    microwave safe plastic scares me

    • +31

In billions of years when the sun expands and burns away the atmosphere of the earth, all that will be left is dirt, JV's hatred of Dan Andrews, a handful of nokia phones and Decor Microwave Safe containers.

    • The decor glass containers (with a plastic lid) are pretty good. You can take the lid off to microwave so def. no plastic getting into your food.

The only problem is they don't stack so they need sooo much more room to store.

Also on sale for the same price at Big W right now. https://www.bigw.com.au/product/decor-microsafe-containers-5…

    • Not a coincidence.

Automated price matching really is impressive.
Use Amazon to find the lowest price, then go buy it from whom Amazon is price matching…

  • Thanks op

FYI - that whole range is very poor quality. It's brittle, the lids buckle, and lids from different packs of the exact same item don't necessarily fit.

      Don't microwave with lid on

    • +3

Totally agree about the warping lids.

I just use these for storage and have found them great. I avoid microwaving plastic.

For about a decade I've used them almost every day to microwave leftovers for lunch at work and I've never had anything break or buckle. I wash them in the dishwasher along with everything else. The lids all fit each other and all still seal fine. The other day I dropped one full of sausages out of the fridge and the lip on one side of the container broke off when it hit the kitchen floor. First one I've ever broken. YMMV.

Look in your work cupboards…these little critters breed like mad in there ..

If you grab bases and lids 12 months apart…they may actually match.

    • Hahaha sounds exactly like my work's lunch room. I once made the mistake of leaving mine and someone put it in the cupboard, didn't even bother to look for mine and just randomly took one back home.

Is there a pre-spaghetti stained version already?

And with lids 1mm too small

One of my missus’ work mates met one of the top neurologists in the country recently at a dinner. Said she mentioned in recent years she has stopped microwaving anything in plastic. I find it interesting that it aligned with info about that microplastics are showing up more in our brains:

WTF does microplastics have to do with alleged leeching of chemicals from heated plastic?
They are two completely different things. Are you grinding up your Decor containers and snorting the powder?

And every doctor knows that surgeons are the mouth breathers of the medical community.

    • i love how every year you people find something new to fear monger about

remember Aspertane causes cancer too because some dumbass published a unverified paper on it

If you only need the 3 x 900ml. This works out at only $7.75.

  • Heads up, I bought these (this exact product and seller) on 4th of June and they arrived damaged (cracked plastic lids)

Doesn't mean don't buy them, but do check them on arrival.Don't do what I did by putting them away for a month (and outside the return period) without checking.

Ended up throwing most of them into the bin without having used them

Glass containers are much better. No microplastics and no contamination of flavours. I get the Kmart or IKEA 600ml or 1L ones for my lunches

  • Have a look in the local charity shop for glass too.
