Gift Cards: JB Hi-Fi 4% off / Amazon 3.5% off / eBay 3% off / IKEA, MYER 6% off / Amart 10% off & More @ Macquarie Marketplace

2230

Most retailers on Macquarie Marketplace have just increased their rates by 1% or more!

Every Retailer % Screenshot Here

I only purchased an Amazon card the other day at 3%. I believe these new rates will be long-running.
Prior rates can be seen in the Wiki here (30/8/2024)

  • Amazon - 3.5% (It shows 4% incorrectly… read edit) (was 3%) - Similar % to these deals with more flexibility! (You choose the amount (some stores don't let you), discount is always available and stacks with Cashback, unlike Amazon credits)
  • eBay - 3% (was 2%)
  • Amart Furniture / City Beach / Xbox / OPSM - 10% (was 7%)
  • JB Hi-Fi / Harvey Norman / TGG - 4% (was 3%)
  • Big W - 4.5% (was 3%)
  • Kmart / Target - 4.5% (was 3.5%) (Kmart In-store Only)
  • David Jones - 5%
  • Myer - 6% (was 5%)
  • IKEA - 6% (was 5.5%)
  • Apple - 6% (was 5%) (Temporarily removed due to fraud… read edit)
  • EB Games 7% (was 6%) (Can Buy PlayStation Gift cards)
  • BCF / SuperCheap Auto - 7% (was 5%)
  • Sephora - 8% (was 5%)
  • DoorDash - 5% (was 4%)
& More: Full % List (credit to @aeon)

Edits:
1) Amazon seems to show 4% logged out, vs 3.5% logged in. All other retailers i've checked don't have this bug. Thanks everyone for pointing this out.
2) 14th Nov: Apple is no longer listed (was 6%) - Credit to @Pnun & @shootandswing (I asked Macquarie about the removal and they told me it is temporary due to a lot of fraud. They’re not sure when it will be back but they have assured me that it’s temporary)
& David Jones is now added at 5%, sometime during November.

The cards always come through instantly without issues for me. Should be helpful for the OnePass sales this weekend, & for Amazon Prime Big Deal Days etc, etc!

Bcf is also 7% now. Could stack it with the recent jacket deal.

  • You have to use a credit/debit card from Macquarie Bank?

    • +8

Purchase from your linked transaction account.

Just checked and it’s 3.5% on Amazon, not 4% for me?

    • screenshot seems to be app

      • Yeah, there appears to be a discrepancy between logged in / vs logged out, only for Amazon. It's still increased though.

The screenshot is from iMac not the app. Ebay, Kmart, Myer etc don't have the issue, only Amazon seems to have this bug… Thanks for letting me know

        • Update the title so that Amazon is 3.5%

          • +1

@rickb: I was in the process as you commented, just my title was at the word limit already & hard to edit correctly to maintain the way the mods formatting. I still need to fix the title formatting.

      • I only use the app

  • The main website desktop has Amazon at 3.5%, 4% must be just on the App

    • nope, App is 3.5% for me

  • +1

3.5 for me too on the app for Amazon GC!

  • How is Macquarie as a bank?

    • +14

Good interest on transaction account, no hoops

    • +7

Pretty solid - not the best rates on market, but solid digital, interest on transaction accounts too and no ATM fees anywhere domestically (all rebated). Debit cards don't have eftpos so no beem.

      • cards don't have eftpos so no beem.

is that why no beemit with Virgin money debit too ?

    • +3

Very good. Not international fee on cc or debit. App easy to use. Call centre quick to get hold of someone.
Only downside is the debit card doesn't have eftpos. Have to use a other bank to do fee free aldi shopping

    • +1

      Thanks guys!
I am with UBank, not sure if worth the hassle of moving stuff around at the moment
I just get bored with banks hahaha

      • +1

No eftpos on the debit card incase that matters to you

      • 'I just get bored with banks hahaha' .

That's probably a good thing as you are spending more time using money and not finding options to save them.
Personally have both accts. Only real difference for me is interest rates and min deposit requirement.
I also used both cards overseas too in NZ recently without any issues ( was able to provide travel notification in app from NZ) no blocks and conversion rates were almost same too.

      • I opened up an account on Macquarie only because of the gift cards and the interest on the transactions account was a bonus.

customer service is useless. They keep trying to push you to live chat which is only open in business hours. trying to order a card to replace the one that never turned up after being on hold for 45 minutes to the call centre they told me to Google a form. They couldn't send it to me no I had to Google it. Then I filled out the form and emailed it and then 3 days later I get a message that I have to talk to live chat not telephone. Then live chat told me I had to call, there was a reason but they couldn't tell me what it was for "privacy reasons". So I call and they told me they couldn't help me either and that I had to use live chat.

So I've given up on my cards but I'll take their interest and cheap Amazon cards.

had another issue when I change phones and trying to use my app but of course the authenticator app is no longer synced and it took me 10 days to actually get hold of somebody who could actually help me because again I kept going around in circles.

      just useless for me.

      • Don’t have access to your old device?
For your security, we register all your devices that have installed the Macquarie Authenticator app. If you no longer have your old device i.e. lost your phone, you’ll need to call us on 133 174 (+61 2 8245 4470), 24/7. We’ll de-register your old device so you can set up Macquarie Authenticator on your new device.
        https://www.macquarie.com.au/help/personal/accessing-online-…

Some banks let you remove old devices yourself, however I can see how this could be less secure. With Macquarie, I've struck the authenticator problem myself after performing a factory reset on my existing phone, however I've always found the Macquarie Bank call centre staff, based somewhere offshore I think, very helpful.

        • my old device shar irself, the call centre couldn't grasp the concept that I had my old device but it wasn't powering on and kept telling me I had to turn it on & deactivate the authenticator app. Then when I said lets pretend I lost my device, then they got confused and told.me.in that case i had to call back in business hours. I did so several times,. getting strung along and telling me they couldn't help &. I had to email a form (again I was told to google the form!)

anyway long story…i finally got a survey email.i bagged them out & fot offer a call..it was only then that someone was able to help.

Even the ATO/MyGov/etc allowed me to DIY the re-install of their authenticator app.

I was hoping to use my McBank debit card to replace my 28°card…but again I can't get them to send me one out (to replace the one I never received apparently laat year). you'd think a non-activated card could be easily replaced. You'd think these days you shouldn't even have to get a physical card.

the Macquarie Bank call centre staff, based somewhere offshore

yes they're in the Philippines.. a they're polite enough, but not helpful unless you stick to their prescribed run sheet.

    • +1

      They are cashless.

      • ?

      • Just get commbank or westpac card and transfer money to ur mac debit card

    • Good until they close your account on you, and cannot tell you why.

      Useless.

  • 5% off on DoorDash gift cards. Nice!

  • Amazon showing 3.5% only.
Rates showing after I login seem to be different to what is shown in the website link.

  • Anyone knows whether this is the best deal for Apple gift card at the moment? 6%?

  • +2

This is a pleasant surprise, I always thought macquarie wanted a slice of the action so their giftcards weren't quite as good, now they are looking better

  • This deal is just available for those who bank with them right?

    • +3

you need a free transaction account. I have never used the card, just the transaction account for interest

  • Cheapest way to get access?

    • +10

Open a free transaction account in about 5 minutes online.

      • Do you have to fund it?

        • You have to fund it only to buy from this marketplace. no minimum $, no fees, no nothing. Just transfer in/out whenever.

          • -1

@xrailgun: So you need to use money within your transaction account to make these purchases?

If so kills the deal for me as I do better w/ credit card points…

            • @Valjew: which card gives you 3-4% worth of points?

            • @Valjew: I use my Macquarie Credit Card to buy the gift cards to get points to get free gift cards.

    • +1

      LMGTFY

  • I just checked and it's showing 6% off for Apple gift cards.

  • good…ebay is back…a few days ago ebay option disappeared

    • +1

from what I have used, a few other options:

      1. woolworths has "your pick" gc via everyday rewards app, 3% off till 6/10
add normal credit card to buy, also "your pick" gc can partially convert to any amount >$5

      2. shopback Tech Swap 2.5% off
support all prepaid cards to buy, also swap card can store in Prezzee and split to small amount when need.

for MQ's, only can buy from saving account, ebay card has to use in full.

  • Stupid question. I need to buy some PSN gift cards, there is no Playstation giftcard on Macquarie. If I buy a JB hifi gift card, can I use them to buy PSN gift cards?

    • +2

I'm not actually certain to be honest, but you should instead try EB Games at 7% (almost twice the discount)
You can buy them digitally, & gift cards are accepted online (but not certain again if it works on digital gift cards)

      • +1

OMG, even better. I'll ring EB to confirm I can buy PSN gift cards with gift cards. Thank you so much.

        • +1

          You're welcome :)
& please let me know, because i'm curious as well!

          • +1

@OutOfTime: I just rang EB Games, and he said yes, I can buy PSN gift cards paying with EB game gift cards. It was worth checking coz wollies do not let you buy other gift cards when paying with wollies gift cards. At least, I haven't been able to do so the zillion times I've tried.

I guess it is time to stack up for the PS5 Pro too 😅😅.

            • @Potatohead82: Thanks! I super appreciate your help confirming, because Amazon also doesn't let you buy gift cards with existing cards.

            • +1

@Potatohead82: EB let you use gift cards to buy anything other than EB gift cards. I have bought plenty of PSN and Steam credit this way.

  • +1

Sephora was at 5% and now it's 8%. Nice!

    • I'll add that to the list - Thanks!

  • +1

Some really good regular discounts there. Thanks for letting us know, I never check the rates so probably wouldn't have noticed it for months.

  • +6

It's worth noting that you can select the actual amount you need so you don't end up with half used gift cards.

do the rates change often ?

      • No, they don't - It's not like cashback companies changing rates the time

  • Where is the marketplace in the app? I can't seem to find it :/ I can see it in the browser though

    • +5

Go into an account, then choose the "I want to…" drop down in blue.

  • +1

    Some great discounts , no fee’s as well. Haven’t seen Amazon 3.5% , Kmart 4.5%, apple 6% , Cole’s 3.5% anywhere before without fee’s

    • Coles 4% and Kmart 5% have been around for a while at Reward Gateway

      • Isn’t that only available to certain employers ?

  • +1

Some good deals - though may be worthwhile checking out other vendors you may have access to too:

    https://www.ozbargain.com.au/wiki/discounted_egift_cards

  • Great rates, hopefully this means other marketplaces will rise soon (those that usually have higher savings than Macquarie).

  • Do you think you can get cashrewards/shopback on top of these? I don't believe you can, but curious if it's worked for anyone.

    • +1

eBay and Amazon are eligible, as long as the Cashback site states gift cards are eligible.

      • +1

        Muchos gracias senor.

  • +1

Meanwhile Woolies went down recently from 4% to 3.5%.

  • +4

6% off Apple seems a good deal for someone like me who have subscriptions

    • Update - MQ let me made 1 transaction marketplace and locked my account. I was required to provide ID information a month ago and despite 2 follow ups from me, there was zero update. I was told they are still “reviewing my account”.
Surely a one month lead time for checking a new account is disappointing. I’m thinking if there’s anyway to make a complaint as this process is just ridiculous.

  • These are good deals and quick to get as well, however keep in mind to vary your transactions, seems they may close your account otherwise likely due to AML concerns

  • +3

I was about to get the apple one, seems like its no longer available.

    • Thanks for letting me know, i'll update the post. It was very handy having Apple :(

    • Yea disappointed to discover Apple was removed. Kinda sad given this was why I originally signed up

    • +2

I asked Macquarie about the removal and they told me it is temporary due to a lot of fraud. They’re not sure when it will be back but they have assured me that it’s temporary.
