Yeah nah. I’m bathing in GMHBA freeloading goodness for the next 2 months.

In years of churning and careful analysis, my view is that NIB offers are never worth it, as they require holding the policy for too long before gaining the promotional benefit.

One of the best deals to look out for is the 'pay one month, get 6 weeks free' arrangement. NIB never offers this.

    Would not recommend this 'deal'.

    • The only thing I would add to the above, is that many seem churn to NIB for Qantas Frequent Flyer (QFF) points—great if you perceive that as good value. I do not.

      • qantas health is issued by nib but you don't get qantas points by churning to nib themselves

    • does this analysis also apply to extras only policy? i find their 100% back on dental a good value.

      • Nothing is truly 100% - what are the rules around it? Many funds seem to cover two annual dental check-ups, if that's what you're referring to

A couple of things to note:

        • My aim is to save money on PHI - by far, the best way to do that is to churn.
        • The promos almost always require joining with Hospital and Extras cover, so I never look at the Extras only.

To keep the time cost of churn low, where possible, I always churn to Gold Hospital and Top Extras (except where the fund doesn't offer Gold, which has started to happen with some of the funds).

      • you can have hospital and extras with different companies. you can even have extra with multiple companies (but you can't double dip claims). you can't have multiple hospital policies
