I just grabbed the next size up from a RJ11 & tested both. (Tested wrong cable - RJ25. Sorry!) (RJ11, RJ14, and RJ25 can be plugged into the same six-pin 6P6C jack on this powerboard - only 2 connectors in use.) Seems the new model Powerboad does not support RJ45.

        • +1

Yes, it has the logos, however it has 3 ports, unlike the image in the $39 one, which only has 2?

Seems the specs must be wrong on the DS site as it claims to support RJ45, but obviously doesn't!

        • You are right about the number of phone outlets. Well, having a built in double adapter is a bonus. The ones in the stores seemed the same as the one we received, but I may be wrong. $39 model specs list Network Cable fitted with 2 x RJ45 Plugs rather than RJ45 sockets on powerboard, but seems to be RJ45 in photo supplied below. The angling of the received powerboard top matches the $39 photo, not the one for this deal. Not the first time DS product photos did not match the product sold. Seems the -1 after the old model number of these Powerboards indicates the new model, rather than the old one in the photo for this deal.

        • I think I got that wrong - the two Powerboards ARE different models, as the illustrations on DS site don't match what we received, and I grabbed the wrong RJ plug to check what you asked. Until you pointed to the difference in number of phone sockets, I had not noticed the difference. The $39m one is listed as a Network Powerboard & apparently has RJ45.

      • The photo in the $39 catalog promo is the unit DELIVERED in this deal - at least by those previously posting & myself.
The photo for this $19.99 deal shows the old model, not the one delivered - which has the same logo as the one in the $39 deal. Confused?

        • Correction, the photo in the $39 catalog promo is NOT quite the unit DELIVERED in this deal.

  • dunno why, but I bought one :(

  • Went in today to buy one, they said it was online price only. So I ordered online with collect at the store. 10mins later, they called me up to pay for it. Don't know why they just couldn't just do a price reduction… waste 10mins of my life.

    • waste 10mins of my life

How previous to waste more of your life complaining!
If you had read the DS deal, it stared this is an 'online exclusive'. Online promotions operate separately to store promotions. I posted about the difference in price between ordering online or buying instore ($39 catalog special). Could have asked to order instore - I have. Better to read the deal title & conditions, than 'waste' everyones lives ;)

      • And I didn't check my spell checker - precious, not previous. Wasted more of my life :(

  • For those wanting to save $10 & don't need TV & phone line filtering, power switch, but want a slim board with 6 outlets (no plug pack wide spacing) from a major electrical fitting manufacturer…
    http://dicksmith.com.au/product/M6605/6-outlet-surge-powerbo…
HPM 6-Outlet White powerboard provides overload protection, basic level 450 Joule surge filtering, and RFI noise filtering. Rated at 10A, this powerboard features slimline plug and keyhole mounting slots for easier installation.
$9.99 - limited stock, not online but click & collect - available at my local DS.

Also with phone line protection for $14.98 http://dicksmith.com.au/product/M7172/hpm-6-way-surge-powerb…

  • Note: the photo for this deal shows the old model. That is not the model I and others report receiving, which is shown in http://dicksmith.com.au/product/M7812/8-way-network-ready-su…

    • I received an M78101, as advertised. Maybe some of you got lucky and received an unintentional upgrade?

      • Ah, but does your model match the photo at the top of this deal? (Mine doesn't.)
M78101 is the product number on the new model others report receiving, with logos 'Surge Interceptor' & black 'DS' on yellow on it. That is the same as the $39 one in stores.
The product number M7812 used in the $39 promo must be the old model, but the photo shows the new M78101 model we received.

        • The unit I received looks like this. Definitely not the same M7812 unit that you linked above (large picture here), which is a different model (branded as Surge Net and has RJ45 in/out x 1 each).

        • Thanks. I received the same one. Still it does not match the one shown for this deal, which seems to be the old model (M7810?)!
And as Rnewton4 posted, it does not even match the photo for the $39 deal. The one in your larger photo is labelled "Surge Net", not "Surge Interceptor" we received & has 1 phone in & only 1 phone out instead of 2 out on ours.

(Not so sure of same product in store now as I only had a quick look & the only difference is the name & number of phone sockets. But to make matters more confused, the Model number on the printed catalog M78121 is different to the online number! The '-1' has been added, like on the model we received.)

No complaints from me as am happy with the unit. Just confusing illustrations on the website.

        • +1

Just picked up my second one from the store (click and collect). Turns out they are different, the $39 one in store is the surge net one…

        • That clears that up. Thanks. I took a quick look instore & I thought they were same. The $39 one is oriented to networks.

  • Missed out again! S***! someone sell me one lol.

  • Nah i really need the 8way board, as im using 2 crappy 4 way boards atm, connected to almost 2k worth of pc. They are pretty dodgy. Will have to keep my eyes peeled as it seems to be a common bargain.

    Thanks though.
