Seems like a good deal if you were already looking to stay a night in one of their higher end hotels (ie a sofitel). If so, you're getting 10,000 Qantas points and a whole lot of other benefits thrown in.

I advise to not calculate the free night as a justification. Redemption has gone from “a free night” with some exclusions like New Years Eve to “maybe a Wednesday night somewhere if you’re lucky but definitely not that one particular Wednesday night you’re actually able to use it”

I picked up the non business version of this for $199 in February … got a free night in Singapore worth about $450 and with all the other "Plus" benefits and discounts I reckon I've saved easily over $1k with the membership this year. Albeit I have booked around 3 weeks of hotel stays this year with Accor. The dining benefit in Asia is pretty impressive as well. Most of their restaurants from my experience are really good and when you're getting 50% off your main meal + 15% off drinks, it makes them very affordable.

    • Yes, dining benefits were really great.

    • Was it at the Singapore airport Crowne Plaza? Were you able to just book 1 complimentary night?
I'm planning to go there in February for 1 night, so just weighing up if the membership would be an option

      • I stayed at Swissotel Stamford which is moderately up there in price. Fantastic location in SG … but gotta admit, I wasn't all that impressed this time. The hotel comes across now as really sterile and boring and they've removed a bunch of the personal touch that you used to get by making everyone do their own self check ins and check outs which means you don't get any of the status upgrades, early/late checkout etc. without jumping through all sorts of hoops.

      • Also your second question … I didn't try booking just the complementary night. I think you'll have a lot more success with your booking if you intend to stay for 3-4 nights and use the additional night credit as part of a stay (which is what I did).

If you play it right, you could be saving heaps on dining…
I now stay almost exclusively at Accor properties due to Accor Plus.

  • How do you use the free night?

    • if i remembered correctly, the free one night is not actually one night as it is free only up to a certain amount somewhere around $180. If you stay at an expensive one, you probably need to fork out extra and that happened to me a few years ago.

I've had this now for two years. For me, travelling in a family of 4, the membership was mostly a waste of time. I've probably lost money on the deal.

Sure, there are some good restaurant deals to be had, and breakfasts are a lot cheaper, but you've got to have good flexibility of you want to make use of the free night. And don't travel during exclusion periods (when Accor benefits count for nothing - e.g. Easter!)

I've had the gold membership for a couple of years but probably won't renew. The food discounts are good but hotel restaurants aren't usually the best places to dine in a city. The free amenity isn't what it used to be, if they remember to give you one, and the free room upgrade rarely happens due to a lack of vacancy these days.
Might be handy for more international travel.

  • Stay plus free night for any room type?

The cheapest room, if available and opened for redemption.

  • It's interesting that the "Discovery" membership isn't listed as an option on their standard signup screen at the moment.
If you Google it you can still sign up for a "discounted" rate of $448 (still way off the offer at the start of the year).

If you plan to cruise at all in the next 12 months, it's still worth considering given the other benefits can be fruitful too.
It comes with a Buy-One-Get-One-Half-Off certificate that can offer enormous savings. I just used it to save $2500 off the listed price (from the cruiseline and other agencies) for a Princess Med cruise.

Between a Free night booking at Pullman Olympic park on a concert night (hundreds saved), $400 on a Red hot room for 3 nights earlier this year, and about $100 in dining savings, it paid for itself very easily and then some.

If you're high tier status, link to Qatar instead. You get one tier below as Qatar Frequent Flyer Status. IE Platinum converts to Gold, which gets you free lounge access etc.
