I was trying Sennheiser HD201 in Dick Smith and found the Sony DJ Headphones are better, tested by my not-professional ears. I think the MDR-ZX300 has better value, comparing the price and sound quality, but it all depends on what you are looking for.

BTW, Officeworks also has MDR-V55 for $150, but not have MDR-ZX300.
I agree MDR-V55 is better, but not sure it worth double of MDR-ZX300.
And MDR-ZX300 is smaller and portable, and more stylish.

I have to agree with OP, I did actually listened to both the Sony MDR-V55 and the Sennheiser equivalent at JB a while back and I must say the Sony sounded better and was a bit more confortable. Value for money the MDR-V55 was better as well.
I just bought the MDR-V55 yesterday, great sound, good high and low. Unfortunately when it was fitted to my head for some time, feels uncomfortable on the top part of my head. It could be my head, not sure. If someone wants it for $60 pickup around 2220 area, please let me know. With official receipt dated 5th December 2012.
Double the price, no doubt its going to be better ;)
