Connection is nightmare with the app, switch to Govee

Great price, wish these were Zigbee and not 2.4 GHz WiFi though.

Yep, wifi sucks for home automation. But I just have one of these, for a feature, so no great harm. Works easily with Home Assistant.

These are $35 each plus shipping
They aren't the brightest in the world but the connection has been rock solid.

      • Thanks, might have to give these a try in Home Assistant.

        • Yep work great with ZHA or Deconz in HA

  • Is Perks $10 off once off?

    • yes, per Jb hifi account

  • Limit of 5 per cart. Not ideal if you planned on doing more than 1 area.

Started with Lifx but their app sucks and kept dropping off the network. House now has the aldi colour downlights that have been flashed with Esphome. Not bad for 11 each.

    • How hard were they to flash? I have about 8 of the Aldi ones and they are really good except for when the network goes down, they take ages to start working again with Home Assistant (LocalTuya integration)

And yeah I have a bunch of Lifx bulbs. Most are fine, one is really spotty.

Not that hard to flash at all. Those Aldi ones are on the Beken chipset and DigitalBlur has a great how to video on how to flash them to ESPhome.

    • I got it going. A bit tricky - mainly getting connected to Home Assistant - but no worse than LocalTuya was
