I had new tyres from their Pirelli sale and a wheel alignment. 11 months later, I noticed that the inners were totally worn out and needed replacing. After multiple excuses trying to say it was nothing to do with them and I would have to book and pay for a new wheel alignment they eventually agreed to look at it.

When I came back, they said the entire front end of the car had suffered a collision at some time and that it was gonna cost a bomb. I questioned this in absolute shock as it has never been in an accident. After some back n forth they realised they had the wrong car……laughs of relief all round. However, they said that the problem was worn bushes. They said to wait till a sale comes up to grab new tyres, despite initially saying they would give a discounted option due to the time I had them on.

Instead, I went elsewhere. The bushes were worn and needed to be replaced, but apparently, this wear was a long-term thing and, if adjusted properly wouldn't have such a pronounced effect. When they did the alignment, they hadn't picked up the issue, causing the adjustments to exaggerate the effect of worn bushes.

TLDR: they messed up but refused to accept it was their fault. They seemed to be overworked and had poor moral, probably resulting in lack of care

I also had a same kind of issue with them. I do not beleive on Mechanic now a days. Just stay with your regular mechanic if you trust.

Probably depends on the franchisee but I'm really happy with my local one.
Have also used their roadside assistance and tyre repair guarantee with no issues.

      • Care to plug which Mycar you're referring to?

    NRMA Roadside assitance $120 annualy
Fuel, you can same $10 to $30 per week average but depend. So I will take an average of $15 per week, and then 8 weeks will be $120.

They are giving you $240, but to be honest, they will try to cover that money from you.

Last time, I went to Indian machanic shop for major service who charger me $150 as a labor and including transmission oil change and I provided them all the parts. So far no issue and its been 3 months and normal service is due next month.

  • Don't go mycar they are the worst mechanic shop in existence

  • "Use of Discount:
Upon Activation, you will have access to your first single use Discount barcode to be redeemed within 7 days.
You will have access to a new single use Discount barcode, for use once per week only, following Activation for 8 consecutive weeks."

Anyone done this and know if the vouchers after the 1st one also expire after 7 days? So that would mean you'd need to refuel once per week for 8 weeks to get the discount? Coz if you're filling up that often, the savings would be tiny.

  • Has anyone received the fuel promo email after their service? How soon would it come?

  • I didn't, I had to send them an email about it.
Didn't end up using it anyway. They need sooo much personal info plus the shell app. Not worth if for a saving of ~$10

  • I just received my shell voucher invite last week, which was roughly 2 weeks after the log book servicing
used the first fuel voucher last week, saved about 10% of the total fuel cost
decent deal if you add up all the additional benefits offered

    • So you would've got another voucher for this week? Does it also expire in 7 days?
I'm wondering if it means you need to fill up every 7 days (which wouldn't save you much unless you did ALOT of kms

      • cant tell from the Shell app
it is in the T&C that the bar code is "Valid for a single use per week" & "once per week for 8 weeks"
