Tiger.. as the saying goes: Let the Buyer Beware! read the T&C's carefully! and if you don't.. I look forward to seeing you on TV Airways on Sunday night :)

    • You mean that paid commercial? I saw some of it once, and it was just a huge wall of spin that caused me great rage.

I don't think that show actually helps Tigers' reputation, sure they show the most annoying people in the hope that you'll side with Tiger, but most airlines will allow 500g-1kg over baggage without blinking an eye.

To me it's more of a buyer beware, and as Vortex99 said read the T&Cs

        • I think you'll find they get money for allowing it.

Its easy to say that because you seen the TV show,i'm sure 99% of passengers get what they pay for, which is a cheap no frills flight.

  • Don't forget that Jetstar price match flights and give 10% extra off!

Just get Jetstar to beat tiger. Slightly better airline and a 10% discount.

    Comes to $31.46 each way.

    • Ah, credit card surcharges. Fun.

      • In theory this ends on 1/1/2013. The end is in sight.

      • If you pay by Mastercard Debit card .. No fees ..!!!

    • For Jetstar to beat must be direct flights (in this case yes) but also the other airlines flight time must be within 1 hour of jetstar's times.

If anyone is doing any last minute travel between these routes, you can get a return for 59.90 currently. Just booked HBA-MEL for this weekend for that price !

  • I Like Melbourne !

i hate their tv show. it looks like tiger employees are all thugs and crack whores and their customers don't look much better. i wouldn't be surprised if you get shived in the dunnies by the co-pilot. just get jetstar to price match minus 10%.

avoid the tiger "pig shed" (separate from the real airport) in melbourne where "pigs" are corralled and trotted out onto the tarmac to be loaded via ramps into one of their "cargo freighters" (if they're lucky).

that's only half the story though, and depends on the amount of flights and aircraft the airline is handling also. So let's compare the amount of scheduled flights for the amount of actual takeoffs, and while they had less cancellations, if you factor in the amount of flights the others did you can see who rules the roost. I prefer Virgin anyway (no comments please) and they do alright. If the improvement stays and they continue to grow and maintain the improvement then great, i'll consider them at that point. Until then i won't, based on experiences of others.

I think perhaps you don't fully understand percentages?

It makes no difference how many flights each airline is running. Sure Tiger had less flights (so what?). I am not booking 69,730 flights, I am booking 1, and all I care about is if that 1 flight departs on time. If I book Tiger I have a 90% chance it will, if I book Jetstar I have a 77% chance it will (assuming the past years performance is an indication of current performance).

holy crap thanks for the lesson, i had no idea what it meant until just now. There are two ways of looking at every scenario, you only want to look at one so whatever makes you happy. Moving on.

  • Tiger has actually lifted their game substantially since they we're grounded. In fact their on time departures are quite high considering

  • looks like about half price

do they take a further 50% off the chance of actually taking off?

I am a tiger, watch me ROAR. But not like Besart Berisha.

  • I flew on tiger from hobart-melbourne return 2 weeks ago, loved it flight was on time and got upgraded to emergency seat because i asked nicely, people keeps bagging them but they are top for budget airline !

oh and the flight cost less than taxi fare from airport to city, don't complain !

  • Just booked it!

Thanks OP, and especially the person who suggested the Jetstar Price-match. Finally I get to use it.

    MEL-HOB-MEL for under $63.

    Movieman = Happy :-)
