Had an alert go off on this. Excellent price. Normally $8 each and $6.40 on special at Coles. $3.60 is very cheap and tracked as lowest price to date.
I got a few of these 6 packs, unsure of expiry but recommended to use this on your washing machine every 2 months

  • good deal!!!!!!!!!!!

  • one of the review comments:

I bought a box of 6 bottles of Dettol, thinking they would keep my machine clean for many, many months.
It should be used every 2 months, but I received the box near the middle of February. That means I can use Dettol cleaner about 3 more times (which would be 1 bottle) before it runs out on 3/10/2024. Because this is old stock, the 6 pack box is a waste of money.

Is this close to outdated stock?

No idea but I wonder does dettol cleaner expire? If so - buy and return any which can't be used

      • +2

It will have an expiry date but for all practical purposes it won't expire in a sealed container

      • It's fine for many years after the "expiry date".

  • Anyone else’s machine foam up a lot when using this?

    • Yeah my top loader has this issue with this product along with most liquid based cleaners.

Ended up swapping to a powder cleaner as the foam was excessive.

I was just about to mention this. It foamed a lot and I ended up switching to pine o cleen washing machine cleaner.

      • +1

I found the pine o cleen doesn't foam as much but it has a wierd smell

  • +2

Hot wash with a few dishwashing tabs does the job

    • I heard that too, but never tried. Bosch says not a good idea. They say use their product though - which could be a marketing tactic.

      • Any washing machine descaler should work. Coles have generic branded one (though the one posted here comes out cheaper). Just add essential oils for any smells you like.

Cannot be sent to country location.

How did people survive before this?? I’ve googled death by clothing but can’t find anything…

I’ve googled death by clothing but can’t find anything…

Clothing, or cord removed from clothing, was used in about one-quarter (24%) and one-fifth of the cases (20%), respectively.

Suicide by hanging in police custody

    • I guess if you have a habit of eating off your clothing or otherwise sucking your clothes extensively it might be a problem that needs this solution.

    Or vinegar is $1/L….

    • Have been doing this for years. Cheap and effective.

    • What's your vinegar ratio? How much do you use?
I need to descale my washing machine we have super hard water here and both this and dishwasher need it constantly

      • Ratio? Measurements? It's vinegar, you can use as much as you like…. Just fill the soap dispenser and run a hot wash

  • It's just lactic acid, a.k.a. descaler, plus some antibacterial stuff. You don't really need the latter if you run the washing machine at a high temperature (60C or higher) once every couple months.

Just put a tablespoon of citric acid ($5 for 150g at Woolies) plus a tablespoon of generic Napisan (sodium percarbonate, e.g. Clean Boost Triple Enzyme Power Soaker is $3.90/kg) into the detergent dispenser, and run the machine at the highest temp (usually there is a 90C drum cleaning program). It won't harm your machine and will be much cheaper than this.

    • White vinegar can also be used as fabric softener as well as to clean the machine. So you can kill two birds with one stone.

  • These things have massive markup, pretty sure I brought the Pine O Cleen ones for less than $15, 250mL x 6.

I haven't used any washing machine cleaning products ever, and my current top loader is 11 years old. I feel like manufacturers are overstating the need to clean the machine.

    • +1

I am in the same boat. I never knew that washing machines needed cleaning. It hasn't been an issue for me

    • +1

      Same here.

    • Same - I thought the washing powder and many litres of water would remove most of the odours and germs anyway?

    • People that use way too much soap and chemicals probably get soap scum build up in their machines and need these expensive remedies. I've also never had a problem with a smelly grimey or residue covered machine using cheap detergent, occasionally vinegar, and importantly leaving the door open to dry out in between washes.

    • I assume it's a hard water thing. People that buy this, are you all in Adelaide?

  • Showing no stock!

Received mine with expiry April 2026

  • My current 8 Kg top loader is five years old now and all I ever do, is run it through a wash with no spin and quick rinse, with about 50mil of the cheap disinfectant added after all washing is done. Looks brand new inside..

  • No one suggesting bleach? Works fine and cleans better than anything else for an occasional deep clean. Machines are designed to take it you can bleach whites.
