My Miele Dishwasher Died after 20 Years - Need to Buy a New One

Miele product has such a quality and my dishwasher has lasted over 20 years.
It was working fine until I tumbled on the door when it was flat opened and I landed on it that eventually damaged the hinge.

I think what made this machine great is the two components used in their assembly.

  • Heating : Throughflow water heater
  • Drying : TurbothemicPlus drying

Now I tried to find similar components used in the modern Miele dishwashers but I can't find the information on their website.

Anyway I am tossing between the basic model ($1.6k) and one step higher ($2.6k) for freestanding models.

I don't need AutoDos, Automatic door open when finished, or web connect, etc, some fancy features but if it has better elements mentioned above I would buy even if it is dearer.

Any advice? Is Miele still a good dishwasher to buy compared to the old days?

    Smeg

  • I don’t know if a modern appliance would last that long nowadays (even if same brand). Anyway I had a delonghi from an ozbargain deal. Hasn’t missed a bit and it’s now 5 years old. I paid just over $200, massive bargain.

Siemens iq500. All the qualities of the German made Bosch units with a 5 year warranty. Ours is going on about 8 years, perfect so far.

Siemens dishwasher iq700 - broke down 3 times (1-st time buttons' paint started peeling badly - fixed under warranty, 2-nd time main board died - fixed warranty, 3 time, gives error when washing at 75 degrees - gave up on it and so not use that cycle anymore).

Siemens oven iq700 (or something like that) - broke down 2 times, fixed under warranty

Siemens warming drawer stopped warming at low temperature settings - did not bother fixing it

Siemens washing machine rotating know started to give up after a couple years of use - did not bother fixing it. The hose that it came with ($200 to replace) developed a leak, replaced it with a cheap one from Bunnings.

The only thing from Siemens that works without complaints (yet) is the dryer but we use it once every couple of months (at most).

Will never buy anything from Siemens again and would not recommend to anyone, other than to my sworn enemy:)

  • Fix the current one!

    • I wish I could, but the door has a large dent on it and it’ll leak in operation. I love this unit that now I realised.

  • Bosch Series 6 has been great. Bosch SMS6HCI02A/21 is my model.

  • Check out the Miele Outlet store. Generally 20% off current models and 30% off superseded models. You can contact them to send you a current stock list.

I went to Miele outlet and bought G7114 at $1,520 plus delivery and 3 yrs extended warranty. I wanted to buy an old model but not available. This is the current model on display.
My journey to buy a Miele is now ended. Thank you all for your comments.

    • Great price.

Bro get the cheapo $400/$500 one. It will most probably last 4/5 years so technically similar lifespan in comparison to a higher end one that costs $1.6K to $2.6K. Any additional years above 4/5 would be bonus.

    • This

  • How often does Miele offer the 10 year warranty?

The dishwasher got delivered but it’s not made in Germany but Czech republic. I had thought the higher model is definitely German made and think all current G series are not made in Germany (didn’t see it mentioned on the Miele website)
Edit: oh they chuck a voucher of 6xPower disk with the package.

Thanks for the update. How disappointing it's not made in Germany!
