  • Only 2weeks return is on sale?
I want longer period though 😩

    • I have shown 2 weeks as examples, there are lots more dates on sale. Click the main route link and then choose your dates from the calendar.

2 weeks ain't enough?! Save some annual leave for the rest of us bro… That's all most of us got :')

    • +13

Yes, but most of them are in first class. Is that ok?

      • -1

        Yep if you're paying

      • +1

Looks like everyone missed the joke.

        • -1

nobody missed the joke, because nobody is missing their sense of humour.

  • +1

some cheap flights to Hong Kong as well during Feb - March

  • finally, been waiting a while for these :) ty

  • Seoul good geh……

    • Sorry, sir, I'm with the Joke Police, and I'm going to have to ask you to come with me for that terrible joke.

  • nice prices.

i paid $520 (from Bris) with Jetstar via their sale with one check-in bag, no meals (BYO), no entertainment (BYO). (went 5 months ago)

wouldn't be upset to pay more for upgraded comfort (meal and entertainment and more leg space)

    • Granted from Brisbane its a direct flight to ICN now (unless if you choose a day where the flight operates out of SYD)

    • +1

Don't be too upset, your flight is 9 1/2 hours, vs 17 hours via Singapore. Not worth the extra inch of legroom and microwaved meal personally.

  • +3

I wish this can be done as multi-city bookings so I can spend a few days in Singapore. I tried searching for a multi-city itinerary with a 3-day layover in Singapore from Melbourne, but the price doubled.

    • +1

This takes the appeal out of these kinds of deals for me. I have no interest in going via Singapore if it's just adding time to the trip, even if it's a bit cheaper. I'd need a stopover to make it worthwhile.

  • +5

Feb March is still pretty cold in Korea .. just FYI but a great deal OP! The price is a bargain, esp for a full service top-end airline like SG air

  • I heard Tokyo is much better than Seoul

    • That's pretty subjective. Seoul is a cool city, regardless of how good Tokyo is.

      • -4

seoul shouldn't be in the same sentence with tokyo. nothing out of the whole korea is as cool as the imperial palace meiji jingu, omotesando harajuku, sensoji…

        • +2

The Japanese destroyed all of the major historical landmarks in Seoul during the occupation in an attempted cultural genocide… So not a surprise.

I personally found Seoul more lively, and better for food. It's subjective and depends what you're into, but both have their merits as a destination.

          • @nigel deborah: And the Americans destroyed all of the major historical landmarks in Tokyo in the most devastating firebombing campaign of all time, (which actually caused more damage than the single bombs dropped on Hiroshima or Nagasaki). Though I personally find Tokyo pretty bland compared to the rest of Japan too, just like Seoul compared to the rest of South Korea.

The country still has a lot to offer however. Seoraksan, the DMZ, Gyeongju, and Busan are enough to keep one busy for 2 weeks definitely.

            • +2

@GS9891: If you find Tokyo pretty bland what do you find Australia?

              • @khamzatchimaev: Bland by Japan's standards, obviously nothing in Australia can really hold a candle to any city there though.

But still after 10+ trips to Japan I've always thought Tokyo just feels a lot less soulful than Osaka, Sapporo, Kochi, Nagasaki, etc, and a lot less historically rich than Kyoto/Nara/Ise/tons of countryside area. Great for those who like shopping/nightclubs/unending concrete maybe, but spiritually hollow. Takao/Kamakura/Mitake/Okutama/Hakone/Nikko (relatively) nearby make great daytrips though.

            • @GS9891: That's true actually… Hmmm.. so are those landmarks OP referenced all reconstructed? Then in that case, they're basically on par with one another, both with rebuilt 'fake' historical buildings.

              • @nigel deborah: Mostly, a few things survived, including much of Asakusa I believe. And things made of brick like Tokyo station/the walls of the Imperial Palace/etc (believe the palace has one original gate left also).

        • Did you enjoy anything about Seoul/Korea? I personally thought Korea was pretty cool.

          • +1

@Orion au: Yeah, as above there's still plenty to keep one occupied in SK for a few weeks. Very much enjoyed the DMZ, Seoraksan hiking, Gyeongju, and Busan.

Seoul still has a few nice things to see as well of course (and plenty of shopping for those who enjoy that kind of thing), even Tokyo has Asakusa/Meiji Jingu/Akiba and the like that are worth at least a quick visit.

    • +3

I heard burgers are much better than pizza

    • +2

Been to both. Both very different cities with different cultures. If you like partying and drinking and you are young, Seoul is definitely far more insane than tokyo. Sightseeing is also on the same level. If you are a tech guy or a nerd tho, Tokyo will obviously blow Seoul out of the water. Food just depends on your preference. Clothes and luxury shopping is the same. People in Japan tend to be more likely to speak even basic amounts of English compared to my experience in Seoul. Overall it shouldn't be a choice of one over the other but one now one later.

Also if you are going with kids i recommend Tokyo over Seoul.

    • I would say Tokyo = Seoul, but rest of Japan >>> rest of Korea

So if you have like a week long trip, Seoul is cool. For longer trips, Japan offers way more

Give Seoul a go. I found it an interesting experience, where you could see similarities between China and Japan, but was still its own unique culture. Had amazing food there and some beautiful sights. Wasn't too hard to navigate without any Korean. Seokchon lake with the cherry blossoms in bloom on a slightly drizzly day was top class.

  • just let you know guys super cold in Feb and March in Korea.
Highly recommended for ski or snowboarding.
