KFC in title will count as dupe best to replace it with another deal

    • cheers updated

  • +1

    Thanks OP.

Thanks Doordash for doing a much better job than CBA Yello for the billions in profit they are making and keeping, and unlike others like Woollies, David Jones, Uber One, Menulog, Shopback/Westpac who’s somewhat doing a decent job which helps out with cost of living.

    • +5

Doordash isn't making any profit - they lost around USD$150m last quarter. All these deals are funded by investors in the hopes the service will someday be profitable, which it likely will never be.

      • +5

Yes I am aware of this, similar with most other startups that has gotten very large like Uber etc.

As an end user, it’s irrelevant to me whether how they are funding these deals via fund raising, profits or other means. As long as I am getting the deals.

Further, if an organization is making pure profits, that’s even more of an ability to offer deals.

    • +1

I got hosed by the UE fanboys for their shitty deals.

  • Anyone know if the DoorDash AUSTAR deal resets if you dont use it at 50% off?

Im at 50% now, i'm curious if I make an order using a different promotion, will reset back to 0?

    • +4

      It resets back to 10%

      • Thanks for sharing!

    • +3

I had made a post on this. See here:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/865451

      • Yeah, the way i figure is that its a carousel of discounts that you just jump on at a point.

      • +1

Brilliantly written post btw, made it very easy to comprehend how they operate.

    • Yes I used the $15 off kebab deal and it went back to 10%……

  • Thanks OP. I'd like 50% discount and $15 off available every week :P

  • It doesn't mention how many times we can use per account

    • Usually single use sadly

      • Use more than 1 account then if you want more.

        • I regretted doing that. Last few times when I've had issues with orders it seems DD is logging alt accounts and won't give you a full refund on issues with orders because of it. One time I had an issue with a family pizza being delivered cold (Because the driver took his sweet time) contacted DD support and only got issued $5 and lost everything else… and because of me having alts is why they didn't give me a complete refund.

          • @RocketToSpace: I think for many hot food, it's better to reheat the food in microwave because delivery takes time. If I am in your position, I'll just reheat the food and no complain. But everyone is different. Other people don't have any complain and still use more than one account if you read previous promo.

            • @neoleo: Thing is at the time I didn't have anything to re-heat the pizza (Trust me I would have I hate tossing out food).

Still stupid of DD not issuing full refunds because of "alt accounts" tho. I don't know if me deleting the accounts would solve this issue (Probably not knowing DD).

              • +1

@RocketToSpace: I'm wondering how they know you have multiple accounts.
                Using the same…
                name?
                phone number?
                payment method?
                etc?

  • Apologies, never used Doordash before. I work near an Oporto's and thought I'd try this out. Will this $5 offer work for pick up? Can't see it on the app just yet even though technically it's Tuesday (2am upon typing this hehe). I'll check it tomorrow at lunch time too, been craving Oportos recently too :)

    • Fast food chains generally don't offer pickup on DD/UE. Try your luck though I could be wrong.

    • +1

Pick up should be available at most locations, see previous deal.

      Subtotal
      $14.95
      Discount
      -$9.95
      Total
      $5.00

    • +1

Yeah , I checked my one , hornsby nsw I can pick up. 5$

    • FYI it worked! $5 Double Oprego was excellent

  • Was really hoping they would of done the red rooster fried chicken deal again…

  • +1

Using Canadian Dash Pass, with minimum Subtotal of $15 for free delivery, so got a burger delivered for $5.60 (had to add lemon and herb sauce to go over the $15 requirement). Not a bad deal, although if it was on the Aussie Dashpass with a minimum $20 purchase (so having to buy an extra $5 worth of stuff for free delivery), doesn't really seem worth it.

    • I did the same last week except added the original chilli sauce

    • Canadian's have less fees? Wtf!
Just proves Australia gets F'ed when it comes to everything these days :(

    • Is the Canadian dash pass deal still active?

      • +1

Yes, I signed up to it just two days ago.

  • +1

Tried one today.. Not for me. I think it was maybe the Bondi burger that I remember fondly about.

    • +1

Yeah Bondi is definitely better. Gotta have that chilli sauce

      • Yep that is definitely what I was dreaming about. I got the oprego without even thinking. I think they use like a peanut sauce? Was pretty flavourless no spice no punch no nothing. Honestly was just like a very bland wet grilled chicken burger. You need to bring your own sauce to this deal.

  • What the RRP of the double oprego? I've only had oportos a few times and if I recall their burgers are tiny…..

    • About $11.45 in store. $14.95 on DoorDash.

      • +1

Man fast food sure has gotten expensive…..

        • +2

This is why the staple of broccoli + rice + grilled chicken is a surefire meal that is inexpensive and can be eaten 4-5 meals per week.
You can then be creative with the other remaining meal slots

  • So…are the burgers any good?

    • If you bring your own sauce I think it can be salvageable. Maybe if you combo it with like a KFC supercharger sauce or something or really anything because it tasted like a wet grilled chicken burger to me. Some greenish bland sauce I think it was trying to be satay but tastes no where near that.

  • -1

Not terrible but not good either for $5 imo

Rather small but moreso it doesn't have much flavour

Content to have tried it once but probably won't get it again.

    • Can see this being decent if you add your own sauce to it either from kfc, McDonald's or anything really.

Yeah if you can get the Bondi sauce somehow then this would be a great deal.

  • Oporto has gone to shitze since being taken over by Private Equity, those suits always think buying businesses, cutting corners and adding a few accounting tricks would let them make a lot of money, not in this case as PAG has tried to sell this business for years with no luck.

Bondi burger is the go if you really want to eat at Oporto. Otherwise, avoid.

    • Which private equity group took it over?
I thought it was owned by QSRgroup?

      • Since 2007 it's changed hands like 3-4 times, most recent is Singaporean group PAG. They've tried floating it a number of times, market keeps saying eff off.

  • got two orders using different mobile numbers. one was cancelled. don't know why.

  • +1

Today's subway discount seems to be 40% off Sub-Dog combo box only, pretty disappointing. Also wanted to charge me $2.99 for delivery even with DashPass

    • I was able to use on a non-Subdog combo just now. Still pricey tho as service fee isn’t waived.

    • Can be used on regular subs. Disappointing pick up can't be used though

  • +4

For today's 50% off locals. They've added a second banner now (purple one), with different local restaurants, than the red banner with only Concept 8 stores. So worth rechecking.

Soul Origin appear to be running their own promo with their own code SOUL50.

    • Code still isn't working, still says "Whoops
Unfortunately. you have reached your order limit for this promotion."

      • Which code were you using?

Have you ordered at that store previously? It's first order at the restaurant for FAMOUS50.

        • Never ordered from that store before, tried that code with multiple stores too, same result.

          • @Mynearyd: Hmm right. I wonder if it won't work if you had used it on 26/8.

          • @Mynearyd: I have ordered from 2 different restaurants today with FAMOUS50 code. Then it's the same message with you about order limit. So, limit of 2 orders for me for 1 account today.

So, either you have ordered with the code and reached your limit or the restaurant is not included or is not participating with the code today. Try a different code or choose another restaurant.

            • @neoleo: I didn't use that code at all today, maybe there was a similar promotion on 26/8 as mentioned by @hamza23 above. I only chose restaurants that showed when I clicked on the banner, and FAMOUS50 was the code I entered

Today's deal was so underwhelming (30% off min $45 spend). Anyone knows if tomorrow's deal is $15 off no min spend again?

  • Is it $15 off Italian today no min spend?

    • +2

Seems it - ITAL15 - Just used it to Schedule a $3 pickup pizza

      • +1

Looking through some of the Italian restaurants and I’m seeing $36 bowls of spaghetti, like wtf??

  • Sunday's deal is $10 Grill'd burgers. Do you reckon it'd limited to one burger per transaction? Or could I plan to feed the family?

    • tell them all to create a doordash account now haha

  • +1

When I checked this morning it was all $30 bowls of pasta in my area.
Checked again before lunch and Ooshman finally showed up. Got me a $3.50 fully tabouli wrap.

  • +1

    Grill’d code for today’s deal is GRILLDTODAY2

    • +1

Thanks, not showing on the app yet for me.

      • +1

Seems to exclude Big QLD burgers and only available for delivery?

End result is about $2 saving compared to if you purchased in store.

    • It doesn't seem to work for all the non-wagyu beef and grilled chicken burgers, only some of them, at my designated store for delivery.
Has anyone else come across this?

      • +1

Seems like it only works for the simply Grill’d and some of the cheaper grilled chicken burgers, effectively making this promotion garbage.

        • +1

After this deal I don't feel anything at Grill'd is good value any more

Somebody can go ahead and post this as a deal, I cbf lol.

    • +1

Thanks for sharing! Given it's mostly with branded stores they are likely not as attractive as the previous round (except for Sat kebabs, hopefully $15 off no min spend again)

    • Did a deal for this ever get posted? What was the Subway offer?

      • +1

40% off their combo meals but it would have been cheaper to just buy a footlong or two using the subway app.
All average deals this week so far, nothing special.
