Tanzania AA Espresso Roasted Whole Bean Coffee 1kg $19.22 (RRP $52) + $10-$12 Delivery ($0 with $75+ Order) @ Brightside Coffee

830

Hey guys Matt here from Brightside Coffee in Perth, Western Australia

QUICK IMPORTANT NOTE:

We are roasting and shipping all orders for this deal on the 1st of October.

0kg remaining. We are sold out. Thanks to everyone who placed an order, and I’m sorry for those who missed out. Please keep your eyes peeled for our November / Black Friday offers.

Back again with a bit of a deal just available for Ozbargain, not advertised anywhere else. The product is hidden from our shop pages and only accessible via the link on this deal. If you have any issues accessing the page, or have questions you don't want to post on this thread, I'm available at [email protected].

I made a bit of a whoopsie on the stock management front, and over ordered on Tanzanian coffee for one of our blends, and whilst the coffee has been excellent and we have enjoyed the heck out of it, I am keen to make room for new coffees coming in towards the end of next month. We were considering selling the green coffee back to the market due to the high market prices at the moment, but before we do I thought maybe an Ozbargain deal might be welcome, as we haven't done one for a bit, and we do occasionally get asked when the next one might be.

About the Coffee:

We purchased this coffee from Utopia Coffee Traders in March 2024, and have featured it as a both a single origin and in our Among Friends blend. The things we like about this coffee are it's presence through milk, and it's caramel notes. It reminds us of rock candy, and there is a small note of water melon when freshly ground, this slight fruity note is not perceivable through milk. If you generally enjoy coffees from: Tanzania (duh), Kenya, Burundi or Uganda, we are confident this coffee will be a welcome treat, and the quality is not reflective of the steep discount which we are glad to share with you. If you prefer a delicate and floral coffee, best give this one a miss.

We roast this coffee to a medium profile, maybe slightly leaning towards medium/dark, depending on your definition. I would personally classify this as a medium/dark roast, as it is designed and roasted for milk coffees / espresso blends.

The DEAL:

PRICE: $19.22 per 1KG (RRP $52 ~63% discount). Espresso Roasted Whole Beans, 1kg
Tanzania Finagro Estate AA Washed
Crop Year: 2023
Tasting Notes: Caramel & Rock Candy are our tasting notes on the label. Largely vibes based. Big body, rich notes cut through milk quite nicely, the caramel notes are the most obvious to us, but there is like a sweet sugary taste throughout that reminds us of candy shops (rock candy).
Stock available: 395 x 1kg (as of 19/09)
Packaging: 1kg Bags, with valve and resealable zipper, with Single Origin Info Label.
Shipping Packaging: Australia post satchel with tissue paper, or mailing box if over 3kg order.
Whole Beans only. We don't want to grind these bags, as we are aiming to just pump it out with limited additional work.
No Coupon Required - the product is discounted automatically on the product page.
Roast date: 30th September/1st October
Shipping date:1st October

Deal ends on the 1st of October, or whilst stocks last.

IMPORTANT:

We are roasting and shipping all orders for this deal on the 1st of October. Any orders placed for this Tanzanian offer will not ship before the 1st of October, and will automatically be allocated to ship on the 1st in our shipping software. If you have other items in your order that are not part of this offer - the whole order will be delayed until the 1st of October. Sorry to repeat this but it's pretty important, and I don't want to disappoint anyone.

All of the coffee will be roasted by our team of 3 from Perth Western Australia on our Giesen roasters, so with standard Australia post shipping, you can expect your coffee to arrive any time from the 3rd of October to the 9th of October on average, though there may be some outliers.

FAQ:

Q: Is delayed dispatch available?
Answer: Beyond the roasting and shipping date of the 1st of October, we are leaving that to Lime Blue (and others by now I'm guessing?) as it's a good niche for them, and we are fans of them.

Q: Is this product subject to our guarantee (if you don't like it we will replace it or refund it).
Answer: Yes. This coffee is still in it's prime, and absolutely a specialty grade coffee with a great story to tell, and though we don't have a use for it anymore in our offering, we stand by our roasting 100%.

Q: Is there more information about the coffee?
Answer: Yes, there is more info on the product page.

Q: Is this offer available in conjunction with any other offers?
Answer: No, assuming I've set this up correctly (???), it should not work with any further discounts.

Q: Click and Collect?
Answer: Yes, orders are available for collection from our roastery in Osborne Park, WA Monday - Thursday, 7am - 3pm. We are closed to the public on Fridays.

Q: Can I freeze my coffee?
Answer: Yes freezing is an effective way to slow down ageing of roasted coffee. Keep coffee airtight when freezing. The bag the coffee ships in will suffice, as long as it is not opened.

Thanks again for reading - we hope you find good value in this deal, and we look forward to hearing about your experiences with our coffee. If anyone has any questions I’ll check in a few times a day to answer them, but if it’s urgent or related to order issues or customer support post purchase, please reach out to us via email. [email protected]

Cheers everyone, happy brewing!

Matt

Give these guys a go. Their beans are great, especially the Good Times blend.

    • +2

Thanks so much Oldmate88. Love the name, it's fun to say haha.

    • +1

      soooo, bean name checks out?

  • Rock candy?

    • +1

Largely vibes based. Big body with a nice intensity, rich caramel notes cut through milk quite nicely, the caramel notes are the most obvious to us, but there is like a sweet sugary taste throughout that reminds us of candy shops (rock candy?).

      • Never heard of rock candy. Only thing I could think of is pop rocks. Not sure anyone wants there espresso to pop and crack. Googling rock candy returns Arabic shop sugar sweets. Unfortunately never tried it.

  • Washed Espresso Roasted Whole Bean?.. is there unwashed version on sale?

    • +1

Not this time Tae - I've removed Washed from the title for clarity. We commonly to reference coffees by their processing method (washed, natural, honey etc), particularly African coffees as it can drastically change the taste of coffee, and therefore customer expectations.

      Cheers!
      Matt

      • thanks for clarifications

  • I've started drinking more tea so 1kg of beans is too much, does anyone know any good value beans in smaller quantities, like 250g? Or I could vacuum seal and freeze beans in batches, does that work? Anyone want to Google that for me?

    • +6

Buy 1kg, split into 4 freezer/sandwich bags and freeze 3

    • google up 'sample packs' - you can usually get 250g packs. usually not discounted, but sometimes you can find 5 packs for the price of 4 or something like that. That said, you still get 1kg delivered (actually, brightside have 4 x 250 packs for $48, which is a discount)

do you have any local markets around you - sometimes they have coffee sellers who will do small quantities

  • +3

For the east coast folk, shipping really is a lot faster with Express. WA no longer being Australia and all that. ;)

    • Did I miss the WAxit?

    • Auspost Express generally recommended if you’re outside a metro area interstate from WA (or internationally apparently now 😂) do we have a different currency to use now that we have left the colony? What would it be called haha, probably make em out of iron. Anyway…

  • Great guys to deal with. Would highly recommend!

    • Thanks so much Solrak!

      • Just ordered 4kgs. Should keep me caffeinated for a while!

  • How do these beans go with milk-based coffee?

    • I want to try them but would like to know about this. just don't want to be disappointed with my very first order

    • +3

It literally says in the post.

      • +1

        Sorry, my bad!

        • +2

          Thanks for the Q, Queixo!

They’re certainly best suited for Espresso machines, including milk based drinks which is where this coffee really shines.

Not ideal for filter or drip for anyone wondering, we don’t Omni roast.

  • Where about in Perth, can I pick up?

    • +1 can we pick-up from Osborne Park?

    • Q: Click and Collect?
Answer: Yes, orders are available for collection from our roastery in Osborne Park, WA Monday - Thursday, 7am - 3pm. We are closed to the public on Fridays.

      • Yep collecting is welcomed, and we will be sure to reach out when the order is ready - or when we are on the way to having it prepped for you.

    • Thanks for the q, we are located at
3/9 Pearson Way, Osborne Park, 6017.
Open days are Monday to Thursday 7-3, we are closed to the public Fridays.
The drive way is narrow and the carpark always busy, so we generally just recommend you block someone in at the pick up time.

  • -3

    Roasted daily? or weekly?

    • Roasted on 1Oct

      • -1

        so once a month?

        • +3

No this is once off for this special deal… Please read

            • @kungfuman: Are you ordering 1kg of beans daily? If it's roasted to order, on a day in the future… what difference would it make?

              • @nezumi: I buy a 1kg bag of freshly roasted beans 5 days because I know I am going to be empty. to ensure that on the 6th day I can use it.

            • @kungfuman: This is roasted and shipped on 1 October 2024. Same day roast. It will be as fresh as Airjo. And better in my experience (of course that is subjective).

  • Hopefully some dual boiler sales coming up soon. Need a new machine now to pair these with

    • -1

Don't do it. What other new thing will you need to pair with the new coffee machine?

    • Keen for this one too haha we are going to do a give away in November and wouldn’t mind saving a few bucks on it.

  • Great price, excited to give this a try.

    • Awesome Mooshino - keen as to get your coffee roasted and shipped on the 1st!

  • Perfect timing. Was after something new to try. At this price point, it's worth a go!

    • Awesome thanks for giving us a crack.

  • Just bought 4 bags, thanks op!

  • @Brightside Coffee Co Thanks, I have placed an order for 2 bags. I am in Perth. Do I just turn up any day from Monday to Thursday on or after 01/10, and quote my order when I am at your roastery?

    • +1

Thanks so much for the order.

We will message you via Text when your order is ready for collection, but rest assured it will be on the 1st as we always prep pick up orders with priority, to allow for maximum flexibility.

  • Hope this is better than the usual Aldi beans. +2 bags +1 trustguywithbeard

    • Epic! Keen to hear your thoughts once all is said and drunk 😬😂😂

  • Do you have any light roast coffee beans?

    • Hey @sqheaven

Anything marked filter roast or with the filter roast icon is roasted very light but not for espresso brewing.

The Happy Chap blend & Konga Wete Ethiopia single origin are light roast for espresso, as is the Colombia Pequena Finca.

      Cheers,
      Matt

  • Yesss!! love this deal. Brightside coffee is the best!

  • +1

Great beans! I had to try decaf for a while due to the meds I was on and their decaf is hands down the best I have found. Also enjoy the funny email newsletters! Cheers legends!

I have snuck back onto the full caffeinated stuff now so will give this one a go for sure!

    • +1

Brilliant @Step_hen, probably due for another poorly formatted and confusing email soon I think!

      • The lack of formatting is part of the charm!

    • I also love the marketing emails; any more laid back and they’d be lying down.

  • -2

    say less

    • Sold out

      • Tone may not have come through via my two words, but I meant "you need not say more" for me to buy your coffee - had a batch via a previous subscription and would happily pounce on any specials you guys have! Cheers.

        Edit: also ordered

        • @morecoffee

Sometimes two words is all it takes when a good deal is on the table, but getting the tone across is another story. Stoked to be roasting again for you - and appreciate your kind words regarding your experience with our coffee.

  • This is exciting! Ordered 2 kg and looking forward to continue to support wa local biz long term if they are good beans 😉

    • Nicely done getting an order in @sam60110, stoked as to have the privilege of keeping you caffeinated with this coffee!

  • Looks like only 31 KILOS at remaining as of 5:30pm AEST

  • OOS 🙁

  • +1

    <Insert Toyota bugger gif here>

  • damn OOS

  • OOS :(

  • -1

Revoke my vote, no one knew what roast level is this 😂

  • Oh man! I missed out - I put 4 in my cart, got stuck in a meeting and bam - gone!
Snooze you lose I guess :(

    • +1

Going to extra suck when you see the abandoned cart emails coming through reminding you to purchase, but you can't :(

Sorry you missed out on this one @retnup

  • Hey Matt
I know its a bit late for this order but what beans are best for espresso (dark roast) ? Cheers John

    • G'day John - I think the Among Friends Blend is you like a hint of dried fruits - or the Brazil Cezar Angelo if you like chocolatey rich.

If you're OK to wait for a little bit - we are launching a proper dark roast coffee soon! The best way to find out about the release is to sign up to the Brightside mailing list via the website.

  • Hi OP. Received the beans today. When will they be at their optimum (degassing complete?)

    • I would say definitely by now, as I'm sorry to say I just saw this!

      • Thanks. Is it OK to freeze the beans by taping the one way valve ?

        • If you have a vac sealer, I break the bags down into 250g aliquots, vac seal and then freeze. Still great after a couple of months, though it rarely gets out that far (usually only when I've not properly rotated them or have gone on an extended holiday).
