Hey all,

Hope all has been well! It’s been a while since my last post but we’ve been working hard behind the scenes on a new membership program called ShopBack Plus! We know how much you love Gift Cards, so monthly Gift Card credits are a big perk of this program!

For a cost of $4.99 per month, ShopBack Plus members get:

  • $5 off any Gift Card (that’s the membership paid for, plus a little profit on top)
  • Higher Cashback rates at top brands
  • Up to 10x Cashback on Plus Day each month (keep your eyes peeled for 1st October)
  • Entry into a monthly Cashback giveaway

How to Sign Up

  • Click on the “Go to Deal” link
  • Link a debit/credit card
  • Sign up as usual

GYB's Notes:

  • By signing up to ShopBack Plus, your membership will be valid until 11:59pm AEST/AEDT the following month on the same day (for example: if you sign up on 19 Sep at 5pm AEST, your membership will be valid until 19 Oct 11.59pm AEDT).
    • Your membership will be renewed automatically every month unless you cancel it at least 24 hours prior to your renewal date.
  • Memberships are non-refundable. If you were to cancel your membership, it will be valid until the end of your billing period as above.
  • You can sign up for ShopBack Plus on any device - desktop, mobile web or the ShopBack app.
  • To utilise the Gift Card offer you will need to use the ShopBack app. Keep your eyes peeled as you’ll soon be able to purchase gift cards on desktop/mobile web soon!
  • Your Cashback balance can be used to pay for your membership (turn the toggle off if you don’t want to use it on the first payment). Renewals however will by default deduct from your Cashback balance first, and any remaining outstanding amount from your default linked Mastercard/Visa card.
    • To avoid using Cashback towards membership renewals, you’ll need to cancel your membership at least 24 hours before your renewal date and manually join again once your membership expires.
  • Apple Pay is not available for ShopBack Plus membership payments and renewals. You'll need to pay using your Cashback and/or a linked Mastercard/Visa card.

            @gotyourback: Hey @gotyourback We are trying to get your attention about the $28 advertised Cashback for Amaysim that got changed to $3.
            There are a bunch of us who signed up before the rate was changed who had their Cashback downgraded and can’t cancel, can you please assist with either getting the rate fixed for those who signed up before the advertised rate was changed or arrange with Amaysim a way for us to cancel our services? Tx I’ve heard you are the best person to deal with whenever these issues arise!

    So I guess the business model here is gambling that people will forget, or be too lazy, to redeem their "free" $5 gift card each month?

    And on top of this, to make this viable for SB the additional percentages of cashback for Plus members must be worth less than $5 p/m on average?

    Honestly I see this as more of an incentive to drive cashback brand loyalty. When looking for cashback I check a few different sources. I guess Shopback is looking for user "lock-in" with this to combat this behaviour?

    I'm willing to try it out, because I throw way more than $5 at Amazon each month. If I find that remembering to redeem gift cards becomes too tedious, or I don't get reasonable value out of it, I haven't lost much if I cancel.

    So the whole thing is to force people to buy gift cards as no one is going to pay $5 a month to get higher cashback when half of it doesn't track.

    I would pay $5 a month if you upgrade your software so I don't have to spend time chasing up cash back that hasn't been tracked correctly.

    Don't bother with ShopBack, ESPECIALLY signing up to a subscription as crazy as this. Have had negative experiences with them not paying out cashback, GC cashback usually tracks and approve just fine, but.. you're paying for a membership? This deal is a no deal. Do not even bother! Stay away.

    Can anyone with ShopBack Plus check Event Cinemas deal today for $9.99 adult tickets and let me know when the expiry is for those tickets? i.e. when do they have to be used by?

    Keen to buy for Gladiator II which should be in cinemas soon, but sometimes this Event Cinema ones have short use by dates

    Wasn’t this an OzB April Fools joke last year? Pretty certain someone posted the idea of either OzB+ or SB+ subscription last year and now here we are lol
    I swear we are living in the matrix, so now you need to have a Westpac card and subscribe to SB+ to get a Cashback rate they are still making a margin from?
    It’s like flybys, wouldn’t the world be a better place if companies just gave the best prices in the first place instead of marking everything up so they can offer all these discounts/rewards/Cashbacks with every one of these programs requiring a commission be paid to someone. For that matter remember when OzB actually used to be people sharing really good deals instead of being 95% marketing with mostly crappy stuff nobody is interested in and not really bargains?
    I guess I’m now at that age where I’m hankering for the “Good Old Days!” lol

    disappointing first experience with SB+

    we’ve been working hard behind the scenes on a new membership program called ShopBack Plus!

    didn't work hard enough it seems. very slow to track GC purchase.
    too much pending, not enough tracked.

      don't worry much, first time ever happened to everyone :)
      think they were not well-prepared - didn't expect 2k+ people enrolled, didn't realize the card issued earlier was not super swap then probably not enough stock / delay to re-stock

    Check out the Amazon rates today where they are half a percent lower than regular for non members and the same as the regular rate as a benefit for plus members. Pretty gross.

    The was no $5 cashback after any GC purchased being a Plus member. No reply from customer service after more than 5 days. Definitely a scam!!

      Hey @smartyhaha, The $5 off monthly gift card is a credit that's automatically applied to your account. You don't need to enter a promo code.

      When you're buying a gift card, just look for the "Apply promo" button at checkout. The discount should be applied automatically.

    I just tried to click on the "Claim Now" to buy a $5 gift card and it shows a message saying "This Promo has already been claimed" while I clearly have not used it for December month.

    I find this subscription is a waste of time and the cost to fix it (trying to speak with someone from shopback) outweight the benefit.

      and payment was deducted on 1st

      haven't purchased gift card since 5th November

                @mantra: I found the cause: the voucher had not been set the expiry correctly somehow. The picture above shows the year 2040.

      So if someone joins Plus for one month, they should encounter one Plus Day in that membership month. Is that how this is supposed to work?

            @davedave: The gist to be not behind is to redeem $5 off ASAP. The $5 promo credits seems to be available 24 hrs after the payment, not immediate. It can be used to buy a giveaway voucher and cashed out after 5 days. By doing so, you get the plus features for free every month.

            I find SB will prioritize your cash balance to pay for monthly fee so that it is better to cash out whole balance right before due date.
