This is a pretty solid deal, which is even better with the current Cashrewards 15% uncapped cashback. With cashback it will come in just under $2k accounting for GST. Looks like the 15% cashback is just for today so do your review sleuthing quickly.

If you're okay with a RTX 4060 and don't mind upgrading your own ram at some point you can a Legion Slim 5 16 in that spec delivered way quicker for an okay price of $1,899 before cashback.

I'm a little bit salty because I just bought a Slim 5 14" last week for a similar price, and would have loved the 4070 and ability to upgrade ram. But then we get into the whole portability thing.

Happy hunting

  • OP link cycles through a banner that says extra 10% off everything with lenovo education.. dont have edu myself, for those that do, perhaps you can stack with CB for extra ~$200 off?

    • +3

The Cashrewards banner says the 15% cashback is ineligible on Lenovo Education store.

I got this from last deal. Really decent Laptop no issues so far.

  • The Slim 5 14' is not available anymore. Looks like a refresh is coming?

    • +2

Not sure, was considering picking one up and now gone completely. There isn't a lot of choice when it comes to discrete 14-inch laptops than can handle some gaming and not cost a fortune more than $2k.

      • +2

I find that it is the best balance of power, portability and price. However, the current Slim 5 14' setup is quite old. So hopefully it gets a refresh to the Gen 9 as least.

        • It didnt have GSync and Ram was soldered. PWM flicker was very bad too.
High hope new generation fix all of the above, then it'll be one of the best 14inch gaming laptop. Tho we get many contenders this year compare to last year.

          • @myvanbo: I think Asus is the only laptop brand with G-Sync on an OLED. AFAIK it’s difficult to achieve due to way brightness and refresh rate works on an OLED.
If they were to add it. I expect a bit of a price jump.

            • @FireRunner: It seem like that so. Also the price of other 14inch laptops are so insane atm.

Thanks for posting - looks like an awesome deal, however I am not sure if the 15% cashback from your post will stack with the laptops you posted, e.g:

    Legion Pro 5i (16″, Gen 9)
    Part Number: 83DF003XAU
    $2,289.00(inc. GST)
    Savings: $1,510.00 (39%)
    Legion Pro 5i (16″, Gen 9)
    eCoupon Applied: SPRING

I can't see SPRING listed on Cashrewards as an eligible coupon to be stacked - trying to find laptops on the site that are using the SEPTEMBER eligible code from Cashrewards at the moment.

I saw that the cashback includes 'eligible codes' on Lenovo website but worried it will not track - seems like a bit of risk given history with some of the larger ticket items occasionally not being tracked.

    • +3

The OP of the cashback posted this "Cashback is eligible on codes generated by Lenovo on its website" SPRING was made by the lenovo site so it should work (YMMV I take no responsibility)

Even if you don't get the 15% cashback, this is a great deal.

The laptop looks to have 2x M.2 Gen4 slots with 2x DDR5 SO-DIMM slots. Can imagine throwing in 64GB RAM and a 4TB NVME for a beast of a laptop that will last years.

Too bad I already have a gaming rig otherwise would get this. Pair it with a TB4 dock and 3-4 monitors for ultimate productivity if needed.

    • +1

Hmm, does it support TB4 or USB4?

Does anyone have experience with how long cashback takes with Lenovo? I bought this spec in May and the ~$320 cashback was supposed to hit a month ago but still nothing.

    • +3

I just bought a Lenovo and my cashrewards is pending for 95 days

      • So you purchased a Lenovo laptop today from this deal and it tracked? Or just recently?

        • +1

          Today and it tracked yeah

          • @dawtips: Which one did you buy, if I may ask?:)

            • +1

              @rekke: The Legion 7i 32gb 4070 gen 9

    • +2

About 3 months for me last year. Lenovo laptop.

    • +1

Bought same specs in March. I got to claimed the cashbacks in mid of May.

Can you stack 10% off first order?

The legion pro laptops are pretty solid. I got the Legion Pro 7i RTX4090M/13900HX model & in most real life in-game testing I’m about 5% ~ 15% less performant than a RTX4080S/7800XD PC. Latest examples include Black Myth Wukong where at matching settings my average fps was anywhere from 5~15FPS less than the 4080S…

Hows the battery last when not plugged in

    • Did you ever get the dreaded intel instability issue in your laptop. I know that Intel has only confirmed this for desktop processors and won't give a clear answer about laptop processors but there are some who are now reporting issues with laptop processors.

      • Ryzen is in a sweet spot with laptops right now, id even purchase this for a lower price without the gfx card and use the onboard gfx card.

      • It seem like mostly happen on HX chips for laptop too, slightly rare than PC.
        https://www.tomshardware.com/pc-components/cpus/dev-reports-…

      • We probably won't see any confirmation for the laptop CPUs until after Intel finishes working on a fix. Intel wouldn't confirm the desktop CPU issue while they were still working on that fix.

If Intel had confirmed an irreversible issue in their CPUs before having a fix ready, their sales would have plummeted. Delaying the confirmation means that shops can continue to sell Intel laptops and also choose to refuse RMAs while Intel continues to work on a fix.

      • Funnily enough I got the dreaded Black Myth Wukong shader compile crash (out of memory error) which the forums & even the devs said can be intel instability issues.

For me, I undervolted my 13900HX (-100mV core & -90mV on cache). After some more tinkering, the crashes I got was likely due to too aggressive of an undervolt… So no; I haven’t experienced any intel instability issues

anyone know when we'll see laptops with 890m appearing?

    • Probably only Asus until November or December

  • 10% for first order should be stackable too.

      Unlikely:

I also bought the Legion 5 Slim 14 recently. Sure the 4070 would be nice, but personally I'm happy to have better portability, a nicer screen and a less resource intensive GPU.

You're always going to get the option of more power and better upgradability in a physically larger and heavier laptop.

Most people with any sense and some spare $ would also want to pay a little extra to upgrade the warranty. A 1 year warranty is a bit of a gamble with a Lenovo laptop

    • +1

I don't think that the 1-year warranty would stand up to the ACL. See here:
‘Acceptable quality’ means what would normally be expected for the type of product and cost.

My partner's Lenovo Legion we bought in 2021 actually had an issue at 13 months into ownership - Lenovo said it was out of warranty period. I suggested to them that the product was not meeting the lawful guidelines of the Australian Consumer Law and sent them the above excerpt from the ACL website and they more than happily replaced the laptop free of charge after that.

    • How's the battery like when using it for work/videos (not gaming/content creating).

      • Admittedly I haven't used it a lot yet so can't comment on battery life. The laptop is completely silent when doing regular PC stuff, the graphics card only kicks in when needed, so I expect it's quite efficient

  • How long does shipping take? It used to be 2 to 3 weeks and now says 4 to 5 weeks.

    • Does anyone know how accurate is their estimated shipping lead time?

  • Good deal, I paid wayy too much for the intel equivalent (that said I got thunderbolt 4 instead of USB 4, but whatever, and white!) and also Intel mobile chips 14th gen MIGHT have problems unless undervolted…
