Early Termination Fees for JB Hi-Fi Mobile Plan with Telstra

It appears there is some ambiguity around early termination fee for the following deal. and.It appears there is some ambiguity around early termination fee for the following deal.

Here is the critical summary.

JB Hi-Fi applied $1700 voucher, though the Critical Information Summary states the voucher value as $800. It further states that Maximum Voucher Repayment Fee is $800.

What happens when I cancel my plan early?
You’ll need to repay Telstra for any vouchers you received when you purchased your plan. The Voucher Repayment Fee (if applicable) is pro-rated, equal to the total amount of the base voucher divided by 24 and multiplied by months (or part months) remaining in your plan term.

When I signed up for a plan, it clearly showed ETC of $766.59 on JB Hi-Fi on-boarding page. Only time will tell but I don't see how JB Hi-Fi or Telstra can charge more than $800.

Simplystu will get very angry at you for posting this

    • Meh. I couldn't care less.
      Not a Samsung person anyway.

  • You will not pay more than $800, there is no ambiguity in the CIS currently.

  • they will send bikies for ya
its the answer for everyone on this forum

  • What about these terms that are now being included on the website? Seems like they are trying to close the loophole on these vouchers but it does seem like the systems they use to calculate the early termination fees have not caught up.

Voucher value is $800 as per CIS so they can't charge more than this value.

      • Yes but it is also $800 on top. So in short, if they issued $700, the max will be $700. 1000$ then the max is 1000$

Try it and let us know tho haha

        • I have tried it, just cancelled two services with them 3 days ago. Both were 12 months in on a 24 month contract. The voucher repayment bills have come through already. $99PM plan is half of $800 even though I received $1100.

          • @jaejae69: I meant, from yesterday. Seems like they found the loophole now. Anyway, good on you

Where does it say anything about $800 on top? The document you linked and the CIS both have identical voucher repayment terms. The only difference is that the CIS gives a maximum voucher value.
