  • I can't find any reviews on the Surge.

    Weird!

    • I believe they are regionally named. Look for the Saucony Triumph 22 reviews.

    Are these in store too?

  • Are these good shoes as someone looking to get into running and eventually train for a marathon?

    • +1

Triumph is best for this and is pretty popular, hence the higher price.

By the time you are ready for a marathon though you'll likely be shopping for something fancier (like the Endorphin Pro series)

Shoes with lots of foam are all the rage for runners these days. Might look a bit strange, but they sure do feel great to run in!

      • I'll take a look at the triump maybe if there's a good deal on them i might pick them up thanks

I have the Guide and also have ASICS GT-2000, Brooks Adrenaline and a NB (can't remember model but similar to the other 3).

I'd say the Guide is the worst of the 4 but also the cheapest when I purchased. It's usable but not at that price. I got mine for like $60 or $70 on another deal

      • I might look into the Guide if I'm strapped for cash thanks

The Guides are a stability shoe, so good if you overpronate to stop you rolling your ankle as easily. Without knowing your feet and stride it's hard to say if it would be suitable, a lot of fit comes down to the specifics of your feet.

I have had these for about a month and they although they are a decent everyday run shoe, they are definitely not as plushy as say Brooks Ghost 18 or Asics Gel Kayano 29 that I've run on before this. Definitely not a speed shoe either even though they are firmer, in my mind probably from the material they've used for the cushioning.

Triumphs are comfier, but a neutral shoe, so not as good for me (have had 6 ankle sprains, want to avoid that happening again)

Honestly if I was just starting out, I would say go to Athlete's Foot and get a proper fitting done so you can make sure you get a shoe that you like the feel of. This is very personal, and if you start out but hate your shoes because they're too narrow, or your heel lifts out, or the shape of the sole feels too weird (looking at you Hoka, don't @ me), you're not going to run much.

If you're feeling really OzBargain-y, get your sizing at Athlete's Foot, buy the pair you like online when on sale.

      • Was looking at going to athlete's foot to get proper shoes but I'm just nervous they're gonna recommend something north of $250, thanks so much I'll do that and wait for whatever shoes they recommend to go on sale

Ride,Guide, Triumph are daily trainers to get your mileage up if really wanted to train for marathon. But don't pay full price.

  • They look super high. Would the surge for example be good for some light exercise (or walking and maybe some skipping rope etc) or are these type of tall shoes specialized for running or something?

  • Reviews don’t sound too good

  • +1

Both Tide 2 & Surge 3 appear to be for the Asian market, manufactured by Xtep (that purchased Saucony China) so difficult to find English reviews. These are similar to Triumph (max cushion daily trainers) but with different foam.

    • Interesting, I've seen Xtep bball shoes (JLin, never knew they also do the Saucony shoes)

      • +2

Many brands are coming back to manufacture their own running shoes due to recent popularity of that sport, i.e. Reebok, Puma or Skecher — those aren't your typical running shoes brands. Xtep basically owns Saucony in China and have their own line of "Saucony" products.

For those who understand Chinese, you can find reviews of Tide 2 / Surge 3 on YouTube

        • Saucony Tide 2 (search 索康尼浪潮)
        • Saucony Surge 3 (search 索康尼澎湃)

From a quick scan, Surge 3 is a cheap version of Triumph 21 but with a different PWRRUN foam. Tide 2 on the other hand is a cheaper version of Endorphin Speed 3 with a nylon plate. Great buy if they perform similar to Saucony's international models.

There are a bunch of other Saucony shoe's also on sale on the website. Worth looking at the full range.

  • Only women shoes on good bargain.

  • Shipping shows $15 for me in Adelaide

  • Thanks! Picked up the Saucony Peregrine 13 GTX for $79.99 (+$15 delivery) - RRP $279.99.

  • …must not buy more running shoes…

  • I have the Endorphin Speed 3 that probably needs replacing soon. Are any of these a good replacement?

I recently got the Adidas Ultraboost but didn't like the ride and ended up going back to the Endorphins.
