When the email will come through ?

  • +1

Did my thing. Waiting for email.

  • -1

It says it can take up to 24 hours to receive the email. Thanks for sharing. I doubt they will send one to me in the country.

    • +2

Yes all the mars bars on amazon are unavailable to semi-rural areas so they probably won't

    • +1

If the regions are providing the cities with crops, fresh produce, beef, lamb etc etc… I don't see why Amazon can't throw a few free Mars Bars their way.

Doing a magnificent poop after hot sauce is not a thing!

I rescued a lizard! It is a thing! I have proof on Tiktok.

      • +1

Turns out I also rescued a lizard. Thanks Dan!

          hey, me too!

    I did a thing

    • +2

      pressure washer bidet?

  • +9

So, who is going to have a crack at prompt engineering their way to a lifetime supply of Mars Bars?

    • Yeah because AI is magic. It outputs yes/no to thing then a human coded it to send a email code, that is one time and $10 minimum. Only way it can go wrong is if someone screwed up the code minimums. You cant ask it to give you $100 million from Jeff Bezos it isn't hooked up to anything else.

      • +5

I mean, sure. You might be right if someone competent planned, designed and built the thing.

Let me introduce you to marketing and their “just get it done tomorrow or I will do it myself” team.

It’s just ChabGTC. How hard can it be?!

        • HAHAHAHA perfect delivery

          been there

  • I get this:
    Hmm… Let's try again

    • So did mine. It suggested what I did wasn't as "thing-worthy" as doing the christmas shopping early. So I typed in "did christmas shopping early" and won a mars bar.

  • Do they publish your name on some bs site?

  • +1

For those looking for a thing

    • +1

Joined the team. Should have added a few numbers to the total hopefully.

  • +2

Someone please share their thing…Mars thinks my thing doesn't count :(

    • +1

update - wrote "Dropped my kids off at school, did the laundry, went to get groceries, cooked lunch, went to the gym" in hopes that one of these would trigger the prompt and it worked!

      • +2

You can just type in the word 'laundry' and it'll work…

        • Needs to burn some of the extra calories about to be consumed.

    • +2

      upvoted your post

    • You need a bigger thing.

      • Not really. Even the smallest mars bar is considered "fun-size"…

  • +1

I did this twice over the last few days and literally have never received an email. Even after 24 hours wait. Just for those hoping to get a "thing" it might never happen…

  • +4

With Mars bars regularly under $1 I reckon this is under minimum wage.

    • Where are they under $1? Just curious as I haven't seen them under $1 before

      • +1

Currently on special at Coles for $1

        • Surprised they havent decided to raise them to $1.1 or $1.25

          • @ATangk: Yeah normally $1.10 on special at my local woolies

          • +2

@ATangk: Some weeks they are $1.25… those weeks I don't buy chocolate bars…

      • $1 special at Coles and I can usual manage 10-20% off on top with Flybuys

    • Working below minimum wage to earn a Mars bar is a Thing

  • +3

I didn’t post this as a deal because my email never arrived! Bring back the 1 in 6 wins competition!

    • how good was it when you went on a streak with those things… got 4 in a row once, best i ever did.

  • got the email randomly other day; "We noticed that you recently took an action on Amazon.com.au that qualifies as a THING. Congratulations! " - need to go through eligible item.

  • I didnt enter this but i did get sent the email saying i had done a thing, weird

    • Someone else has access to your account?

  • Applying for a home loan worked for me.

I spit on that thang and its a thang…hawk tuah!

Does a Thing to Thingy counts as a Thing ?

  • +1

    went on ozb

  • My thing is that I did NOT do a thing.

    • Not doing a Thing is also a Thing, its not an easy Thing Not to do a Thing.

      • To do a thing requires someone to do a thing with a thing to complete doing the thing in the most accurate way of doing a thing. Some will do a thing to question your ability to do a thing but as long as you believe you can do a thing, then just keep doing a thing

        • that's the right thing.

  • +1

So what’s the impetus for requiring camelcase in the title?

And while we’re at it, given there is so much angst and weird validation over titles why is it left as one big string instead of separate fields for price and store etc?

    • The Title is a Butchered Version of Title Case.

      ThisIsCamelCase

Why use many field when few do trick?

Looks like the endpoint has a little bit of rate-limiting from my experiments.

They also don't appreciate attempts at prompt engineering as those will return BLOCKED from the endpoint instead of YES/NO.

  • "sorting a list" worked fine for me

  • +2

Strangely eating a milky bar didn't qualify

  • Putting the washing out to dry counted as a thing. And being in Tasmania after the last couple of days, it should be multiple things!!

  • I choked the chicken. Does that count?

  • binge watch on prime video was NOT a thing.. Go figure! Esp. cuz this Mars ad pop up here.

  • Spend $10 to get 1 mars bar?

    • Incorrect. Spend $10 to get $10 stuff. Mars Bar is free.

  • Scratching balls not a thing

    • +2

Stick to your own next time.

  • +1

Sounds like too much effort for a mars bar,, I know it's Ozbargain but not a bargain if takes me too much time to do it.

    • +2

My reply to get a free bar was less effort than the length of your comment 🤷‍♂️

  • This is fun, didnt accept sitting on the toilet for 20 mins

  • "Got up and went to work" works

  • "Opened my eyes, looked at the world and closed my eyes" woked worked !

  • I found a lost dog and carried it about 3km before a lady helped me get it to a vet and reunited with its owner (hopefully)

  • The AI decided that "got out of bed" wasn't me doing a thing.

  • +1

“Went grocery shopping for tomatoes” worked for me, after it declined what I actually did today.

  • I helped a young man reconnect with his father. That was a Thing, thankfully, else Mars has no Soul.
