For those paying in USD this is how you get the correct exchange rate in PayPal:

Setting overseas websites to AUD or letting PayPal do the currency conversion results in an inflated rate. To get the correct rate you need a card without international fees and do the following:

  • Set the website currency to USD
  • Checkout with PayPal
  • Select your card with no international fees
  • Click "See currency options"
  • Select USD to bill the card in USD instead of AUD
  • Proceed with checkout

Now you'll get the correct MasterCard or VISA exchange rate depending on the card.

Hi clear, Can you reply to my comment from your previous deal.

    • +11

The time between that deal and your comment was nearly 12 months… a lot can change in a year! If you read the original deal you'll notice I addressed the ROM situation and provided the means to flash a custom ROM, as well as restoring Widevine L1. Something that's not available easily for the Xiaoxin Pad Pro series.

The other reason being that the global release of the tablet uses the same Snapdragon 680 CPU, so it's possible to use the Lenovo RSA tool to flash the Global ROM onto it. While the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad Pro 2023's global release you can find on Centre Com locally uses the MediaTek Dimensity 7050 instead of the Snapdragon 870 in the Chinese version….. so flashing the Global ROM with the Lenovo RSA is not possible due to the different CPUs.

Hence why the bootloader didn't appear to be unlocked on the Lenovo Xiaoxin Pad. They flashed the legitimate global ROM the legitimate way.

Can anyone comment on personal experience with these models? Looking for something with decent heart rate and sleep tracking

I bought this on the last deal and have had it for about two weeks. I used to use a Samsung watch 4 but got tired of having to charge it so often. Battery on this can easily go 2-3 weeks. It measures heart rate just as well as my watch 4 and i think the sleep tracking is pretty good too (measures deep, light and REM sleep and gives a score of how well you slept). Overall does a great job for the price.

        I have a few questions…

        What software does it use?

Can it sync with Google Fit?

Do the alarms sync with your phone, and can you mute the alarms with it? I tend to hit snooze quite a bit.

          What software does it use?

Mi Fitness. When you set the device up it'll show a QR code to download from a URL that'll require you to sideload. Don't. Instead just find it on your app store and do it that way. No idea why they've done that.

On Android, GadgetBridge is actively developing support for it as of a few days ago but it's still unsupported at this stage.

Can it sync with Google Fit?

Mi Fitness on Android will sync to Google Fit.

Do the alarms sync with your phone,

Not in a useful way. They sync to Mi Fitness but not the "native" alarms. At least on Android.

and can you mute the alarms with it? I tend to hit snooze quite a bit.

Yes. At least the wake alarms, haven't used a regular alarm.

My overall review; great hardware for the price weird software.

          • @salut: Does this sync with Mi Fitness in the background? My mi 7 pro doesn't and is a known issue.

            • @philotex:

Does this sync with Mi Fitness in the background? My mi 7 pro doesn't and is a known issue.

I'm not aware of the issue in question to know if it is/isn't impacted. Every time I open Mi Fitness it does say it's syncing, but that's a pretty common pattern in software to sync-on-demand when you open it so I'm not sure if that is evidence that it hasn't synced in the background.

          • @salut: That's really good info. Thank you!

I just got rid of my Samsung phone, but still have my Samsung Watch. I was wondering if it was worth selling it and getting a cheap fitness band. I've used Mi Band's before… the first and second versions. Tempted to try this one out.

Watch The Quantified Scientist in Youtube. The only one in the world that check and compare the accuracy of many smartwatches, fitness trackers, smart rings, etc.

      • This. I have had few previous generations and loved them but they are not well known fort heart rate accuracy during exercise.
Normal daily regular measurments are fine but fast changes might be missed.

        • It's up there on bang for buck.

If you're up for pure accuracy, spend 10-20x more for an apple watch that you need to charge every day.

          • @Manny Calavera: Huawei Band 9. Huawei is brand no.2 after Apple for accuracy. No need to recharge every day. Apple watch is good if people already have iphone. ECG function in apple watch needs iphone. Same with Samsung watch.

            • @neoleo: Samsung watch needs an iPhone?

              • @Manny Calavera: Samsung watch need Samsung phone for ECG function for example.

            • @neoleo: Huawei are awesome tech. As long as you like their app you'll be fine. No Google fit integration unfortunately.

              • +1

@philotex: Use Health Sync app to sync with Google Fit.

I have Huawei GT-Runner smart watch from previous Ozb deal. Only recharge once a week, accurate heart rate (already compared with pulse oximeter), and a lot of free nice watch faces too :)

  • How well does it work with iPhone?

    • +1

I have one. It can sync data with Health, but the data quality is hit or miss depending on what it is. For example, the advanced sleep metrics like REM don't translate from Mi Fitness into Health, so all you get is 'asleep or not'. But other pieces of data like step count etc. sync as expected. The sync from Mi Fitness > Health is automatic once you enable it, but I'm not sure if the sync from Device > Mi Fitness is automatic or not on iPhone.

  • Cheers just bought the black with magnetic strap for like $60

  • i got the v8. its fantastic.

I got this from the other deal 2 weeks ago, really enjoying it over my old gear s3 frontier which was a bit too bulky. battery life is pretty good, with sleep, hr (smart) and stress monitoring, I'm getting about about 7 days on a single charge.

  • How does one get it for $44.33. Cheapest I can get (Band only) is AU$54.61 which includes the discount code (-$9.08), then add GST of $5.46, Total is AU$60.07.

    • What's your USD price?

      • Actually spotted the issue……..me! Promo is only for the "Silver" version, not black hence the difference. All good but thanks for making me check!

  • thanks op i ordered a silver + blue band since i like blue but it cost me a few dollars extra aud$49.43 staight up aud without using a card without international fees
