Nothing wrong with that AC has one of the most friendly award charts to Asia and the US.

      • Yeah. It depends what you’re redeeming them on

      • I cannot find much flight from Australia to Asia using air Canada online redeem portal. Any trick?

        • Within T-14 days you usually find plenty of options
          SYD-BKK on TG
          BNE-TPE on BR
          SYD-HND on NH

      • I understand Aeroplan points expire in 18 months if there is no activity on your account.
What options do aussies have for extending the expiry?

          sending some to me

        • Gee, really 18 months? Does topping up points (by purchasing during their bonus campaigns) extend it?

          • +2

            @Craze: From their website:
"To stay active, just earn or redeem at least 1 Aeroplan point within an 18-month period. Here are some ideas:

Fly with Air Canada and include your Aeroplan number on your booking.

            ■ Book with our airline partners, including the entire Star Alliance network.

            ■ Book a hotel room or a car rental

            ■ Shop online through the Aeroplan eStore, or in store at one of our retail partners."

Good find OP, my anniversary date is early Nov so will transfer by end Oct before cancelling the card 😊

  • Does anyone know if I can send points to my wife's krisflyer account or do the names have to match?

    • Nope

    • Did you work out if we can send it to another person? TnC is not that clear but it does not say it has to go to same person in rewards alliance. And also, need to be used in 3 years. Thanks

For KrisFlyer members, all Base KrisFlyer miles or Bonus KrisFlyer miles awarded in accordance with this Campaign will be valid for three (3) years from the date on which they are credited into the recipient’s KrisFlyer account and no extensions of validity will be permitted. For the avoidance of doubt, the Base KrisFlyer miles or Bonus Krisflyer miles awarded which have not been used by the end of such validity period will expire and shall be deemed null and void.

      • No. I haven't tried. Points still sitting in the Star Alliance account.

  • When is citi going to get a bonus ffs

  • If my current status airline in star alliance portal is air Canada, if I change to Kris flyer , will I lose my current Aeroplan 50k gold status?

    • I'm not sure if you would lose it, but you don't have to change status airline to convert your star alliance points to krisflyer points. See from the star alliance website when you log in:

In any qualification year, you may only claim status through a single Status Airline. If you change your Status Airline after you have claimed Star Alliance Silver or Star Alliance Gold Status, the change will only be effective for any status you may receive in the following qualification year.

Provided you are a member of the program, you have the flexibility to convert your Star Alliance Points whenever you want into any of the participating member airlines, regardless of which one you selected as your Status Airline.

Thanks I was mainly worried about the HSBC offer where we get 2 years of star alliance gold when we selected Aeroplan as our airline. But sounds like if I do it, I will lose my second year.

        • If you achieved the spending qualification this year you'll be gold with your new status airline after your anniversary.

I've changed from Aeroplan to Krisflyer. I'll be gold with Krisflyer after my anniversary in Nov.

          • @Sharp: would you still have your gold with Aeroplan after switch to Krisflyer or it will be gone straight away?

            • @hishaken: I'm still gold with Aeroplan until my anniversary in November. I don't know how the transition is going to be or if there will be a gap between golds until I receive an email from Krisflyer.

              • @Sharp: In transition period, your rewards alliance will be still gold yea? And how long does it take to have your KrisFlyer to be gold after switching? Thanks

Can i take advantage of this deal if i have 700000 citi points

    • What on earth does this have to do with Citi?

  • If I put my points in my AirCanada account, and then cancel my HSBC card, do I lose the AirCanada points? I know i'll lose status.

My card's up for renewal and looking to cancel.

    • once its in your AC account, Star Alliance can't take it back and you have earned via spending… I am planning to call and see if they can waive the yearly fees

      • Cheers. I won't hit the 60k spend without having to do some sort of gargantuan purchase that would attract mega fees, so there's no point in me trying just with Silver.

      • Let me know how you go with the fee waiver!! In the exact same boat!!

        • how is fee waiver goes>?
