Attention OzBargainers, there is an ATL price on the popular Poco X6 Pro, which is arguably the best value phone on the market. Don't be fooled by the Mediatek Dimensity, it is within arms reach of performance with the Snapdragon 8s Gen 3, has all day battery life, and all the bands you need for the Australian market. Must pay in AUD for the coupon to apply. — Mod

If you're willing to spend a bit extra on this rather than the OzBargain favourite Motorola G84, what you get in return is significantly more performance and features for the money. You'll also get promised OS updates to Android 17, and security updates until 2028.

As soon as I saw this, it was a no brainer for me. For anyone worried about cases and screen protectors, this one already comes with both in the box.

Once you checkout, the grand total price will be $399.54 AUD after GST is added. With the code AUFF45 (which is valid on orders over $350), you can save $45, making the final price $354.54 delivered (pay with PayPal to be sure).

Stack this with the current 8% Cashrewards cashback to make the final price $330.51. Mine tracked at $24.03. Please mention price after cashback in description only. — Mod

  • If you're willing to spend a bit extra on this rather than the OzBargain favourite Motorola G84, what you get in return is significantly more performance and features for the money.

The Motorola G84 was posted yesterday for $268.19 del so that's $86 less.

  • Any issues using google pay with these, or is that a thing of the past ?

    • +2

POCO phone is supposed to have the stock Android ROM.
So Google pay should not be an issue.
      It's a 50% rip-off international version of Redmi.

    • +3

We have 2 of these phones in our household. Been using Google Pay since day 1 with no issues (BankWest CC, ANZ Debit).

      Brilliant phone.

      • How is the battery life? Does it the last the entire day say from 8am to 6pm range. Or need one or two charges during the day?

If it gives between 5 to 9 hours of screen on time I'll be happy as Larry.

Don't care too much about camera quality. Just battery & outdoor screen visibility. Too low nits no good for me.

        • I can't complain about the screen time. It has AMOLED screen and works great outside - especially high sunny areas.

I use a golf app called MiScore and with GPS active and it being a screen always-on app, it will drop around 40% in 4 hrs. the battery drain I feel is more GPS than screen tbh.

          • @CachePC: That’s above average battery life I reckon.
With outdoor full brightness+ gps on combo, that’s good enough.
Glad that Australian banking apps work & Google pay is working as well in Australia use.

Don't be fooled by the Mediatek Dimensity, it is within arms reach of performance with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3

Umm… No it's not. Maybe a bit closer to a 8s Gen 3 but otherwise it looks similar to an 8+ Gen 1.

Attention OzBargainers, we have an ATL price on the popular Poco X6 Pro

Shouldn't you be marked as "Associated"?

    • +1

Edited that - definitely not associated, just love a good deal lol

  • 8300 ultra is more closer to a gen 1+ cpu wish and a gen 2 GPU wise. Better benchmarks here https://www.socpk.com/ still a good deal tho

  • +1

    Any 3G shutdown issue?

    • +2

If you are on Optus network, they will harass you with texts and emails and play a pre-recorded message daily, claiming that this phone will stop working soon.
There is a risk that you won't be able to make emergency calls after 3G shutdown and even that unsupported phones will be denied service:
      https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/865003

      • "There is a risk that you won't be able to make emergency calls after 3G shutdown"

That's the part that worries me…. Currently using the F3

        • That's the part that worries me…. Currently using the F3

Yeah same, don't care about the warning messages if it's only until the shutddown, but not if the big telcos end up denying you service due to their incorrect information regarding foreign-bought handsets.

      • +4

I’m getting that message every single call now, and then an sms from Optus and one from Amaysim after each call. Used to be only after the first call of the day. It’s really starting to get irritating lol.

    • +4

      This^^
I love my Poco X3 Pro, but I'm getting the annoying 20 second, 3G shutdown warning message before each call.

Also Dimensity chipsets have less custom rooms, which is not ideal for me

      • +1

I am still using Poco X3 Pro with VOLTE and VOWIFI enabled, so hopefully the 3G shutdown won't impact. Have you turn on VOLTE and VOWIFI? Assuming your carrier supports it…

Here is how you can do it: (Copy Paste from a forum)

To turn on VoLTE: open your phone app and dial ##86583## and you'll see a quick toast message saying it's turned on. Type the code again to turn it off.
To turn on VoWifi: open your phone app and dial ##869434##
        To check settings ##INFO##

Also look under the SIM card settings. If you've enabled either properly there should be a menu item saying "Use VoLTE" and similar.

Once enabled for me it took a few minutes for VoLTE to register. I rebooted, but don't think that was necessary. Now I make VoLTE calls (4G stays in place during the call) and I have a VoLTE icon in the status bar.

        • I tried to do this on my Poco X3 Pro (Boost) and kept getting the error message "Connection problem or invalid MMI code".

        • +2

Yeah, i'm same as @Mat_lab above.

I have tried all sorts of dial codes from whirlpool forums but no luck as Boost has disabled some of those MMI codes it seems.

What I have also done is dial
          * # * #4636# * # * (minus the spaces) ->Phone Information -> set Preferred Network type as "LTE only", and still get that crappy incompatible handset message.

Will likely wait till November to see what happens to my current Poco X3 Pro before I buy another Xiaomi.

    • Hmm I thought this would only be an issue for devices that don't support any 4G and/or VoLTE? Meaning devices from like 2010 or earlier

Why would any phone released after like 2014 be affected by this?

      • because telstra, optus and co authorise phones, this was never released in Aus, therefore not going to be authorised. There are ways to bypass this for certain phones but theres no guarantee these loopholes won't be closed

        • Hm sorry I don't follow..

Optus/Telstra etc. authorise phones that were never released to Australia that don't support the same frequency bands used in Australia?

          • +1

@illumination: Nothing to do with frequency bands. Everything to do with registering on VoLTE on the network. At the end of the day telstra etc allow devices to register to the network and a lot of chinese phones purchased from overseas arn't allowed. It really is a shambles at the moment

      • +1

VoLTE/Vo5G/VoWiFi is network administered, not device administered.

If the phone's firmware isn't on the network's whitelist, it won't get VoLTE/Vo5G. Sometimes you can force it, but not always.

Considering all networks are moving to 100% VoLTE/Vo5G in a few months, it's risky, in my opinion.

They might start allowing all firmwares that support it when they turn off 3G (due to travellers, etc), but it's a risk.

  • How's the camera quality like comparing to Google Pixel 9 Pro or iPhone 15?

    • +1

Camera quality is below average . I am only buying for playing mobile game.

      • +1

Does it have good performance for gaming? I wonder what google pixel or samsung phone this is equivalent to in terms of gaming performance

        • Even my poco x3 pro perform way better than pixel 8 pro.. have both, just want to get rid of the pixel…pixel are very bad phone in terms of performance, for instance it takes few sec to take a photo in night mode… Never ever a pixel again until they start using snapdragon..

  • Wondering how it takes to deliver …

  • What's the point of a Poco without a Snapdragon that you can custom ROM? How will will Poco support this one?

  • With the current state of play regarding 3g shutdown and the possibility that these chinese phones won't be able to make calls going forward (unauthorised phones won't be able to use volte), all users should be warned against importing almost all phones from aliexpress etc, do your research before you buy!
It was a great move from the telcos to basically kill off the cheap phone market.

  • ATL price?

    • All time low

  • No mention of Esim anywhere on the listing, Reddit 'consensus' suggests no support, can't picture buying anything without Esim nowadays..

  • +1

Please have a read of https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/865003 before buying/owning any imported mobile phone that does/may get emergency call warnings on any of the three Australian mobile networks.

TL;DR Any mobile the telcos don't think can correctly do emergency (000/112) VoLTE calling on all three networks will soon be blocked from working on Australian networks (excludes short term roamers).

  • Does anyone know if this model supports eSim ? am currently on eSim and would hate to have to switch back to a physical sim card.

      • Do any pocophones have esim yet? Even some of the equivalent xiaomi ones that do haven't made it over to the pocophone once rebranded.

  • It's quite possible this won't be able to call on telstra when 3g shuts down unless someone can confirm they have Volte working. Optus and vodafone should be fine as they use open config.

    • Even with VoLTE enabled these phones may be blocked by telco operators, see comments above.

      • +1

Yeah, only just realised that, crazy. Hopefully there's a workaround or it's not IMEI based as I have a xiaomi with working volte and 000 but telco thinks it doesn't work.

        • Yep same, got an Xiaomi Mi 9T & it has band 28 so I'm getting fed up with the recorded message (Belong) saying it won't work as it's already working on VoLTE.
          Anyway I'm leaving Belong soon.

  • Tempting, but I still got a soft spot for my x3 pro. So good. Never misses a beat.

  • So many poco x3 pro user like mine… Solid like rock.. Still perform like new after nearly 4 years..

    • Yeah, I replaced my trusted x3 pro with Motorola g54 recently and honestly it feels like a downgrade.

  • With the 3G shut down issues, no warranty, potential Chinese spyware, having to deal with the multitude of bugs from MIUI, delayed notifications from MIUI's aggressive battery management, and extremely limited custom ROM support given it's a MediaTek chip, not a great deal.

Moto G84 is a much safer bet, plus it's cheaper.

    • -1

it's your choice to stick with Snapdragon 695 which is dinosaur performance.

Moreover, Moto is owned by the Chinese company Lenovo.

      • Unless you're gaming, the SD695 performs absolutely fine for day-to-day use.

While Lenovo does own motorola, Motorola's headquarters are based in the US, so they're subject to US law. So if Motorola was involved in some data leak to China, they'd be subjected to US privacy law. I doubt China would care if Xiaomi was data mining (they'd more likely endorse it). Before you say something on the lines of US/NSA spying on you anyway, with Xiaomi you'd have Google services anyway, so you'd have both the USA and China spying on you, not just the US.

Also with the notorious hardware issues with Poco motherboards dying and causing device bricking (Poco X3 pro), it's quite risky to purchase a phone without a warranty.

        • Did you know Lenovo bought Moto mobile department a decent ago?
Moto mobile has nothing to do with moto headquarter in USA.

@User0001: Wiki is full of misinformation and can't be used as references.

              • @salin: I'm not sure you understand how references work.

Wiki includes it's references right there in the articles.

You can absolutely use it as a reference, because the very sentence under discussion is referenced to the following sources :

@Nom: User0001 said Motorola Mobile is still running a US business.

I told him Lenovo bought the Motorola Mobile.

                • @Nom: Don't bother, they're a troll. They posted a very racist comment against Indians before editing it.

I would recommend blocking and moving on.

  • With this 3g shutdown issue, is it only annoying sms that we will receive or it may shut down our phone connection when 3g becomes unavailable ? 000 calls is important but if they may put the phone from excluded list in the future, the phone will be better value from G84 due to the future OS and security updates.

  • +5

I'm looking forward to the shutdown. I want to see what happens. As far as I can tell my Poco F3 is good to go but Optus and Amaysim have annoyingly told me, 100 times or more, that I'm not. We shall see.

    • +1

It's a recorded message every time you make a call with Belong Mobile, very annoying.

    • +2

Yeah, Optus is incredibly annoying. I switched to Vodafone (Lebara) a week ago and haven't received a single message that my Poco X3 is no good.
