    This is a big boi

Need a meaty wrist for him
    Great watch though

    • I had/have the 5x before and yes its "big" but I also do consider myself having a normal wrist, I think its just great

    • I wouldn't say I've got big wrists, probably small to average. I got the 7X and initially thought I made a big mistake, it looked enormous on my wrist. But after a while it grew on me and certainly don't feel like I've made the wrong choice.

An excellent watch, great battery life and plenty of features.

      • place it on your other wrist, that will freak you out. had to wear mine on the right hand site

Fenix 8x prices make all previous generations look like good value

Still rocking my 6X Sapphire - battery life is still great and does everything I need.

      • Same but the battery isn't what it used to be, its down from 3 weeks to 2 weeks after just short of 4 years.

        • I bought mine in Nov 2020 and battery life is still three weeks. Turned off pulse ox and notifications. Still connected to phone.

          • @Commenter: Yeah I mean I've never wasted time with the pulse ox but I still use it for activity tracking every week.

Still rocking my Fenix 1, battery life is still good.

Fantastic watch. Only wish it had amoled screen and didn't mistake driving for walking.

Personally, I'd wait a little bit until the insane Fenix 8 prices drop, and this will drop accordingly.

    • When would that be? Your usual suspects Christmas / Black Friday / EOY sales?

      • +1

I'm not really sure actually, but I can say that from all the reviews/comments I've seen, the Fenix 8 has been priced too high. Even adjusted for inflation it's by far the most expensive Fenix (they went from 799 USD to 999 USD, completely missing 899 USD). So I would think that they would drop prices in the next few months, which seems to check out with Christmas as a rough time frame.

Isn't this watch now two generations old?
From what I understand Garmin did a 'Pro' between the 7X and 8X?
I have a Fenix 6X that has probably only lost one day of battery life since October 2019 but I was waiting for the Fenix 8 to release so the 7X Pro would get cheaper

My head hurts from trying to understand Garmin naming

    • +1

yes correct there was a pro in-between.

The difference between 7xpro and 8 isn't significant, unless you dive every day and want to talk to your watch.

The difference between 7x and 7xpro is even less significant - mostly about sensors.

This is still a fantastic watch in 2024 especially at this price.

I believe that the 7X Pro was the first with the LED torch that seems to be very popular with users. I'm looking for the 7X Pro Sapphire to drop again to a decent price

        • +2

No, I have the 7x and it has the LED torch. The 7x pro is the same torch, but the 8 has a brighter torch.

      • The updated HR sensor is actually a big deal for a lot of people including myself, probably more than those who would use the diving and voice features (after the novelty wears off in 5 minutes)

        • yea I kind of agree using the wrist heart rate sensor on the 5x plus, its okay for everything up to 110-130bpm ish, but it does not go any higher and is fairly inaccurate. hence using the heart rate strap

        • Well yes, though it depends which version of Fenix you're coming from. The Fenix 7 (which is what this deal is about) has been shown to be accurate: https://www.navigation-professionell.de/en/garmin-fenix-7-he…

  • Least it’s not the S version for thin wrist/low test people
