Bought this last week on the CR 15% deal (it was 1TB then). Cashback was tracked at $284.85

  • +1

    now that's a great deal.

  • -3

Almost 2k but doesnt have usb 4.0…

  • +2

Is the RAM on this upgradeable? Does it have a spare slot or do we have to replace this with 2 x 16GB RAM

    • +4

      It is upgradeable

      • Could i change the 16gb to 2x16gb DDR4?

      • Could you recommend some compatible 32GB RAM for this model?

        • +1

buy the laptop, run some hardware diagnostic software, and you will see the exact brand/type.
          buy the same ones

    • +1

Would be better if it was free…
This is an ATL on Ozbargain with the cashback.

    • +10

Better if it was cheaper? Woooow that's crazy brah 😱😂

  • -1

I am deciding between this and https://www.ozbargain.com.au/node/865666
is the extra money worth it for gaming?

    • Duh.. you better read the comments on that msi

    • -1

You comparing a POS with this highly rated Legion, its quite an insult to Lenovo lol

      • +2

I don't know much about specs, I see them both as RTX 4060, how much more FPS will I get from this laptop over the shitty one?

        • +4

ozbargainers are out for blood today with the downvotes for a simple question lol.

for realsies: the MSI uses a gen older CPU and has much lower power to the GPU despite it being the same model. CPU gens don't always matter much but this is one of the cases where it does. The build quality on that MSI is also much worse. Altogether I'd say they offer approx the same "performance value", but personally I would go for this Lenovo for the bonus quality and "future-proofness", subjective as those are.

        • Look at the TDP when comparing ones with the same GPU. Higher TDP allows the GPU to run close to its full potential as it isn't getting 'gimped' in layman's terms. In this case 140W for the Legion, 45W for the MSI. Significant difference.

    • +3

that 4060 has an insulting 45w

  • Bought this with Cashrewards last week - awesome specs and awesome price after cashback + tax.

    • @rekke can you confirm the usb c is usb 4.0 or not?

  • My first gaming laptop was the Lenovo Legion 5 in 2019 - loved it and would return to it if i needed a similar laptop

    • what happend to it?

      • I built a desktop PC and had a separate slim laptop for work so no longer needed it

        • fair enough, didya sell it or give it away to a relative or is it just in storage rn.

annoyingly i have a couple laptops but they're all kinda shit battery life wise.

if only could combine em into a decent laptop for 2024 lmao.

          • @AndrewMTG: Just in storage - i think i lost the charger so havent powered it up in awhile. Sadly it didn't come with USB-C PD.

Agreed on battery life, I think that's the biggest drawback to gaming laptops, I was lucky to push 4 hours on my legion.

            • @penguinswillrise: 4 hours is pretty decent!

I got an asus tuf laptop that was like $1016.

Used it recently for a short game of league and omg the screen started frick in out w artifacting and stuff never seen that happen before… Didn't bsod or anything though weird not sure what happened w it.

I'm tempted to buy a m1 macbook if i can get a good price on it like below $700 as the new m series chips by apple have amazing battery life supposedly.

              • @AndrewMTG: I had my Asus tuf screen replaced for free, 6 months out of warranty. The screen should have a 10 year warranty on the part itself.

  • +3

With those Acer 4060 deals year ago for 1180, would be more excited for 4070m at 2k

    • those have low tdp

  • When does this end?

  • Good deal, but imo, Lenovo could do better. Cashback really made this one pop not lenovo themselves.

Downgrade of the panel from 2021 where we got 500nits & not HDR400 (otherwise identical colour gamut&resolution &both IPS), and lack of USB4 support won’t kill it, but does leave a sour taste in your mouth.

Last time it was 1899$ we could customise the screen, not even that anymore? Come on, with the new Legion 7 getting 100% p3, that should be enough product segmentation from the 5, no need to remove something that made Legion standout from competitors now others medium range lineup also gets 1600P screens and some even with 100%p3.

    • People neg me for wanting lower price 😒 its an okay deal but as you mentioned could be better.

Theres alot happening with laptop competitors and new cpu architecture, not to mention AI integrated laptops.

Black Friday coming also definitely HOLD

    • yeah screen kinda mid and at this price point I'm considering waiting

    • I agree with you there, I am surprised to see just one config, and display is certainly a downgrade from what we've seen on offer 1-2 years ago in Legions this price range (on special)

  • +1

How is this laptop for Lightroom and Photoshop?

    • While I'm here thinking: how is this laptop for Fedora + Gimp + Dark table

Trying to get out of Adobe after 25 years of muscle memory. Wish me luck!

  • +1

The model with 4070 works with SPRING code too and 15% cash back. Sadly Lenovo jacked up price slightly, it was $2289 other day.

    So $600 for a 4070 and 32GB of RAM.

    • +2

Yeah still pretty good. My cashback tracked at $374 so got it for $2,124

    • +1

+$500, not $600. And you also have the option of +50 to get the 500nits 240hz hdr 400 screen

      • $2499 - $1899 = $600. Am I missing something as I'd like to get this laptop?

        • It was 2399 before 15%cashback.
Even 2499-1899, after cashback, the gap is only 510

  • Is this slim form factor 2.4kg?

    • for gaming laptop 2.3-2.4 is good you wont find 2.0kg unless probably that $3000 asus rog 13"

      • +2

This might be useful if you want to see how it compares with other models: https://jarrods.tech/gaming-laptop-weight-list/

        • Thanks Jarrod. Love your vids btw.
I am a bit confused with the lenovo nomenclature but are the new slims of 2024 called lenovo 5i and 7i? I was hoping to get my hands on the lenovo 14in but they dont sell that anymore. Is the lightest lenovo one the lenovo legion 7i?

          • +2

@benchman: Cheers, yeah they have used 5i and 7i names for a few years now, what you want to look for is the gen. Gen 9 is 2024, Gen 8 is 2023, etc.

Legion 7i is the lightest 16", surprised they don't sell the 14" anymore, but they might be about to refresh it with AMD's new Ryzen AI 9 HX 370 chip that just came out - I don't know that for sure, just my guess.

  • Questions for the gamers. Comparing this laptop spec - 4060 against a PS5, would the graphic similar or PS5 would be better.
The reason I'm asking is being a retired PC Master race gamer, I would like to play some latest games casually. I transitioned to a mid-range gaming laptop (1050TI) years ago as I'm gaming lesser. However, I realized I might only play 2-3 games a year and the specs outdated pretty quickly.

Should I invest in a PS5 or buy this laptop, knowing it will probably outdated in a year or 2.

    • I heard Ps5 pro is announced which is equivalent to a 4060

    • A console is always going to be the best value for a purely gaming device imo. You know almost 100% that games will be optimised for the console (no settings tweaking etc), less likely to run into a myriad of other tech problems. The things you give up of course is modding, Steam sales, free online multiplayer and ofc using a computer for its many other purposes.

  • This or hold out for black friday…. Hmm…

  • Has been two days since I purchased, anyone else's order still hasn't been tracked by Topcashback?
