      It won't break the bank. But it's a well known tactic to build in a bit of extra margin into shipping.

      Lure the potential buyer in with a bargain price… Make them do some work… Then give them the full price at the last step.

      Edit - it definitely puts my off a purchase, when I see shipping that I think (rightly or wrongly) is excessive.

            Got the shoes, there's some very light markings on the toe. But no massive obvious issues.

            Highly recommend at this price.
