I'd be wanting a 4080 at this price.

The Legion 7 isn't about max performance, it's about being thinner and more portable compared to most of those more powerful beasts, and that's worth something too.

If you just want max GPU and who cares about the rest of the laptop, then MSI's GP series with 1080p screens exist :)

I bought the asus zephyurus g15 and help a friend this laptop… cause of jarrodstech..

      • If only OzBargainers understood this! Around here, it’s all about max specs for the lowest price; the laptop chassis, weight, and size don’t matter.

I understand the build quality of Legions are far higher than most on the market (as an owner of one myself).
I just feel it's a bit expensive considering 3070 Legions were under $2.5k (sometimes as low as $2k, depending on configuration) while 4070 legions are almost $2.9k.
Even worse considering 4070 is third tier in it's generation while 3070 is second tier.
I guess it's Nvidia price gouging more than the OEMs responsible for the price differences.

    Mid specs for the price

    • is there anything compatible for the price? hp omen is not great build…

  • MSI has some for roughly the same price with 32GB RAM and 2TB ssd e.g.

    [MSI Vector] (https://www.centrecom.com.au/msi-vector-16-hx-a14vgg-16-qhd-…)

    • Comparing an SUV to a Sedan. It's too big and bulky.

AMD Ryzen 7 with 4070 instead

  • Waiting for comments on 14900HX

  • If you're getting the 4070 may as well go for the Legion 7i Slim, you get a lot more fruit and same performance for much the same price.

The Legion 7i Slim is now discontinued. This Legion 7i (non-Pro) is the successor, offering improved thermals.

  • The HP one yesterday is much better offer with bigger screen, more RAM and storage etc. but lower CPU (13th gen i7). as well as cheaper overall.

Let down by the 16GB RAM and SSD - really would have expected 32GB RAM / 1TB SSD at this price point. Better value elsewhere in my opinion..

      There's a pre-configured build for $100 more ($2980.85) that gets you both: https://www.lenovo.com/au/en/p/laptops/legion-laptops/legion-7-series/legion-7i-gen-9-(16-inch-intel)/83fdcto1wwau3

      • Yeah agree - that $100 is worth it and better value

  • Posted the bumped config here: https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/867789
