All my locals were charging $20+ each pizza today, ended up ordering a kebab combo from a shop on the list, $7 delivered, win!

    • +1

$20 is a bargain these days for a pizza. I generally see pizza prices in the $27 - $35 range now on DD. There are still a couple of stores selling decent pizzas below $20 but you really have to hunt for them. I find other menu choices typically provide better value for the Italian promos.

      • +1

I think the $20 was for cheese pizza I’ll be honest. Most pizzas were around the price point you mentioned. I agree with looking at other options, the “italian” in my area seems to be mostly kebab shops so worked in my favour haha

        • +1

Good choice. Had a kebab last week after a long break and it really hit the spot. Enjoy your lunch!

  • Everything on the list is still closed

    • Pre-order?

      • +3

lots of restaurants temporary closed in SA from the list, guess they hate this deal

        • Do the restaurants cop the bill for the discount?

          • @BrokeCamel: i believe the doordash pay for it normally as official promotion

            • @tl2923: Yes, I assumed this. So why would any sellers not love the deal? If DD is footing the bill, why would the sellers not just view it as something akin to free promotion/free advertising; not to mention the profit they presumably make from each sale?

It's not like the Dominos deals of yesteryear, where franchisees were duped into selling huge numbers of pizzas below cost. I could understand those guys calling shenanigans on that … even though they lost their court case. I reckon they should have won it.

              • @GnarlyKnuckles: sometimes everyone has their own way to calculate profit and as those platform always keep taking certain amount of money from the shops, they will start thinking its worthy or not. they couldnt mark too expensive in the platform, no one will happy to pay $10 for a coffee though

                • @tl2923: Erm … I agree that almost no one would be happy to pay $10 for a coffee. There is apparently an exception though, re those weird coffees made using beans shat out by a rare animal (Kopi Luwak). Those coffees can be quite exy …

    Woo pre-ordered pizza for dinner

  • +1

I used the same code 3 times with the last order about 10 minutes after the previous. Maybe a problem with the code limits - use wisely while you can!

Edit - getting order limit for the code on the 4th use with the same account.

    • Wait you can use the same code over and over?

    • Tried using the same code again but it said I have reached the limit. Damn it

      • +1

Sorry mate, they are usually quick to fix errors with order limits.

It's a food party for me in about 10 minutes.

  • +2

Doesn’t seem to work for new accounts

Looking through some of the Italian restaurants and I’m seeing $36 bowls of spaghetti, like wtf??

Few days ago I ordered a $22 pizza from a Italian pizza place and literally laughed out loud when it arrived because it was so small.

    • +4

Agree on the pasta prices. Above $30 is the standard for me as well. I have one store I can use on UE that still sells great pasta for $15 when I'm desperate.

If I see a pizza for low $20's I always double check if there are size mentions anywhere or upsells. I generally assume they are small.

"deals" for a 2 pizza, side, 1.25L drink are $65+ now. Who pays that?

  • Thanks OP, dinner for two sorted. Bolognese with extra sauce, Fettucini, Meatballs, Garlic bread and a Chinnoto on the side for ~$10 pickup

    • +1

Care to share a price breakdown of that order? I’m not seeing anything even remotely close to that cheap.

  • +3

    Im getting error
Promotikn code cannnot be applied to this order . Please remove or use another promotion code.
The restuarant has the banner 15$ off on it.
Anyone know how to get around this error ?

    • +1

Are you using a new account? It clashes with the first free delivery order.

  • +3

My order got cancelled by the store. Now, I am unable to use the code again for any other stores saying I've reached the limit for the promo. When I tried to bring this up with customer service, the rep simply said that the code has been used and there is nothing she can do. When I stated the initial order was never fulfilled, she simply repeated her point and avoided continuing the chat by saying she hasn't heard from me and closed the chat within 5 seconds of her most recent message.

    • +1

Why do the restaurants even care if you are using a coupon code lmao, they still get paid the exact same amount. Menulog is just covering the rest

    • +2

      Which restaurant?
So we can avoid that forever

    • +1

      Hmm that sucks

Did you have dashpass? Curious if that influences the support's decision.

      • You get the best support on newer accounts. Doesn’t matter if you have DashPass or spend 10’s of thousands with them. Things get worse the more you spend as you eventually run into more issues. The more issues you have the less help you get. This is the same for UE, ML etc. I’ve previously won a large DD promo and trust me you get no extra favours or special treatment.

    • +1

Try reaching out to support again and lodge as a complaint instead? Sucks that you miss out due to store cancelling your order.

      • I tried doing so and it kind of backfired on me. Received 2 calls at 4am in the morning to discuss the matter.

    • +2

During last promotion me and my wife placed pre-orderes for pizzas. The restaurant didn't confirm my order. I went at the pickup time and they told me they don't do doordash at all. Complained to cs and they just cancelled my order and returned only the amount I paid. I insisted it's not my fault that they listed a restaurant they don't have agreement with and insisted on another code. They just added the $15 as account credit. The CS my wife spoke to didn't budge in, and my wife didn't care as much as me though. Totally depends on who you speak to.

    • Same thing happened to me. Support is horrible and closes chat saying cant do anything.

      • It gets worse. I raised a complaint and they tried to call me twice at 4am in the morning to discuss.

  • +1

“Whoops! We cannot fulfil this order at the moment due to excess demand”

  • Won't let me schedule its grayed out….

  • Thanks! Pizzas were too expensive but I preordered 3 large coffees tomorrow morning for $6 hahaha

  • Ahh my local pizza place increased their bundles by $15 last night. This explains why.
I'll check again tomorrow and see if they go back down.

    • Code is only valid today though?

      • Yeah nevermind, they haven't gone back down. Damn.

        • DD says more to come through to Footy Finals, so keep your eyes peeled for more deals?

  • Get in quick!

Yep, ended way before dinner time last time. Best to schedule an order imo.

  • majority shops seem to open late arvo

  • +2

Missed out last time because i was too slow. Pre-ordered dinner for tonight, thanks OP!

  • I'll have free pizza pickup from Pizza Hut later in few days. So, I ordered free gelato 750 ml :P instead of another pizza. Their gelato varieties are $15, so it's free with this promo ;-)

I ordered it from The Darling Restaurant in Pyrmont near Pyrmont Bridge, Darling Harbour Sydney. They have pizza varieties that are quite affordable from Traditional pizza ($12.5 small, $16.5 medium, $20.5 large), Gourmet pizza ($13.5 small, 17.5 medium, $21.5 large), and Vegan pizza $18.95

Edit: I used another Doordash account to get another gelato 750 ml pickup later :P

  • Brilliant. Pre-ordered a $16.40 pizza with $15 off for tonight.
(Plus delivery fee, but I don't want to go out in the rain, so I'm fine with that.)

  • +4

If you’re reading this and still wondering what to order, just decide quickly or you’ll regret it!! You snooze, you lose!

  • Large chips 2 potato scallops for $1.11 delivered might not be nutritious but a dirt cheap lunch

  • +1

    Gone, I think.

  • +2

    Expired?

    • +1

      Think so

  • +1

Mine didnt work either, probs gone

  • +1

Welp forgot about this until now, looks like it's a non-italian lunch for me today

    • I got 2x 750 ml gelato for free from this promo with 2 different accounts :P

Later I'll pickup free pizza from Pizza Hut in few days from TopCashback ;-)

Next time maybe better put reminder in your phone. I use Google Tasks as reminder. If I lose my phone or phone broken, I can get all my reminders from Google Tasks in another phone.

      • I utilised the Ozb reminder which notified me at 7am when nothing was open lol

Used the last one, and just had my free pizza hut pizza so wasn't exactly a hankering for Italian food lmao. Redeemed my free GYG Burrito instead which I got from the $5 burrito day when I had to wait 10 mins :)

        • +1

I still have other food from Doordash 50% discount, that's why I scheduled pizza in few days. I like to try other food. The gelato 750 ml that I got today was made by Gelatissimo. Free :P

In few days, I'll use a new Boost sim card from 100% cashback. More freebies and other bargains ;-)

          • @neoleo: Cool? I have a life outside of food and know how to cook, 50% discount was still expensive around me, I only grab the bargains that are cheaper than cooking :))

Don't like gelato so that's not exactly a loss.

  • Just gone I think.

  • +2

Gone, but banner says heaps more coming!

Thanks DD, let’s see what else you can pull out of your hat.

  • -2

    Still there

    • Wait did you use code after it was expired?

      • I was able to select the promo $15 off from the cart at that time, but it disappered later

  • Placed order this morning for later pick up using code. Saw I was charged full price. Had to cancel order. alApp and customer service is rubbish

    • +3

If you change the pickup schedule time then you need to select the promo again. Its a bit dodgy.

      • +1

Pretty sure I didn't change anything.
The app is so buggy. I'm using another account to try order using the new code (ITALNEW15). It says promotion is available and applied, but won't let order go through

        • Where are you seeing that code? I can’t find any mention of it in the app

          • +1

@lordezekiel: I set a new account up last week but haven't used it yet. It might be a code for new accounts

  • im getting pizza'd out ngl

  • +1

    Expired already? Damn so sad

  • +4

Got the wrong order delivered (ordered kids Spaghetti Bolognese for my son and got a spicy chicken sandwich).

Went onto DoorDash support with a photo of the other order and they refused to reissue the $15 voucher. It's now expired. Very unhappy child.

    • +2

Similar thing happened with me last week, got the wrong order and the app flat out refused any possible resolution, I then just gave up and didn’t bother contacting them about it.

      • +2

I did contact them with a photo and the agent said the system won't let him do anything. Said he couldn't escalate.

No wonder Tony Xu is worth $2b+ with junk service like this.

      • +2

That sucks. I've only used Uber Eats support and it's generally automated. Gives you an instant resolution after you attach a photo (either immediate credits or 3-5 business day refund).

        • +1

Yeah, haven’t quite figured UE out yet, I use it a LOT but their resolution methods vary, sometimes it’s instantaneous and other times it takes several hours before an actual person address my enquiry and offers the appropriate resolution,
Having said that, they have never stiffed me, they save that bit for their drivers and their restaurant partners.

  • +2

Order got cancelled as the store claimed did not receive my order. The cs told me they will escalate this to appropriate team to review and ended the chat quickly. Anyone successfully got any compensation from them because they cancel the order themselves?

    • They refused for me.

    • Nope. They always just refund the payment for me. Never extra compensation. CS also just left the chat abruptly
